Fishing places

Reservoirs of the Sverdlovsk region
Beloyarsk reservoir

The surrounding area of the reservoir can be of interest to both hunters and fishermen. Recently, boat stations and well-groomed beaches have been built here. Dense vegetation in forest areas attracts many people who like to pick mushrooms and berries. The depth of the reservoir can reach 11 m, and the water is heated from the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant, which is a favorable factor for fish reproduction.

Typically, on the territory of the reservoir you can catch bream weighing 3 kg, and pike perch - 6 kg. But more often, anglers fail to catch fish heavier than 1 kg. You also need to take into account that in winter, pike perch is caught using a zherlitsa, and small specimens are caught using a raspberry. In summer, a large catch can be caught using a spinning rod with live bait.

The pump station area is good terrain for any angler. There is good access for transport here. And through Berezovsky and Sarapulka you can come to a site where you can park your car almost near the shore. A good bite can be found in the creeks on the other side of the shore at a distance of 400 meters from the parking lot.

Verkhnetagil reservoir

This reservoir is located near the city of Verkhniy Tagil. The water is fresh, and the bottom is thick with algae. The reservoir is a small type with excessive heating.

Dvurechenskoye Reservoir

The reservoir is located in the lower reaches of the Sysert River and therefore it was called Nizhne-Sysertsky. It is of an artificial type and now belongs to a private territory belonging to the Dvurechensky fishery. The reservoir is under 24-hour security and is located 50 kilometers from the city of Yekaterinburg. A visit to the Dvurechensky reservoir is a good option for outdoor recreation. The shore and bottom are sandy, there is a smooth descent into the water. Only near the dam can large stones be encountered. The reservoir is a source of water for drinking and for this reason, motorized boats cannot be used.

Big Sungul Lake

The lake is located near the forest belt of the Ural region of the Sverdlovsk region, 170 km from the city of Chelyabinsk. It has an oval shape with a length of more than 2 kilometers, its depth can reach up to 7 m. Commercial fishing is carried out on the lake. Resources are maintained through stocking and spawning. Those who like to hunt must pay 150 rubles. and get a ticket to Rybnikov.

In Lake Bolshoy Sungul you can catch crucian carp and bastards; whitefish and ripus; pike and perch; ruffs. You can fish throughout the year. In summer, you can fish both from the shoreline and from boats. For carp fish, it is necessary to use a donk or a float; baits can be artificial or plant-based.

It is recommended to catch predatory fish using spinning rods and circles, whitefish species - using bottom tackle from the shore. In winter, fishing is carried out throughout the entire length of the reservoir. It is recommended to hunt on the first or last ice.

Lake Tygish

Twice they tried to breed whitefish in the lake, but it never took root. In summer, a lot of people catch crucian carp and it is rare to catch carp and grass carp. Some hunters catch pike, but pike perch are caught only in exceptional cases. In winter, the popularity of visiting this place is the same as in summer. You may not catch crucian carp, but pike and perch can bite throughout the year, because there are four strong aerators on the territory of the reservoir almost throughout the winter.

general information

Despite the fact that civilization has made adjustments, mostly negative, to many rivers of the Sverdlovsk region, fishing there is still interesting and exciting. Many rivers of the Sverdlovsk region originate in the mountain ranges of the Urals and their waters are inhabited by taimen, grayling and other salmon.

The main rivers flowing through the territory of the Sverdlovsk region are Lozva, Ufa, Iset, Pyshma, Sosva, Pelma, Chusovaya. Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region is mainly focused on them. As for the lakes, the most popular among fishermen of the Sverdlovsk region are lakes Tavtuy, Beloyarka, Bagaryak, Tygish, Volchikha, Kalinovka.

Most of the rivers of the Sverdlovsk region are inhabited by the same species that predominate in the rivers of the central regions: pike, bream, pike perch, roach, ide, chub, perch, ruff, rudd.

Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region in the basin of the Tavda River and its tributaries Sosva and Lozva is very promising. Taimen, nelma and grayling are still found there today. The rivers of the region are distinguished by a huge variety of bottom topography and coastline, this makes it possible with a high degree of probability to identify promising places and even sort river sections according to the species composition of fish.

For example, on river riffles you can hope to catch grayling and chub, and in areas where the current is weak there is a high probability of meeting perch and pike. Another advantage of fishing on rivers over fishing on lakes is the opportunity to raft down rivers in search of wild and uninhabited places where you can count on a significant catch and catching trophies. Many places on rivers, especially mountain ones, have very beautiful banks and magnificent nature, and it’s a pleasure to fish there and stay overnight there.

In the winter season, boats on rivers successfully replace snowmobiles, and fishermen ride along river beds, looking for promising holes where fish have gone for the winter.
Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region

Fishing on the lakes

Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region on lakes also has broad prospects; in the region there are mountain lakes and flat lakes where you can have a good rest. Of course, many lakes, especially in mountainous areas, are inaccessible and fishing is carried out in only a few dozen lakes in the region. You can count on good fishing on the lakes Bagryak, Beloyarka, Tavtuy, Sugres, Kalinovka, Volchikha and others.

In many lakes, fishing is free, and besides, these lakes are located not far from Yekaterinburg and it’s easy and quick to get there, and the catches there are usually quite good.

It’s further to get to lakes Tygish and Bagryak, and fishing there is no longer free. And Lake Shabry and Kalinovka are famous for their catches, various amenities and comfortable conditions, which requires quite significant financial costs.

Lakes such as Bolshaya Indra, Bolshelesenskoye and some others are located in inaccessible areas, and it is difficult to get there. But those fishermen who go fishing on the shores of these lakes are guaranteed such fishing that they have never dreamed of in lakes that are easily accessible.

The average lake in the Sverdlovsk region can be described as follows: swampy or rocky shores, the working depths at which active fishing generally takes place are 2.5-6 m, the bottom is covered with silt, there is a lot of vegetation, in the best places there are often nets. The main species in the lakes for fishing are perch, pike, bream, pike perch, roach, crucian carp, and ide.

Fishing on the Ufa River

Ufa is the southernmost river of the western part of the Ural ridge and is part of the Kama River basin. The Ufa flows through the Sverdlovsk region, Chelyabinsk and Bashkiria.

The banks of the river are mostly covered with forests; very picturesque stone cliffs are often found. Ufa, like many rivers whose sources are in the Ural Mountains, is distinguished by great species diversity. Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region in Ufa is carried out for such species as bream, chebak, chub, pike, podust, char, tench, grayling, ide. The river is also inhabited by trout, taimen, and sculpin; fishing for these fish in the river is prohibited. Of course, this is not a complete list of all species inhabiting the waters of the river, but they are not the main objects for fishing in Ufa.

Most species are found within all currents of the Ufa. But some of them are found only in its lower reaches, for example, brook trout lives only in a few streams. And such a fish as taimen only occasionally rises from the lower reaches of the Ufa, into the Sverdlovsk region. The concentration of different species in different sections of the river bed is also not the same.

Amateur fishermen who know Ufa well and the fishing spots on it and in its basin claim that the best places there are Sarna, Bardym, Demid. In the lower reaches of these rivers there are almost all species of fish living in the Ufa basin. But mainly fishing in the Sverdlovsk region on these rivers is interesting for grayling fishing. The upper reaches are home to a large population of this fish, which makes grayling fishing here very promising.

In those places where rivers are regulated by a dam, grayling is usually small, but below the dam during the spawning run and for some time after it, other species of fish are successfully caught.

Of particular note is the largest tributary of Ufa - the Bisert River. Even despite the beauty of its shores and many convenient access points, local fishermen are not very fond of Bisert. According to them, the fish here are mostly not large, and the bite is inconsistent. There are reasons for this, the first of which is clayey shores; during periods of floods and heavy rains, clay becomes a source of quite strong turbidity. The second reason is that the river has a good food supply. Which makes its inhabitants quite picky and capricious. And the last reason is the widespread poaching of locals, who, in order to get fish, do not disdain the most barbaric methods of catching them.

In winter, the picture changes, and many fishermen go to Bisert to fish. The river bottom is replete with holes, and the current in these places is weak, which contributes to good catches. For fishing in the Sverdlovsk region on the Bisert River, promising places are the areas from the village of Klyuchevaya to the mouth of the river. In these places, the prevailing relief is characteristic of the middle reaches, backwaters, holes, and rifts.

The upper reaches of the Ufa River originate from Lake Ufimskoye and end at the mouth of the Serga River. This area is characterized by a large number of short small stretches and rifts. Usually the width of the river here is no more than 50 m. The river in this place is quite winding; in some places it comes almost close to the mountains, then moves away from them. This affects the characteristics of the bottom and significantly affects the density of fish of specific species in such areas. Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region in the upper reaches of Ufa is very interesting.

Grayling prefers areas with a rocky bottom and fast currents. Pike loves holes in deep reaches, but these are mostly medium-sized individuals. Chebak chooses quiet, silted and rich vegetation places. The chub prefers calm areas, but there must be a fast stream nearby. In this part of Ufa, the chub population is large, but the weight of most individuals caught here rarely exceeds 600 grams. Burbot are characterized by rocky reaches, and during the spring spawning period a lot of bream enter the upper reaches. In areas of the middle reaches, dace feels good.

If in spring and summer these areas of Ufa experience serious pressure from fishermen, then in winter there are few fishermen here.
This is due to the difficulty of fishing in fast currents. But this is an excellent place for fishermen specializing in fishing for grayling and burbot; at this time of year they achieve good results here. Everything described above mainly concerns the Serga River, its mouth is the border of the upper reaches of the Ufa. Fishing in Yekaterinburg
You can get to these areas by following the Yekaterinburg-Arti highway, after passing Mikhailovskoye you need to turn left towards the village of Shokurovo. Then you need to move parallel to the river. Almost any left turn will lead you either to the river bank or to a village located on its bank. You can also get to the Serga River from the village of Nizhniye Seryogi. These sections of the river are very popular among fishermen and lovers of outdoor recreation.

The middle course of Ufa begins at the mouth of the Serga River and ends near Krasnoufimsk. Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region in this area of Ufa may have serious problems associated with the discharge of water from the Nizhneserginsky pond. This usually happens after a flood in spring and autumn. During such periods, there is a significant increase in water level and a sharp deterioration in its transparency. After the water is released and it subsides, the fish return to their usual places only a week later.

While in mountainous areas fishing for grayling is more typical, in the middle reaches the main trophy is pike perch and pike. In winter, bleak is well caught here, and during the spawning period, burbot brings rich catches, but by spring, bream and chub become the desired bycatch. During the winter season, some anglers successfully catch perch and grayling from under the ice. In those sections of the river that flow through the plain, almost all types of fish are well caught, preferring places with a gentle current and tolerate a lack of oxygen well. The proximity of populated areas, the possibility of good catches and the capture of decent trophies make these areas very attractive for fishing on weekends.

Another promising section on the middle reaches of the Ufa, begins at Krasnoufimsk and stretches to the mouth of the Ai River, and then Ufa returns to the mountains again. The rifts here again become more powerful and the reaches deeper, and the width can reach 200 meters.

This area is also valued by fishermen because closer to the second half of August there is a massive emergence of mayflies. And these days, fishermen, at night, using headlights, prepare this valuable bait and use the mayfly as bait and groundbait until the freeze-up.

It is in these places that fishing in the Sverdlovsk region in Ufa is carried out for trophy pike, chub, asp, ide, bream, and in these areas there is also a high probability of catching taimen and catfish. The perch bites well almost everywhere. In winter, burbot and bream are excellently caught here, and closer to spring, grayling and chub.

“This is not our first time fishing here.” Fishermen in Revda went out on the ice, although there is already a drowned person in the area

The ice is still thin, but fishermen have already reached it - although this fishing may be their last. On October 29, a fisherman drowned in Volchansk (north of the region), he fell through the ice. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, an acquaintance of his went underwater with him, but they managed to save him. And such cases are not uncommon in the fall. This week it will be warm in the Sverdlovsk region, weather forecasters predict +1…+3 degrees. Meanwhile, ice on reservoirs will only strengthen at stable sub-zero temperatures for two weeks, rescuers say.

Photo // Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region - One of the fishermen was pulled out of the water by eyewitnesses, an ambulance crew provided him with medical assistance on the spot, but hospitalization was not required. The second of the failed fishermen drowned; rescuers of the Karpinsky search and rescue team extracted him from the water, explained the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Every year, early thin ice causes death in Russia. Usually these are children who walk near frozen bodies of water without their parents, and fishermen who go out at their own risk onto fragile and treacherous ice.

“Many amateur fishermen, having fallen through the ice once, go again and again, hoping for the next chance and luck, but such self-confidence only leads to irreparable tragedy. You can avoid accidents if you follow the rules and personal safety measures. One of the most common causes of tragedies on water bodies is the irresponsible behavior of people while intoxicated. People become helpless, the sense of self-preservation becomes dull, reactions slow down, and they cannot adequately respond to an emergency situation,” says Ivan Zuikov, deputy head of the 65th fire station.

Ice on reservoirs will only be strong if there are stable negative temperatures for two weeks; the ice thickness should be at least 10 centimeters. And on rivers, ice forms much later - when night temperatures remain stably around -10 °C.

After the death of a fisherman in Volchansk, on October 30, on the Medvezhka River in the area of Internationalists Street, the fishermen were already unwinding their gear with might and main. A fisherman who gave his name as Yuri, with a pretty good catch, said: the place has been tested, it’s not scary. The ice that day was 5 cm, thin and dangerous. But Yuri says: an experienced fisherman will not get into trouble (in fact, this is a false belief). He has been fishing in winter since childhood.

“This is already a proven place, this is not the first time we’ve fished here,” assures Yuri. “The catch this time is not very good, but it will do.” The ice is normal, about five centimeters, we measured it, and it can easily withstand it. Usually the first ice cracks, but does not fall through, but this one doesn’t even crack.

Both in autumn and spring, people die on thin ice. So, on April 27, 2017, a resident of Mariinsk fell through the ice on the Revdinsky city pond. The rescuers arrived and threw her a rope, dragged her across the water and handed her over to the ambulance. In Degtyarsk in 2014, a fisherman from Revda went under the ice, they rescued him, but in the end he died from hypothermia. Fortunately, no one has been injured in Revda yet this year.

Fishing Features

Summer period

The Beloyarsk Reservoir is a place where fishing is very popular in the summer. Spinning fishermen from the Sverdlovsk region usually pull in large pike perch here. Large bream bites occur in the reservoir, but successful catching of them is possible only with careful preparation of gear and if the fisherman has experience. On another reservoir, which is called Dvurechensky, you can also catch quite large pike perch and pike. Catching large carp here is popular among those who like to fish for peaceful fish.

Lake Sungul is famous for whitefish bites, which are most often caught with a spinning rod. However, recently fly fishermen with nymphs and flies have also begun to hunt for this fish. Fishing for whitefish in lakes, as a rule, is only possible in the shallows, since this fish goes there to feed. The most popular baits are light oscillating spoons. Since the whitefish's mouth is very small, the bait should be chosen in small sizes.

In rivers such as Chusovaya, the whitefish population is also large. Here it can be found almost everywhere where the river goes wide. However, catching trophy fish is only possible at depth, and near the shore, as a rule, small young fish are most often caught. In addition to whitefish, there are often bites of fairly large pike here, and on the rifts, if you try, you can catch a chub weighing more than a kilogram. Those who like to fish for peaceful fish come here for large bream and chebak, and athletes train on bleak.

Lakes Tygish and Shartash are no less promising reservoirs of the Sverdlovsk region than those described above.
On Lake Tygish pleases fishermen with classic catch - crucian carp and pike. It is worth saying that local fishermen are extremely sensitive to the ecology of the lake, so they immediately release the caught fish. And on Lake Shartash, fairly large chebak and other fish are well caught. Experienced fishermen, with knowledge of promising places, catch large carp. Fishing in the Sverdlovsk region

Winter period

Winter fishing in the Sverdlovsk region is very popular both among the local population and among tourists on Lake Baltym. This reservoir is located closest to the city of Yekaterinburg, which explains its popularity among urban fishermen. Chebaks and large perches bite well here. And the most skillful and experienced can catch burbot here.

The Ufa River is the main waterway of the Nyazepetrovsky region. Especially many fishermen of the Sverdlovsk region gather near the village of Sargaya. The common catch here is a medium-sized pike weighing about 3 kilograms and a chub. Small grayling swim here seasonally. Burbot can also be found here, but catching it here is a great success.

Fishermen from surrounding towns in the region gather at the sources of the Sosva River. They come here to catch pike, perch, tench and burbot. In winter, as a rule, burbot bite much more actively, and during this period it feeds almost around the clock. This is explained by the fact that this fish loves cold water, so in the midst of winter it is easiest to catch burbot.

Burbot is, first of all, a deep predator, so fishermen of the Sverdlovsk region carefully prepare before hunting it. As a rule, fairly heavy spoons, balancers, girders and jigs are used as bait. It should be remembered that burbot are attracted not only by the play of bright bait, but by the smell of the bait. Often, several specimens of this noble fish can be caught from one hole, since burbot goes to feed in large schools. A burbot bite on a playing bait feels like a strong blow, but very rarely the fish becomes cautious and fiddles with the bait for a very long time.

When a burbot is hooked, it is very difficult to pull it out, since it resists until the very last moment, especially at the very edge of the ice. The burbot should be lifted into the hole very quickly to prevent it from curling into a ring, otherwise you will need to scorch the burbot and try to straighten it out. A hook is a necessary thing, if a burbot is hooked, you should always have it on hand to prevent this fish from escaping. Burbot is most active at night, so fishing for it begins from evening twilight until morning.

Thus, fishing in these wonderful places will give both amateurs and professionals the full range of sensations from fighting with large and strong fish, overcoming the harsh climate of the Sverdlovsk region. Undoubtedly, fishing in these places is suitable for those with a strong spirit and patience, and reeling in trophy fish will require the fisherman to have considerable physical strength and dexterity.

Winter fishing in Yekaterinburg

A fairly large number of fish common to this area are caught in the vicinity of the city. The easiest ones to put in your bag with your catch are perch, bream and gudgeon. Often you come across crucian carp with bleak and ide. It is much less common to catch pike perch and pike; burbot are also found, but very rarely. In winter, fishing for bream and perch is very good.

There is fishing on the Iset, the river is quite clean. Recently, new treatment facilities have been launched, the level of pollution is being carefully monitored, and as a result, the fish have begun to flow. However, the fishing is still not very strong. Fishing will be much more interesting if you go to Nizhne-Isetsky or Shabrovsky ponds. The latter is located a little further, fifteen kilometers from the city, but some hotels in the city can help with delivery to the place. There are also paid reservoirs in the vicinity of the city; the fish farm in the Kalinovsky Forest Park can be especially interesting; you can even find trout here.

You can go to the Reftinskoe reservoir. It is located quite far away, but you can get there without significant difficulties. There is a very large selection of fish here, including carp, silver carp, and trout. Even further away is the Nizhnevartovsk reservoir. Getting to it is much more difficult, best by car. Next to it there are two lakes with telling names - Karasye and Shchuchye.

There is actually a lot of fish in the area. The ecological situation is very good, which means the fishing is simply excellent, because nature here seemed to be created for fishing, both summer and winter. It is quite possible that in a few years people will come here specifically from all over Russia, and even Europe.
