Autumn this year spoiled us with a week of gorgeous Indian summer. We decided to spend a warm weekend with friends somewhere in nature. My friend recently bought a new spinning rod for his son, and the guys couldn’t wait to try it out. This time we wanted to go fishing in some decent, improved place. On Google maps I found the Ichthyologist fishing base.

Ichthyologist - paid fishing in the Moscow region

The farm "Ichthyologist" is located in the Lotoshinsky district, 25 km from the city of Volokolamsk. We left Moscow at 8 am in order to get to the region before traffic jams. And we almost succeeded. We got there along the Novorizhskoe highway. But we still got stuck in a traffic jam outside of Moscow. The track has been being repaired for several years and is not being repaired at all. We arrived at the base around 11 am. Without traffic jams it would take about an hour and a half to two hours.

Upon entry, you need to get a so-called voucher in this building, the price of which includes a certain catch. At the reception you need to decide what kind of fish you plan to catch. If there is crucian carp, perch, or pike, then you will be directed to the main pond. If you want to catch trout or carp, then go to another pond. There are a total of 3 main ponds at this base with different fish.

We wanted to catch a pike; it is found in the main pond. Having issued a ticket, they explained to us where we could fish. If you haven’t booked a bungalow, you can fish anywhere on the left bank. You can drive directly to the fishing spot by car. Entry and parking are included in the price of the tour. By the way, in the main building you can also buy everything you need for fishing. We had everything of our own, except the bait.

The main pond turned out to be quite large. On the official website of the Ichthyologist, from the photo it seemed smaller. It’s good that you can get there by car, otherwise walking from the parking lot with everything you need for fishing and a picnic would be problematic. We didn’t book a bungalow, so we got to the opposite bank and settled on the grass.

Katya is the hungriest

I was surprised that despite the fact that this is paid fishing and it’s quite a long way to get here, there were a lot of fishing enthusiasts gathered at the pond. All these "bungalows" were booked. Fishermen were also scattered along the shore, some in groups, some alone, some with their wives, children and dogs. While we were fishing, people continued to arrive. Apparently, this base is quite popular among the nearest large cities and towns - Volokolamsk, Lotoshino, Yaropolets.

Territory and ponds of the Ichthyologist base

I have already written earlier about all the delights of fishing on the Oka, when there are mountains of garbage around. Unlike free fishing, paid fishing pleases with clean, well-groomed territory, clean reservoirs, and there are convenient barbecues and picnic areas. Even if you are not a fan of fishing, you will get aesthetic pleasure from relaxing on the shore of the lake. Soft grass, fresh air, nature, silence.

Equipped picnic areas

The caught fish can be immediately fried on the grills equipped along the perimeter of the lake. Or bring kebabs with you and have a picnic while you catch fish. Also in some places there are stone tables and chairs, like from a medieval castle.

Decorative figures and sculptures

Throughout the base you can see all sorts of different decorative figures and sculptures. Just look at the African cluster, where, according to the director, the animal figures are made in life-size with the help of experts so that they look realistic.

Playground

We noticed that many people come here with families with children. If your kids are tired of boring fishing, you can ride them on a horse, on cars, or send them to frolic in a children's playground. Horseback riding is paid, but there is no need to pay separately for entrance to the children's playground, except when some clowns or animators are performing there.

Restaurant "Ostrov Ok"

On the main pond of the base there is also a restaurant with the simple name “Island” with a summer terrace and an excellent view of the lake and forest. We can’t give you an idea of the prices, we didn’t stop by. Finding this cafe is not difficult; it is located near the playground and can be seen from anywhere on the main lake.

Accommodation

You can stay overnight or rent a house for a few days right at the base. The cottages are modern and comfortable. The cost of living is from 6 to 12 thousand rubles per day, depending on the day of the week and the number of people. A group of up to 6 people is allowed.

There is also a small beach at the base in summer. For those who paid for fishing, swimming is free. And in winter, ice fishing is organized.

Fishing in "Ichthyologist"

As mentioned above, you will need to select the desired fish, get a ticket and go to the corresponding body of water. You can arrive to the fishing spot by car. The cost of entry and parking is included in the price of the tour. There you can rent a gazebo, or choose any convenient place on the shore of the pond.

If you are new to fishing, local instructors will explain what you need to successfully catch the coveted fish, and show you if necessary.

For children, there is a children's playground on the territory of the camp site, where they can be sent to frolic while their parents fish. Admission is free , except when animators are working there. In addition, horseback riding is available for children for an additional fee.

What kind of fish can be caught in the reservoirs of the Ichthyologist base?

Here you will find 4 ponds inhabited by several species of fish:

roach;
chir.

You can catch both small fish and trophy specimens. This is considered a fish that weighs more than 5 kg.

When is stocking carried out?

You need to find out in advance about when fish stocking takes place in reservoirs at Ichthyologist, especially if you want to catch something specific.

The approximate order of summer stocking is as follows:

Carp ̶̶̶ once a week;
Crucian carp ̶̶̶ once a month;
Pike ̶̶̶ as needed;

It is also worth keeping in mind that the bite depends on the time of day and weather conditions. They will tell you about all this on the spot, but if you are going to go on a weekend and catch, for example, pike, then it is better to find out when they plan to stock the fish and how long ago it was last time.

Big pond

It is considered the main fishing pond. It is home to all types of fish that are bred on the farm. The size reaches approximately 12 hectares, its depth is more than 6 m. On the banks of the Main Pond on the left side there are fishing spots called “Fisherman’s Bungalow”.

Each of them is a whole complex, each of them has a pier, a gazebo, a barbecue and a large table. All gazebos have lighting and sockets.

Rental price for "Fisherman's Bungalow":

Weekdays from 7:00 to 21:00 ̶̶ 2500 rub.; from 13:00 to 21:00 ̶̶ 2000 rub.
weekends and holidays 3500 rub. and 2500 rub. respectively.

On the same bank there are four "Swinging Gazebos". They are called that because in appearance they resemble a swing. Near each of them there is a barbecue.

Rental cost of the “Swinging Gazebo”:

from 7:00 to 21:00:
weekdays ̶̶ 1,500 rub.
weekends and holidays ̶̶ 2,000 rub.

Trout-sturgeon pond

From the name it becomes clear that valuable fish species live here - trout and sturgeon. The area of the reservoir is 1 hectare, its depth is no more than 4.5 m.

The right bank of the pond is equipped with fishing spots called “Fairy Mushrooms” and gazebos “At the Ravine”. They are equipped with lighting, and barbecues and tables are installed outside.

The rental price for them is:

from 7:00 to 21:00:
weekdays ̶̶ 1,500 rub.
weekends and holidays ̶̶ 2,000 rub.

A nice Finnish house also awaits its guests on the shore of the Trout Pond. Even though it looks small from the outside, it can easily accommodate a group of ten people. It will provide vacationers with everything they might need for grilling and barbecuing.

Rent price:

from 7:00 to 21:00
weekdays ̶̶ 2,000 rub.
weekends and holidays ̶̶ 3,000 rub.

The rental price for each gazebo is for a group of four people. Other guests must purchase a guest pass.

Family Pond

Everything here is suitable for families with children: each family member can do what interests him: fishing, swimming or sunbathing on the beach, and children can play on the playground. The fish found here are perch, carp, pike, crucian carp, grass carp, etc.

Vacationers on the Family Pond can rent fishing spots, which have barbecues, tables and chairs, and sun loungers. Take a catamaran ride on the water for an additional cost: 30 min. ̶̶ 300 rub.

Far Pond

Fishing on this pond is as close as possible to fishing in the wild, but with convenient access to the shore and the absence of excess vegetation.

The banks of all ponds are equipped with barbecues where you can fry freshly caught fish.

Fishing prices

As of fall 2015, prices at the main pond are as follows:

“Voucher” for 1 man from 1500 to 3000 rubles, depending on the day of the week and time of day. Cheapest on weekdays from 13:00 to 20:00
Women 1500 rub.
Children under 12 years old free

This price includes caught fish up to 9 kg. If you catch more, you will have to pay extra according to the price list.

Cost of fishing on Trout and Family ponds:

Men 500 rub.
Women and children free

The cost of fishing in these reservoirs does not include fish; it is paid according to the price list.

Guest pass

A guest voucher is suitable for those who just came for company. Cost 500 rubles for men. Women and children free. For example, if your husband is a fisherman and you are not, then you can go to the base for free and sunbathe on the shore of the lake.

Fish prices:

The cost of fish is not exorbitant; most varieties correspond to store prices. You will have to pay for the fish if you caught more than the included weight, or if you caught it at a trout pond or a family pond. You can also buy fish at these prices at the base if you haven’t caught anything.
