Fishes and reservoirs of the Novosibirsk region

The Ob and Om rivers flow through the region, and the Ob Sea is located, which is what the local population calls the Novosibirsk Reservoir. In addition, there is the opportunity to go fishing on the lakes.

More than five dozen species of fish live in the region’s water basin. The most common are crucian carp, perch and bream. There are lampreys and even valuable sturgeon.

9 species of fish living in the Novosibirsk region are listed in the Red Book of Russia.

The Ob River is distinguished by the richest underwater world; among its inhabitants there are many representatives of valuable species. These are sturgeon, sterlet, taimen, lenok, Siberian grayling and a number of others.

The second most species-rich region is the Ob Sea. About two dozen species of fish swim in the reservoir. These are river perch, burbot, minnow, ruffe, pike, crucian carp of various types, carp and others.

Regardless of the chosen reservoir, you can catch crucian carp, pike, roach, bream and pike perch in the region. Almost every lake and, of course, rivers are rich in them.

Fishing tips

If you plan to hunt predatory fish, then you should choose trolling gear and fish with girders. Such fishing is possible in the summer (when the girder is made from foam plastic, on which live bait gear is wound) and in the cold season (during this period they hunt with vertical lures, ordinary girders are used for winter). It is worth catching pike and pike perch in deep holes or at the edge of underwater thickets.

If the target is a roach. The best means is float gear, a feeder - for individuals of impressive size. Bread crumb, pearl barley porridge, and maggots are suitable for luring.

One of the most popular types of fish is bream. It is caught all year round, but the bite is especially effective in May and with the onset of autumn. In May, it is preferable to catch bream in the underwater edges, near the reaches. In autumn, a larger catch is guaranteed by river mouths, rifts, and entrances to pits. The bait can be identical to fishing for roach, you can also use a worm.

The best fishing spots on the rivers of the Novosibirsk region

The river is included in the list of the largest in the Russian Federation; of the fifty species of fish noted in the Ob, 35 are commercial. In addition to the valuable species already noted above, it is possible to catch burbot, minnows, perches, pike, roach, crucian carp and a number of others in the river. Moreover, you can fish in almost any area from the shore, but the best catch will be for those who do it from a boat.

This diversity of species is due to the terrain through which the Ob flows, somewhere it passes through forests, in other places through the steppe, somewhere bays are formed, somewhere – valley areas. As a result, conditions and habitats are created in one river that are suitable for various species of fish, and therefore for their catching.

As for gear, the most commonly used ones are spinning rods and float rods.

So, the latter are excellent for catching perch, crucian carp, bream and carp, if you get to the village of Verkh-Suzun. There, after high water, there is a chance to catch an impressive size pike using a spinning rod.

If you want to catch ides, you will have to go to the other side of the Ob.

About the features of catching ide in the waters of the Ob - in the video:

It is worth remembering that if the goal is fish of the sturgeon genus, then you should find out in advance the species recorded in the Red Book, as well as those that require a separate permit to catch.

Pike fishing

The best places for fishing are reaches. The bottom is clean here and the risk of losing bait is low.

The gear must include thick fishing line (minimum 0.22), steel or other durable wiring.

Among the fishing methods:

  • spinning rod, which can be used both from a boat and from land;
  • trolling;
  • girders, it is better to use them in bays and estuaries.

For luring, spoons, twisters, spinners, vibrating tails, and various wobblers can be used.

Fishing for zander

For such a catch, you should go to the tributary rivers. One of the popular ones is a tributary of the Chaus River, which is not far from the administrative center. It is also worth going to the riverbed sections of the Ob River, the landmark is the village of Skala, opposite which they are located.

In other parts of the river, pike perch are also found, but luck, as a rule, smiles on those who fish from a boat.

Perch fishing

Perch in the Ob River is varied and abundant. These include bottom species, weighing up to 500 grams, and coastal minke whales, weighing 1/10 of a kilogram.

If the goal is a large perch, then you should go to areas at the bends of the channel where there are deep pools, it’s great if there is a riffle or sandbank nearby. You can meet perch behind rapids, dams, on dumps and in pits.

Autumn fishing on the Ob (pike, carp, pike perch, perch)

Autumn fishing on the Ob is quite an exciting activity, the main trophies of which are pike and pike perch, but for real professionals it will not be difficult to catch fat perch or catch a trophy carp in the autumn. Knowing the behavior of fish in the fall and choosing the right bait and gear, you can enjoy autumn fishing and get a solid catch of pike perch, pike, perch or carp.

Autumn fishing for pike.

Autumn pike fishing , due to the increase in zhora in this type of fish, is always characterized by a high bite. After all, autumn is the time when pike comes to its senses after the summer heat, it becomes more active and begins to put on fat. It is in the fall that the predator is active, it moves around a lot and grabs everything that comes in its way: small fish, insects and, of course, fishing baits. Therefore, even novice anglers are guaranteed a decent catch of pike in the fall . Pike usually go out hunting in the morning and evening hours, but in the fall you can observe an excellent bite throughout the day, so it will be easy for you to choose the time for autumn pike fishing.

Autumn fishing for pike perch.

Autumn fishing for pike perch begins at the beginning of September, in October the bite increases, and towards mid-November it gradually subsides, but there are still cases when it is possible to catch trophy pike perch a week before freeze-up. However, most fishermen, having enjoyed an excellent catch of pike perch in October, put away their fishing rods until spring or the beginning of winter fishing. After all, the most successful month for catching pike perch in the fall is October, when pike perch is more active in search of food and grabs everything that moves, including fishing baits. The main hunting time for pike perch is night, so if you want to enjoy autumn fishing for pike perch , then you need to go night fishing, when all the extraneous noises subside, you can enjoy fishing for pike perch with a jig.

Autumn fishing for perch.

Autumn fishing for perch is also significantly different from catching it in any other period. The behavior of a predator depends on many factors, such as: air temperature, wind strength, atmospheric pressure and even the bloom of water in a reservoir. Perch prefers calm, sunny weather, without sudden changes in temperature and pressure. Perch fishing in September is characterized by an increased bite due to the high activity of fish, which is associated with a decrease in water temperature and its saturation with oxygen. In October, the activity of predators noticeably decreases, perch freezes at depth and gathers in schools to go to their wintering grounds. But November is an excellent month for autumn fishing for perch; predators gather in large flocks at depth, where you can try your luck at catching perch with a spinning rod. The best time to catch perch in the fall is morning and evening.

Autumn fishing for carp.

Catching carp in the fall is the work of real professionals! After all, autumn fishing for carp, due to a number of difficulties, is not always accessible to a beginner. In addition, for most fishermen, meeting a carp is a great success. And only an experienced fisherman can catch one of the largest non-predatory fish that stands apart in the autumn. Therefore, it is important to have special knowledge in order to go fishing for carp in the fall, choosing a place, gear and feeding in accordance with the preferences of this fish. The carp bites until the beginning of November and prefers to stay in river beds, choosing deep sections under high steep cliffs, where the bottom is littered with snags or has a muddy base. Which also makes it difficult for the fisherman to catch it.

Our recreation center “On the Edge” is located in a picturesque area of the Altai Territory, near the town of Kamen-on-Obi, where you will find wonderful autumn fishing on the Ob for pike, carp, perch, pike perch, bream and many other types of fish, which are in abundance are present in the Ob River with its channels, numerous oxbow lakes and lakes in the vicinity of our base.

The best fishing spots on the Novosibirsk lakes

Lake Chany

Chan is the largest Western Siberian lake, the water in it is salty, there is no flow.

The average depth is 2 meters, the area is variable, the maximum is 2000 sq. km.

The lake is formed by reaches and channels, shallow water. The shore is low, overgrown with bushes and reeds, there are reed thickets and areas of sedge. The bottom is silt and sand.

It is important to know! The lake can be dangerous in windy conditions. Therefore, it is not worth going out on a boat when the water body is very rough. There have been cases of death of fishermen.

The place is in demand, fishing is available all year round.

Among the types of fish that can be caught are: perch, silver crucian carp, pike perch, carp, and ide. Bream, roach, and pike are caught less often.

The best places in the cold season, including ice fishing, are near the Yarkovsky Reach.

Fishing in the summer months:

  • Near the Chinyakhinsky Reach - all types of fish;
  • Near the Tagano-Kazantsevsky reach there are crucian carp, pike perch, carp, ide, and less often roach and perch.

Lake Sartlan

It is one of the three largest in the region, its area is 238 sq. km. The water is slightly salted. The bottom is covered with silt, the maximum depth level is no more than a couple of meters. The bank is low, densely overgrown with grass and bushes.

The lake is covered with ice, reaching 1.2 meters in thickness, in October, which lasts until May.

Perch, roach, crucian carp, pike, ide, and dace are caught in the lake. Peled and carp are bred artificially.

Pointing out the most fishy places is quite problematic, as they change. However, if you want to catch Yazey, then the most fishy ones will be at the mouths of rivers near Taskaevo. Large crucian carp are more often found near Krasny Yar.

As for the seasons, you can catch perch and chebak here all year round. May is the time of ides and soroga. From the beginning of summer you can hunt for carp.

Lake Yarkul

The lake is located 30 km from the village of Kupino. Its area is 489 hectares. Yarkul is a very popular place among fishing connoisseurs and ordinary vacationers, famous for its rich underwater world. However, due to the fact that the reservoir is exploited to maintain the fish population in the Chano-Barabinsky lakes, fishing here has certain limits and prohibitions.

Bream

Fishing on Yarkul is possible with only one fishing rod, float or bottom, the number of hooks is 1 or 2, no more. Fishing is allowed only from land; fishing is prohibited in winter.

However, even with such strict rules, fishing here is a guaranteed catch. Common specimens include roach, bream, perch, and crucian carp.

Michael (Shakespeare)

- I’ll tell you about one of the most promising city spots - about the Tula Pit. This is a place where you can always try your luck at catching pike. Moreover, both from a boat and from the shore, if there is a ban on fishing with spinning rods from boats, for example.

Fishing from the shore on the Tula Pit is different in that you are unlikely to get a large number of bites (the absence of pike bites is also the norm), but the likelihood that after the coveted blow to the hand you will end up with a heavy, toothy one on the hook is much higher than in most urban coastal places . The Tula pit is home to the food supply of pike: bream, roach. This peaceful fish spends the winter here, stopping here during various migrations and changes of locations. Some areas of the pit are rich in mollusks, which are the food source for many fish.

Pike fishing in the Tula pit is jig fishing. When fishing from the shore, try to ensure that you cast as far as possible; do not be afraid to overestimate the weight of the Cheburashka used. Moving along the shore, this will help you find fish as quickly as possible, and in case of contact without catching, you can lose weight.

Remember that on the left side of the pit, on the side towards the communal bridge, not far from the shore (depending on the current water level) and along it, there is a cable that collects the bait of onlookers. The situation requires reeling out the bait in advance; there is no need to lead it to the shore.

Be patient, this is not a place where there are extravaganzas of bites - be on alert so as not to miss the one and only one.

Of course, there were days here, after the ice melted, when coastal fishing was full of bites from many large fish: ide, pike perch, large crucian carp, pike. But these are the stories of a few days a year, which, moreover, are not repeated from year to year.

No tail, no scales!

Places for the best fishing on the Ob

A wide range of towns and small hamlets located along the Ob River allows a large number of citizens who want to go fishing to settle in good places that have already been prepared and “equipped” by other fishermen and local residents.

In addition to comfort, the following places also include a high probability of catching fish by an angler:

  • Verkh-Suzun is a small village located on the right bank of the river. In this place, according to reviews, you can catch carp, crucian carp, pike, perch and bream. If you go a little higher upstream (behind the village on the right side), you can bring home a lot of ide, which is often caught with a spinning rod. Among other things, it is worth saying that fishing in the territory of this locality and on the river as a whole is completely free;
  • Kudryashevsky is a village located near the regional center of Novosibirsk, which cannot but be considered good news for urban fishermen. The best, truly “fishing” places are located near Bear Island. Fauna such as crucian carp, pike, roach and perch can be caught;
  • Ilyich is a village that originates near Barnaul. Local residents claim that an excellent bite can most often be observed in the area of the so-called Dam. Regarding what kind of inhabitants this water area is inhabited, it is noted that here you can easily catch bream, crucian carp and ruffe;

The best time for fishing on the Ob

Considering the fact that the reservoir includes a lot of fish, both heat-loving and cold-loving, it is impossible to say that some time of the year is less or more fruitful in terms of catch and bite.

  • Spring: This period of the year on the river begins only in the month of April, when the ice has completely melted. At first, the activity of the fish can be understood due to the “winter hunger strike”, and after that, the matter is clear - spawning alternates;
  • Summer:
      Until the end of June, freshwater inhabitants are extremely active due to the aforementioned spawning. Towards the end of summer, fishing is also active, during which you can catch a lot of fish with caviar;
  • Autumn:
      Some argue that in the fall the fauna residents are not as active as before, which is understandable. Some say that in the fall the season for fishing with spinning rods for such species as ide, sturgeon, pike and perch just opens;
  • Winter:
      This period is characterized by frosts and strong winds. But, even in such unfavorable weather, you can observe a stable bite of pike, carp and crucian carp;
  • JIG SIZE

    The size of the jig bait is often the main factor when fishing for pike, so choosing a bait based on this parameter should be taken very seriously. Therefore, the first thing you need to do if there is no bite is to experiment with the size of the jig bait.

    When choosing a size, you need to be guided by three main factors: the type of fish, the required casting distance and the strength of the current. Moreover, the determining factor is the type of fish you are going to catch.

    So, for catching pike, I most often use the largest jig baits ranging in size from 7 to 15 centimeters or more, in a reasonable sense.

    Believe me, the size of the bait will not scare away the pike. Once, while cleaning a pike, I had the opportunity to remove a rather large roach from a predator. Judge for yourself…

    When fishing in a strong current. A large bait floats heavily in the water and is quickly carried away by the current, and therefore sometimes you may not even wait for it to touch the bottom. So, when casting long distances and when fishing in strong currents, you should use small, compact baits.

    When choosing the size of the bait, one should not forget that a wide-bodied bait, although the same length as a narrow-bodied one, is perceived by the fish as a larger object. And one more thing - the wider the bait, the heavier the head it can be equipped with, because a wide bait creates more resistance in the water than a narrow one and, accordingly, glides longer when there is a pause in the retrieve.

    Fishing gear on the Ob

    This river, having a large length and a mass of fish species, allows its fishermen guests to try a variety of fishing gear, which, as it turns out, bears fruit.

    In other words, almost all of the existing fishing gear is excellent for fishing on the Ob River:

    • Spinning (often fished with spinning all year round): Fishing is done exclusively from the shore, at least it is the one that brings the highest results;
    • Often, spinning is used only when you want to catch predatory fish: perch, pike or burbot;
  • Float tackle (has a certain classification: Bolognese, fly, match, gyteker):
      As regular fishermen who spend a lot of time on the Ob advise, it is advisable to choose rods made of bamboo or birch;
  • Donka (often, these are spinning rods made independently, or rather, converted into donka):
      Dung worms, corn, bread can be used as bait;
  • If you want to catch a predatory fish, you need to use “double” or “triple” hooks instead of standard ones, using “live bait” as bait;
  • Winter gear (there are many types):
      Fishing with a jig;
  • Lure fishing (if you want to catch predatory fish);
  • September bream fishing

    In the first half of September, bream is also active. However, with the first cold snap it is unlikely that it will be possible to catch a large specimen. In preparation for winter, bream moves to deep holes away from the shore, and there is no way to lure it out of there until spring.

    Small specimens still come out to feed in warm weather, but you can catch them only by knowing where and what this fish bites in September.

    You should look for small bream in early autumn in deep snags, on riffles or channel edges. It is best to fish from a boat using a side rod or using a tackle such as a ring. When fishing from the shore, you can use feeder tackle or a regular donkey.

    The same dung worm, crawler or bunch of bloodworms are good as bait.
