The area of the water surface is always changing and is in the range of 345–356 square kilometers. But the average depth is small: only 1.5 or 2 meters, although individual pits reach a depth of 5 meters. The following fish live in the lake:

  • crucian carp;

  • Ide;
  • Perch;
  • Zander;

When the ice melts from the channels, fishermen postpone until next winter and begin to actively catch pike, the average size of which is up to 5 kilograms. Lake Lacha

By mid-April, only small bee-eaters begin to be caught on spinning rods. Therefore, spinning rods fade into the background, as active fishing for linen begins in Arkhangelsk, the king of which is bream. Local experienced fishermen help track the movement of schools of bream, otherwise the bite will be inconsistent. Fishing for bream in the Arkhangelsk region continues until the beginning of the May days.

From May, crucian carp begin to catch on the hook. If fishing is carried out throughout the day, you can catch up to 4 fish, the weight of which is about two kilograms. When fishing for crucian carp, other types of fish related to leucorrhoea may also be hooked. Sometimes you come across small squirrels, but isn’t it better to release them?

Lake Lacha is located in the Kargopol district of the Arkhangelsk region. The average depth of the reservoir is about 2 m. In some areas there are extensive holes with depths of more than 6 m. 12 rivers flow into the lake, the largest of which are:

Onega flows out in the northern part. Numerous bays and oxbows are formed in the tributary delta. The ichthyofauna of the lake is very diverse and is represented by the following fish species:

The lake is quite shallow and warms up well in summer. This circumstance has led to the fact that there are relatively few salmon species there. Most anglers come here to catch bream. This fish actively bites on Lache throughout the year.

Ide is also often caught by fishermen who come to Lache. If in summer it consistently bites on small spinners and wobblers, then in winter it responds well to jigs with a worm and small vertical spoons. The most promising places for catching it are considered to be the mouths of numerous tributaries.

There is only one settlement on the lake called Nokola. The reservoir is navigable and commercial fishing is carried out here all year round. The fishing company operating here produces its catch in accordance with all the rules, so the potential of Lach is not undermined.

The Pinega River originates in the Pinega district of the Arkhangelsk region and is one of the largest tributaries of the Northern Dvina. The total length of the water artery is 780 km, and the average depth is 1.5 m. In the lower reaches there are holes more than 8 m deep. There are multiple riffles along the entire length. It is distinguished by a huge number of large and small tributaries. With certain skills, an angler who comes here will be able to catch:

The Pinega is one of the main salmon rivers in the Arkhangelsk region. Fishing for this predator on the river is permitted in certain areas and only with fly fishing gear. To fish, you will need to purchase a license, which is quite expensive.

The Onega River is also one of those waterways of the North where salmon come to spawn. It flows out of Lake Lacha and flows into the White Sea. Its total length is just over 400 km. The main part flows through the Arkhangelsk region. It has 3586 tributaries, the largest of which include:

At the mouth, where the Salmon River merges with the White Sea, it has a very impressive size. The following fish species are caught in this area:

Fishing in Arkhangelsk in winter

Winter fishing in the region belonging to the Northern Territory can be carried out in Arkhangelsk itself. Fishing within the city on the Northern Dvina is the most affordable option. But here the population of representatives of the ichthyofauna is declining every year. This is the merit of the enterprises that dump dirty waste into the Northern Dvina. While the ichthyofauna has not completely disappeared, you can catch perch and ruffe here, and if you are a professional fisherman, you will certainly catch whitefish and pike.

Winter fishing is successfully carried out in the forest lakes of the Arkhangelsk region: Izhmozero and Smerdye. In the first case, you will need a local guide. In the second case, it will not be needed, since Smerdye is located next to the M8 highway. There are no cold winds here, and the catch can consist of bream, bream, ruff, perch and roach.

But in order to fish here, you must get to the fishing site in off-road vehicles and take with you the necessary equipment, then smelt and navaga will certainly catch on your hooks!

Many of them are located in deserted places, untouched by civilization, attracting fishermen and connoisseurs of the ascetic beauty of northern nature. Arriving at the lakes of the Arkhangelsk region, it is easy to fall under the charm of the Russian hinterland: there are about 4 thousand villages, more than 800 of which are abandoned.
