Lake Velje: description
Velje is a reservoir located in the northwestern part of the Russian Federation. Administratively, this territory belongs to the Novgorod region. The lake is part of the Valdai National Park. To the north of it there is another famous body of water - lake. Seliger.
Velier has a fairly elongated shape. The length from the northern extreme point to the southern is about 25 km. The area of the water surface is 35 square meters. km. The coastline is rugged, there are small bays, inlets, and islands. There are only about 200 of the latter, there are both large and very small. The beaches are predominantly sandy, with silt deposits being less common. Calculating these places is extremely simple. Where the banks are overgrown with reeds and sedges, there will be silt. It is in these areas that small fish are caught.
Lake Velje (see photo in the article) is quite deep. In 2004, bottom surveys were carried out, which revealed large holes. In one of them the depth reached 42 m. The average was 10 m.
The shores of the lake differ in relief. For example, it is almost impossible to get to the southern and eastern ones by transport, so they are completely uninhabited, unlike the northern and western ones. The water is clean, the sandy beaches are popular with tourists from different parts of Russia. There are no large industrial or agricultural buildings in the surrounding area. That is why this area is environmentally friendly.
Given the climatic features of the region, the lake freezes in November-December. Throughout the winter, it is covered with a thick layer of ice, thanks to which winter fishing flourishes here. The reservoir opens in mid-spring. By May, all the ice has completely disappeared.
The water in Velha is running. Several rivers flow into it. The largest is Yavon. It is through this that the natural flow of lake water occurs. The Javon flows out in the western part of Velje. A dam was built at this place, which regulates the level in the lake. Currently it is raised by 2-4 meters. An artificial canal was built on the reservoir in the eastern part, thanks to which part of the water flows into the Shlinu, Libya and lake rivers. Shlino.
Fishing on Lake Velje
Lake Velye in the Novgorod region is one of the most popular fishing spots in northwestern Russia.
The distance from roads and cities makes the lake environmentally friendly and the fish in it suitable for food. The pristine natural environment contributes to the conservation of many fish species. Among them: pike, bream, pike perch, perch, tench, whitefish and more than twenty species of fish.
The water in Lake Velje is clear. In these conditions, fishing is very convenient; fish can be caught even with the simplest gear. They depend on the type of fish: spinning rod, fishing rod, spoon, etc.
The maximum depth of the lake is 42 m, the average depth is approximately 9–10 m.
Fishing on Lake Velje is permitted, but, as throughout the national park, seasonality and fishing rules are regulated by the state. The fishing season opens on Lake Velje after the ice melts: during this period it is allowed to fish from a boat with a fishing rod. From mid-May it is allowed to fish with spinning rods on a rowing boat, and in mid-June fishing on an inflatable boat opens.
If desired, the catch can be immediately cooked on a fire or grill: there are specially equipped places for this.

Peculiarities
Lake Velye (Novgorod region) is glacial in origin. Its history goes back several centuries. Local residents have many legends associated with this reservoir. They are happy to tell interesting stories, which, however, do not have official confirmation. But that doesn't matter. The main thing is that these facts prove the uniqueness and mystery of these places.
The lake is surrounded by magnificent nature. She is truly unique. Dense pine forests, spruce and birch groves make the air not only clean, but also healing. The flora and fauna have been preserved almost in their original form to this day. The forest belt is home to many wild animals. These are foxes, wild boars, moose, roe deer and even, if you're lucky, you can meet a bear. The world of birds is no less diverse. Majestic eagles and hawks often fly over the surface of the water. Such abundance attracts hunters who always leave these places with good trophies. The reservoir itself is home to more than 20 species of different fish.
The climate in these places is temperate continental. The air vaguely resembles sea air. Seasonality is clearly expressed. In summer, the weather is sunny, the temperature reaches +30 ° C, but there is no stuffiness typical for cities. Winters are mild with persistent snow cover. The beach season begins at the end of June. By July, the water in the lake warms up to +25 °C. Tourists come to the coast, staying either at recreation centers or as “savages” with tents.
Lake Veljo
Hidden in centuries-old forests, shimmering in the sun, an immense blue mirror, Lake Velje, rests serenely. Here a country of deep, untouched silence hid from prying eyes. The crystal air sparkles and rings with bird trills, peace is spread all around.
Lake Velye spreads its shores in the Novgorod region, forty kilometers southwest of Valdai, surrounded by magnificent forests, on the territory of the Valdai National Park. This is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in northwestern Russia. Located almost equidistant from Moscow and St. Petersburg, this amazing place amazes with its almost untouched, majestic nature.
The length of the lake from north to south is about twenty-five kilometers. The high, hilly shores framing the vast expanse of the lake are picturesquely indented by large and small sandy bays. According to the most conservative estimates, the lake is dotted with about two hundred islands, unique in their beauty, of different sizes and origins. For example, in the east of the lake, you can find floating land areas up to one hundred meters in diameter.
In the west, the rapids and stormy Yavon River flows out of the lake, flowing into Pola and further into Ilmen. In the east of the lake, the Velje Canal originates, which connects Velje with the Libya River and then with Lake Shlino.
Velje, a lake of glacial origin, is located on the Valdai moraine ridge, therefore, the terrain here is undulating, heterogeneous, and the water in the lake is clean and transparent, there is an opinion that you can drink it directly from the lake. The depth difference at Velje is forty-two meters. The average depth is nine to ten meters. The bottom and shores are mostly sandy, with silt occurring in places. The lake boasts a variety of fish and, accordingly, excellent fishing. In its waters you can find pike, bream, pike perch, perch, carp and more than twenty species of fish.
The history of the lake goes back centuries and is fraught with a great many amazing facts and legends. Birch groves, dense, mysterious spruce and light, airy pine forests create the unique, magical beauty of these places. The ancient Russian forest is noisy here, the first mention of which dates back to The Tale of Bygone Years. These ancient forests are home to a considerable number of wild animals. On Velha you can have fun hunting elk, bear, wild boar and all kinds of birds.
The climate in these places is temperate continental, close to the sea, soft and healing.
Summers are usually sunny and cool, winters are mild and snowy. In the summer months, the water in the lake warms up to 25°. At this time it is good to sunbathe and swim on the clean and secluded beaches of the lake.
In winter, there is freedom for fans of ice fishing, as well as ski lovers. The feeling of flying on a snowmobile, across an ice-bound lake, to a cozy house, from the chimney of which curls smoke from a Russian stove, where a rich fish soup is boiling in a pot, is indescribable.
Autumn is the most elegant and colorful time in Velje. It's time for bright colors, fairy tale paths and an abundance of mushrooms and berries.
There is no city bustle here - these are remote, sparsely populated and mysterious places, a corner of wild, pristine nature. You won’t find hordes of tourists here, like on neighboring Seliger. Calm and friendly people live here. There is no industrial production or large farmland. Civilization has only touched the western shore of the lake, scattering several villages there where you can find a couple of shops and a fish farm. On the remaining shores, which can only be reached by water, there are not even a dozen private houses, behind which wild forest stretches for many kilometers, which allows you to enjoy solitude and pristine nature. People come to Velje for various reasons. Some are looking for excellent fishing and hunting, others are looking for long-awaited peace and quiet, while others are attracted here by artifacts or ancient legends that local old-timers are happy to tell. But everyone who finds themselves in these places finds something more than just relaxation. A riddle. Calm. Silence.
Fishing
Will Lake Velye (Novgorod Region) be able to surprise fishermen? Reviews from professionals allow us to draw some conclusions. Let's start with the inhabitants of the underwater world. There are different representatives in the reservoir. Roach, pike, bream, perch, pike perch and others live here in large quantities. Also, if you are lucky, you can catch the most valuable specimen - vendace. Any type of gear is suitable: spinning rod, spinner, bait, etc. The choice will depend on the type of fish desired. Fishing can be done both from the shore and from boats. Very important: it is not recommended to go out on the water without life jackets.
For those who choose Lake Velje for the first time, it will be useful to know about the weather. Strong winds often blow in this area. The temperature may drop sharply. Such fluctuations are especially characteristic of the autumn period. Many fishermen have noticed that during the day the temperature can be +30 °C, and by the evening it can drop to +7 °C. Therefore, it is recommended to take warm clothes on your trip.
So, how to fish on the lake? Knowledgeable people recommend using bait. You can mix it with vanilla, roasted flaxseeds, and sunflower oil cake. It is also recommended to use assorted cereals (pearl barley, millet, rice, wheat and others). If you follow these tips, a good catch is guaranteed even in bad weather. Most often, pike from 1 to 3 kg are caught on the hook (individuals up to 10 kg are found in the lake), roach - 0.3 kg, perch - 0.2-0.4 kg. Bream is a capricious fish, so you should only fish for it in calm weather and at a depth of at least 4 m.

Holidays on the lake
Holidays on Lake Velye in the Novgorod region are rapidly gaining popularity every year. And this is quite understandable. In the summer, you can swim, sunbathe, take walks in the forest, or fish here. You won't be bored in winter either. Many people come to these places to ski, snowmobil, or engage in extreme sports. During this season you can go fishing or hunting. In a word, every tourist on the lake will find entertainment for himself.
Considering that there is no access to the southern and eastern sides, many visitors travel by motor boat. Moving on water is only allowed in life jackets. It is better to adhere to this rule, as there are frequent checks on the lake. If you don’t want to have such a difficult time getting to places with parking lots, then it is recommended to choose the northern or western shore. You can easily get to it by car.
Although Lake Velje is a popular tourist site, there is practically no garbage, which will please any tourist. There are a lot of parking places. Tent cities are built near each beach in the summer. If you want privacy and silence, you can stay away from crowded places.
Sandy beaches, of which there are many along the entire coastline, are ideal for swimming. The depth increases gradually. The only thing that can cause inconvenience is algae. There are a lot of them in late spring and early summer, but by July almost all the beaches are cleared.
Considering that the lake is located in a protected area, recreation here is paid. Entry to the territory costs about 100 rubles, parking a car costs 50 rubles. Hunting license: for wild boar – 12,000 rubles, for bear – 50,000 rubles. and higher (cost varies depending on the weight of the individual). Fishermen need to purchase a ticket, for which they pay 30 rubles. per day.

Everyone is going to the Lower Volga, but I am still drawn to the north. I don't even know how to explain all this. Most likely, you like nature. So this year, Sergei and Igor invited me to go to Lake Velye, in the Novgorod region. This lake is located between Valdai and Seliger.
In principle, in those parts I was on many lakes, Volgo, Seliger, Vselug, Piros, Valdai, Uzhin. And because of this, I understood perfectly well what kind of fishing there would be, this is not the lower Volga. I don’t know why, but I agreed to the trip right away.
The trip was planned for six days, to one of the few bases on this lake. Lake Velyo is one of the largest lakes in the north-west of Russia, located in the Novgorod region, north of Lake Seliger in the territory of the Valdai National Park. The lake stretches from north to south for more than 25 kilometers, the shores are heavily indented. Velho has more than 200 large and small islands. Depth difference up to 42 meters (2004 study). The average depth is 9-10 meters. The bottom and shores are mostly sandy, with mud in places. The western and northern shores of the lake are inhabited. The southern and eastern shores are difficult to access by vehicle. The water in the lake is suitable for drinking. There is no industry, nor are there any large agricultural producers. The lake becomes covered with ice at the end of November - beginning of December, and is freed from ice at the end of April - beginning of May.
Several small rivers flow into the lake. The natural flow in the western part of the lake through the Yavon River is partially blocked by a dam, causing the lake level to rise by several meters. Part of the drainage of Lake Velyo enters the Vyshnevolotsk water system through an artificial canal in the eastern part of the lake into the Libya River, Lake Shlino and the Shlina River. My trip began with a little adventure, I refueled the car the evening before the trip, after refueling I noticed that the engine was working strangely, then normally, and then still running rough. Thought it was gasoline. In the evening I loaded the boat, motor and things into the car. Early in the morning I start, start the car, everything is fine, I take off, it seems normal, I give the gas and then it starts, it seems that only three cylinders are working. I think it might be different. I got to Obninsk, no, 500 km on such a car. It's dangerous to drive; you might end up on the road. I turn around and go home. I call the guys back and say that I’ve broken down and will come tomorrow or today, but in the evening. In general, I won’t describe it in detail, but the coil on the spark plug flew, replace it and off you go. The lake is located, as I already wrote, in the Novgorod region. To get there, I had to go along the Leningrad highway to Valdai, then turn left and go to Nikolskoye, first on asphalt, then on concrete, and then on sand rolled by a grader. From Maloyaroslavets to Mesta it turned out to be 518 kilometers. Travel time 6 hours. In autumn there are noticeably fewer cars on Leningradka than in summer. Even in Vyshny Volochyok there was practically no traffic jam.
Having arrived at the point, it’s good that the guys sent the coordinates to the GPS, I began to change clothes and unload, my further journey had to take place by water. The owner of the base, Yuri, had to take me to the base in his boat, which is 10 kilometers by water. Knowing the quirks of autumn and open water, I decided to dress thoroughly, with a winter jacket and waders. Then I didn’t regret it, because there was wind and waves on the open water, the spray was flying great, and it started to rain. If I hadn’t changed my clothes, I would have arrived all wet. My colleagues were waiting for me on the shore, urging me on because they were completely hungry. We were given a remote house to stay in. The house is two storeys (we lived on the first floor) on the first floor there is a tiras and two rooms. There is a Russian stove between two rooms. When ordering a house for ourselves, we used a cooking service and therefore did not cook ourselves. You know, I have never regretted the money I paid for this service. The food was very tasty and varied. After a short snack, we collect gear, inflate the boats, put on the engines and set off. I mainly fished with wobblers (twitching), sometimes jigged. Igor caught with a spinner, and Sergei tried everything. It is impossible to say that some baits worked better, since on average everyone caught about the same. Igor, as a rule, fished near reeds and water lilies, along the shore. Sergey, I tried it traditionally everywhere, both at depth and near the grass. I mainly fished in open water, since I had an echo sounder, I looked for interesting terrain, anchored and fished this place. Mostly I found underwater islands, these are small navels with a depth difference from 0.5 -1.5 meters to 4 - 8 meters. There must be algae on the belly buttons.
This method worked very well and it was rare that I didn’t remove a pike or perch from such a place. In general, the terrain on the lake is very interesting; everyone will find a suitable area for their own method of spinning fishing. Let it be jig, twitching, trolling. Of course, this requires an echo sounder. The maximum depth I found was 21 meters. There were differences from 4 to 16 meters, but this was mainly along the river bed. My catch consisted mostly of pike, the largest being about 1 kg. Not a trophy, but the goal was not to catch a 10 kg pike. She took well on wobblers, but in order for her to bite, it was necessary to take a long pause, about 6 seconds. The wobblers were slowly sinking and all the bites were on pause, when the wobbler does not play, but slowly sinks. As I already wrote, I didn’t catch it for long with a jig, but all the large perch were caught with it, and also a couple of pike. There was one evening that I completely devoted to jigging, I found a small island of reeds that stuck out of the water, and near it I dropped 5 meters, and that’s where I jigged. All the pike stood around a log that lay at the bottom. The pike took it very carefully, I couldn’t detect everything, since I was fishing with a non-snagging hook (offset hook). As soon as you place the double, you immediately leave the bait on the log. That evening I returned from fishing very happy, although I didn’t catch a pike with a jig, but I caught a little in the bays with wobblers.
By autumn standards, we got up early at 8 o’clock, straight to the water, then at about 11 o’clock we arrived for breakfast, hot tea, pancakes or apple pie, as well as fried eggs or porridge. Then again on the water and until 15 o’clock, we had dinner and again on the water, until dark, and in the evening we had dinner. Sergey caught the largest fish among us, a 3 kg pike. That day was full of adventures. There is something to remember. One day we were smoking fish, Igor was in charge, the fish turned out delicious. Sitting now with a mug of beer and licking your fingers, you remember how great we had at Lake Velje, mentally. Everyone did what they wanted at the moment, some went fishing, some were just sleeping, some went to pick mushrooms, the mushrooms were given to Svetlana (this is the local chef who prepared our food). She then fried them for us with potatoes. This is how the 6 days flew by. Sergey, Igor, thank you for the excellent company, see you fishing. PS The weather there is very changeable, sometimes the sun, sometimes the wind, and if there is wind, then there are big waves on the open wave. Be careful. And wear life jackets.

Where to stay on the lake?
What does Lake Velje advertise? Reviews! Camp sites with tents, recreation centers, guest houses - these are the establishments that will accept those wishing to spend the night. In the summer season, especially on weekends, there are always a lot of people on the coast, and finding a good parking place becomes a problem. But what to do if you still don’t want to completely give up the benefits of civilization? Then the solution comes naturally - recreation centers and guest houses. Let's take a closer look at the latter.
As mentioned above, there are a lot of sandy beaches on the lake. Near one of them there are two guest houses that will make your outdoor recreation cozy and comfortable. They are built in a clearing, where they are illuminated by the warm rays of the sun during the day. The houses are surrounded on all sides by pine forest. The air here is delightful, saturated with the aromas of pine needles. Even on the hottest days you can breathe freely and easily. The houses are built of wood; only natural materials were used in decoration. The rooms have a built-in stove, so they are always warm even in winter. They are designed for a small number of people: from 6 to 12. Inside, tourists will find new furniture made in a rustic style, household appliances (TV, kettle, stoves). There is also a washbasin, a cellar for storing hunters' catch and spoils, and an equipped kitchen.
The administration has created all the conditions so that tourists do not get bored during their vacation. Directly from the pier you can fish, hunt in the spruce forest, go to the forest to pick berries and mushrooms, and go on excursions accompanied by a ranger. In warm weather, visitors will find Lake Velye (Novgorod region). On the beach you can sunbathe, swim in the clearest water, and go diving.
There are two bathhouses located on the shore itself. After the steam room, you can immediately plunge into the cool water of the lake. Guest houses provide complex meals, which include dishes prepared from natural products. Equipment and inventory rentals are available here.
Fishing tackle and baits
As a result, for fishing we got one ordinary cheap rod, one reel, a supply of hooks, floats, sinkers, bait from porridge boiled with sunflower oil, another rod from a young long and elastic branch. Of the reliable things we had with us, we only had high-quality fishing line, with a declared weight of “up to 45 kilograms.” For bait we only had bread, worms and boiled potatoes.
In general, armed with simple fishing rods and the supply of provisions necessary for a long fishing trip, we set out, or rather, swam out. We decided to swim to the other side of the lake, where the places were completely uninhabited. As it turned out, this is not an easy task on such waves. The bow was constantly flooded with water, turning almost the wrong way, the waves tried to turn the kayak over, but my friend and I confidently walked towards the goal. Having received an adrenaline rush from crossing the water obstacle, we approached the shore and swam along it, looking for an interesting place for fishing.
Having walked along the shore for about five hundred meters, we found an interesting backwater filled with water lilies, mud and other plants. The entrance to the creek was narrow, so the water there was calm and without waves. Many trees bent towards the water, and some were already lying in it. Approaching one of these trees, we tied ourselves to it with twine and began fishing.
Fishing went briskly - there were bites one after another, and there was also a catch often, but the problem was that the catch was mainly small crucian carp, bream, perch and bleak. The perches were a little larger, and it was more pleasant to pull them, the perch is a predatory fish, it resists and resists well. We tried all the baits, all the casting places - but we caught nothing but small things.
“At Kolya’s” and “Zhenya’s”
A hunting lodge called “At Kolya’s” offers tourists accommodation for the duration of their vacation in a room of 80 m2. Literally a stone's throw from it is Lake Velje. The recreation centers located in this territory are focused not only on beach holidays. Fishermen and hunters often stop here. Especially for them, a spacious cellar was built in the house, in which everyone can store their trophies.
The building itself is two storeys. It has only three rooms: two of them are located on the first floor, one on the second. Heating is carried out according to the principle of village houses. Amenities on site. There is electricity, which is generated using a mobile generator. Guests can while away their time watching a TV with cable channels. For accommodation one person will have to pay from 750 rubles. Meals are paid separately - 1000 rubles. per person per day.

50 fishing athletes - a new regional record
Fishing sport in the Pskov region is becoming more and more popular every year. More and more athletes are participating in affordable and exciting competitions, held regularly in winter and summer. The open championship of the Pskov region in sports lures, which was successfully held on January 30 on the picturesque forest lake Velye, in the Pushkinogorsky district, was no exception.
“Today exactly 50 athletes registered,” the chief judge of the competition, a judge of the republican category, Pskov resident Igor Ivanov told Pskovskaya Pravda. – This is a new record for winter lure competitions. Geography is also expanding. The athletes represented six districts of our region, and guests from St. Petersburg, led by the President of the Fishing Sports Federation Igor Bashuev, also competed. There were fears that due to severe frosts many would not come to the competition. But, to the delight of the organizers and participants of the championship, the weather had mercy, the frosts subsided, and the competition was a success in all respects. The lake was a pleasant surprise: such significant catches had not happened here for a long time - both pike and large perch broke off more than one tackle. The champion of the region was Andrey Ovchinnikov , a serviceman from Pskov. The catch with a total weight of 3 kg 764 g (including 1.5 kg pike) allowed him to confidently win first place and fulfill the necessary conditions for awarding him the title of candidate master of sports. Second place was taken by a guest from St. Petersburg, Viktor Mataev , with a catch of 2 kg 970. But what makes us most happy is the women. Recently, they not only participate in our competitions, but also constantly push men off the pedestal. Last year, at the summer competitions, the prize-winning place was taken by Pskovian Lyubov Solovyova , and now Natalya Voznesenskaya from Ostrov has wiped the nose of fifty fishermen. Her toothy beauty (exact weight – 2.366 kg) brought the overall third place in the regional championship, for which the fisherman received great respect from all men and a prize for the largest fish,” the chief judge concluded the story with particular warmth.
For the second time in a row, guests from the northern capital of Russia attended the Pskov competitions. They unanimously expressed complete satisfaction with the organization of the competition, and were quite surprised by both the number of participants and the generosity of the sponsors. St. Petersburg athletes promised not to miss our championships in the future.
At the end of the competition, Igor Ivanov thanked all participants, organizers and sponsors. The championship was a success. The next competition, but now for ice fishing with jigs, will take place in March. Our newspaper will inform you additionally about the place and time of the event.
Your questions are our answers
Burbot is a cold-loving and expensive fish
– I know that there are burbot in the Pskov-Peipus reservoir and now it is in its spawning period. Is it possible to catch him? Gennady PARKHOMOV, Pskov
Severe Epiphany frosts coincide with the spawning period of such almost exotic fish as burbot. From mid-January to early February, burbots migrate from the depths of the lake to the sand and stone shallows. They go to spawning grounds in large flocks and move along only one underwater “path” known to them. Having chosen a place, the female “digs” a nest and lays eggs; the male, in turn, fertilizes her and for some time protects the spawning area from attacks on the offspring . Spawning occurs only at night, at various depths, but always with a hard bottom. According to the description of Canadian ichthyologists, during the spawning itself, 10-12 burbot, males and females, are woven into a kind of ball that rolls along the bottom, and the fish in it continuously move . It is during this period that burbot is most active and aggressive, and it is at this time that it is often caught on fishing gear.
“The burbot population in Lakes Pskov and Lake Peipus is now much smaller than it was in the 90s of the last century,” explains Sergei ARTAMONOV, head of the territorial department of state control, supervision and fisheries protection for the Pskov region . – Catching burbot during the spawning period is not prohibited; fishing is also allowed, using so-called stakes. Amateur fishermen now catch burbot using lures and girders (no more than 10 pieces per person). Unfortunately, prohibited gear, such as a sharpa, is very often used. This barbaric method of fishing causes great harm to the fish, and therefore it is prohibited.
Our fishing inspection knows all the main spawning grounds for burbot (on Lake Pskov - near Cape Vyachek, near Stary Mtezh Island, near the village of Drislivik; on Chudskoye - near the village of Klenno, near the village of Raskopel) and regularly monitors them. Violators of the rules face a considerable fine (500 rubles for each head of burbot, plus 1 to 2 thousand rubles for damage caused to biological resources), and illegal fishing gear is also confiscated. Burbot poachers have decreased recently, but, unfortunately, they still occur. So, in January, inspectors of the Gdovsky separate unit issued about a dozen protocols for such violations. I assume that during the spawning period there will be more such documents.
I’m not a supporter of fines and punishments, but sometimes you can’t do without them!

Lake Velje: how to get there?
There are two ways to get to the lake: by private car or public transport. Let's look at each option in more detail.
By car, travel is carried out along the Moscow - St. Petersburg highway. You need to go to the sign for the city of Valdai. After it, after a hundred meters there will be a turn to Demyansk. Next you need to drive about 25 km along the main highway. The road will be asphalted. Near Ivanteevo it will change to concrete. At the fork, which is about 3 km away, you need to turn left. Continue driving until the next fork. Here turn right and continue along the dirt road. In 2-3 km there will be B. Ukleina. This village is located at the extreme northern point of the reservoir. If you need to get to the western shore, there will be a right turn near the village.
Now about a trip to Lake Velje using public transport. If for some reason you don’t have a car, you can use the train and bus. Trains run to Valdai from Pskov. You can already get to Demyansk by bus. If suddenly there is no intercity flight, then you can catch a ride on the Moscow - St. Petersburg highway. An excellent option would be to take a passing car to Osinushki. There's a lake already very close. The path is, of course, difficult, but a holiday in Velha is worth it.
