Chicken liver for fishing as bait. Selection of equipment for fishing for catfish. Methods for attaching chicken livers to a hook

Chicken liver as fishing bait

Such bait for chub and catfish will also be a desirable delicacy, the main thing is that the chicken liver is raw.

Tip: eating chicken liver in another form (boiled or scalded with boiling water) will reduce the effectiveness of biting, since the treated bait loses the smell of blood and the reddish color that attracts fish so much.

2.1 Methods for attaching chicken livers to a hook

  1. You can find detailed instructions on how to most effectively attach chicken livers to a hook and a double on one of our pages.
  2. The fresh liver is placed in a nylon stocking, pierced at the top and rotated around the hook and pierced with the tip of the hook. You can pre-tie the bait with thread.
  3. You can mix the bait with flour and pass the mixture through a blender (meat grinder), roll into balls and place on a hook. The flour will glue the mass together and prevent it from falling apart.

2.2 Fishing technique when using chicken liver

When using chicken liver, the bait is cast downstream (35 degrees to the water flow). The hook must be sharp, as the fish can easily rip it off the hook, since the liver is not firmly held on the hook.

How to keep your liver off the hook

The success of catching a chub with a liver depends not only on the time of year; it is important to attach it correctly and keep it on the hook , which not everyone can do at the beginning of the experiment.

Method 1. The easiest, if possible. Impale frozen liver. There are three nuances here. Weather conditions: cool early spring, when transporting and storing frozen for fishing is not a problem. Second, frequent updating of the bait, even in cold water, defrosting is quite fast. And third - frequent changes of bait, there is a risk of decline. For fishing with wires, this is not such a problem, visual control is good.

Method 2. Liver tied with thread or rubber band. This method requires some skill, but it holds the liver on the hook pretty well, which allows you to wait for the chub longer. You need to pierce the liver from one edge, pull the hook a little and pierce it from the other edge. In the center, tie a thread or pull an elastic band, grabbing the hook and bait. Almost like in the picture, I think you can figure it out.

Method 3 . Liver in a mesh. This method is easy to understand. It holds the liver on the hook perfectly, but the mesh itself can scare away the chub, although you shouldn’t be afraid of this, just keep it in mind.

The figure shows all stages of planting. This option was borrowed from somyatniks, since there it is extremely important to hold the bait for a long time.

Important. You can use not only chicken, any animal will do. Chicken is simply the most accessible and cheapest.

Thank you for your attention. I hope the article helped someone shed light on such chub bait as liver.

How to catch catfish using chicken liver

6 minutes Author: Valentin Porokhnya 0

Catfish is the largest fish found in freshwater reservoirs in the middle zone: many fishermen who specialize in catching it do not consider catfish weighing less than 10 kilograms a worthy catch. There are a lot of ways to catch river giants, but the most popular option is a variety of bottom gear. Each region has its own favorite bait options. In some places they prefer crawling fish, in others they prefer leeches and frogs; livers of various animals are also a popular bait.

Chicken hearts as fishing bait

Who can be caught with this bait:

  • chub;
  • catfish;
  • acne.

Advice:

  • use fresh, not frozen product;
  • for a good hook, you need to place the heart on the hook so that its sting is fully visible;
  • when fishing for catfish, it is recommended to use several hearts on one hook;
  • In cooler weather, white meat chicken is less effective.

Suitable tackle

Given the size and strength of this fish, the rod must be appropriate. Not all forms are able to withstand the jerks of a 10-kilogram catfish or more. Mainly feeder and spinning rods are used.

Feeders are usually used in the extra-heavy class, with a dough weight of more than 150 grams. The length of the form is selected according to the characteristics of the fishing location. For small rivers, in places where there is no need for long casts, a 3-meter fishing rod is quite enough. Where holes and debris of snags are located at a considerable distance from the coastline, longer models are more appropriate - 3.9 or 4.2 meters. In the case of catching trophy catfish, a medium or slow action is preferable, since such rods are able to dampen the jerks of large fish due to the work of the blank itself.

Spinning rods are also often used as donks. Despite the short length of most of these rods, they are quite convenient when fishing and are well suited for catching catfish in places where the casting distance of the bait is not critical. The test of such a spinning rod must be at least 80 grams, and the form itself must have a significant margin of safety. The build, just as in the case of the feeder, is preferable to medium or slow. Fast forms, despite accurate casting and other advantages, practically do not dampen the jerks of the fish, which in the case of trophy catfish threatens to break the tackle.

Coils need to be appropriate. For a feeder - no less than 6000 standard size, and it is desirable that the inertia-free feeder be power-driven, with a low gear ratio. With spinning reels the situation is approximately the same: a standard size of at least 4000–5000, a power version and a fairly durable body in the case of catfishing are a necessity. Multiplier reels work well. They have a sufficient margin of safety and also work well with large diameter fishing line.

In places where catfish pits, as well as hunting grounds where the fish go out at night to get food, are located near the shore, many fishermen limit themselves to extremely primitive gear - a zakidushka. The hook itself is a piece of fishing line or cord with a hook and sinker. You won’t be able to fight trophy fish using such gear, but it’s quite suitable for relatively small catfish.

Symptoms of stomach cancer

Experts consider stomach cancer to be one of the most common types of oncology. However, as in previous cases, it is quite difficult to detect its presence. The clinical picture is smoothed out, the pathology is easy to confuse with a common ailment. The first symptoms of stomach cancer do not reveal the pathology until later stages.

The first signs of the disease:

  • Weakness;
  • Decreased performance;
  • Apathy;
  • Lethargy;
  • Prostration;
  • Mild discomfort;
  • Heartburn;
  • Attacks of nausea and vomiting;
  • Belching air;
  • Headache;
  • Heaviness in the abdominal area.

Main symptoms:

  • Sudden and causeless weight loss;
  • Anorexia;
  • Bloating;
  • Bleeding;
  • Nodules;
  • Goiter;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Feeling of quick satiety;
  • Jaundice;
  • Anemia.

Features of the nozzle

Catching catfish with chicken liver may well bring good results, because this fish, in its feeding habits, is closer to scavengers, and does not hesitate to pick up dead animals whose bodies have fallen into the water in one way or another. The liver, although it does not attract fish with active movements, as happens with crawlers, frogs or leeches, the main attracting factor here is the smell. At the same time, many fishermen note that catfish can gather for this scent from a fairly large distance. There are also those who believe that if the liver begins to deteriorate, then this is not only not terrible, but even good - the rotten smell of the lungs in some reservoirs attracts catfish even better than fresh liver.

The ability of the liver odor to attract catfish is especially pronounced in bodies of water with at least a slight current. Under such conditions, the aroma spreads quite far.

Fishing for chicken liver

Fishing for chicken liver . Fresh chicken liver is an excellent bait for a large number of fish, both peaceful and predatory. There is an opinion that it is better to use chicken liver for catching fish rather than beef liver or anything else. Maybe at certain moments this will help. But it seems to me that this is not what plays the main role in this situation.

What animal is this universal bait obtained from (meaning liver). And then in what form you offered it to the fish. Another important factor is that the liver must be fresh, which will provide a good blood trail when it gets into the reservoir. When a fresh liver enters water, it begins to secrete so-called “juices” (blood residues), which in itself is a strong attractant.

This aroma spreads very quickly and over a considerable distance, so you shouldn’t be surprised when a bite occurs immediately after casting. All this is good, but this wonderful bait has one big drawback. Since the flesh of the liver is very tender, it holds very poorly on the hook. And with the most careful bite, the fish easily knocks it off the hook. There are several tips on how to deal with this. But the fact is that they do not help in all cases.

Piece of liver on a hook

Advice one

You need to cut a small piece from women's nylon stockings, make it like a bag and put the liver pulp there, tie it with a thread on top. This bait can be used on a hairline or carp rig or hooked directly onto a hook (see picture) and there is absolutely no risk that small fish will knock the bait off. You can see the advantages of this method: the bait sits firmly on the hook or on the hair and small fish will not eat your bait. The downside is that your bait becomes bulky and you can only catch large fish with it, with the exception of predators.

Tip two

You need to tie the liver pulp to a hook with thread. Pros - the volume is much reduced and you can catch almost any fish. Cons - if you've done it at least once. Then you know how much you need to suffer before you get a more or less reliable attachment of the bait. And if the bite is intense. Just imagine, you spend 2-4 minutes tying the bait to the hook. And as soon as you cast, you immediately catch fish and then do it all over again. In general, I was missing for a long time. And since I didn’t want to part with such a wonderful bait, I came up with this little thing.

Tip three

Surely many fishermen are familiar with this thing for attaching rubber rings to pelets. That day there was a good bite on the liver (I fished on the Kuban River). But I was tired of tying a liver to a hook and there were a lot of things to do. Therefore, I decided to fish with pelets, especially since the carp had already started moving. When I was putting a rubber ring on the pelets, then it dawned on me.

A piece of liver with a ring made of a silicone tube
Why don’t I use a small piece of liver instead of pelets. And when I did it, it turned out just fine. After you have placed a rubber ring on the strip or square of the liver. Then you just put it on as if you were putting an elastic band on a hook. And you don’t waste time on tying and the pieces of liver come out much smaller and sit on the hook relatively securely.

In general, a solution was found. And I’ll say more, you can attach other baits to the hook in this way. Cut the liver in advance while it is frozen and the diameter of the strips or cubes should not exceed 5 mm. Try to keep your bait neat and without pieces of liver sticking out, thereby reducing the number of empty bites. I cut rubber rings from a silicone nipple.

Catfish baits

The most, because this fish is active at night. In spring, catfish most often spend time in places that are well warmed up by the sun's rays.

In these places it is caught well on all animal baits. Catfish love baits that smell like feathers, felt or burnt wool.

The choice of food for this giant is primarily based on smell, so the use of odorous baits can play an important role in increasing fishing efficiency.

Catfish loves chicken meat fried over an open fire, and especially loves fresh chicken liver, which it can bite on even during the daytime. Since catfish is a bottom-dwelling fish, experienced fishermen usually catch it on the liver from the bottom.

Catfish are essentially one of the more impressive and powerful carnivorous fish living in the freshwater bodies of Europe. This giant loves to feast on frogs and crayfish , various waterfowl, fish and food waste.

But this popular rumor of a different diet pales in comparison to the variety of baits that are used when fishing for catfish.

Among them, the most attractive for this purpose of a large predator is chicken liver. Fishing for catfish using the liver is a favorite technique of the most experienced fishermen.

In many places it is excellently caught, so all that remains for our client is to make animal baits. Catfish loves bait that smells like feathers, felt or burnt wool.

The choice of food for this purpose of the giant occurs first through instinct, therefore the introduction of scented baits can play an important role in increasing the efficiency of fishing.

When does a chub bite on the liver?

Raw chicken liver can be successfully used in spring and autumn chub fishing. But in the hot summer time, the diet of chubs contains many other food options: from flying insects to fry and frogs - so fishing with the liver is less effective at this time. Only when the water is cool does the chub take excellent bait on chicken liver.

However, the chub bites quite well on the liver during the summer cold snap, when the air temperature drops to 14-17 degrees.

How to catch chub with liver

When fishing for chub, a rod up to 3 meters long is used. A section of the river with a fast current and whirlpools is selected. The rig is thrown downstream. We fish with one fishing rod, as we often have to change our fishing spot. Fishing for the liver of a chub does not require the fisherman to stay in one place. This is mobile fishing. It is better to hold the fishing rod in your hands, as its bites are very greedy and often the rod can end up in the water without supervision. What equipment is suitable for chub fishing? Most often, a fishing line with a thickness of 0.3 mm is used, on which a sliding weight runs. A leash with a diameter of 0.25 with a hook on a long fore-end No. 6-8 is attached to the end. If it is a tee, then No. 8, and if it is a single, then No. 6.

How to attach a liver for catching catfish

The method of fixing the chicken liver on the hook depends on the type of hook used. It is best to place frozen livers on tees, stringing a selected piece of product onto each tip in layers. In this form, the nozzle will remain in the water for at least two hours, after which it needs to be replaced.

Using single and double hooks, fishermen resort to tricks that make the bait more reliable in terms of its density. To do this, the frozen product is tightly stuffed into a nylon stocking, after which it becomes much easier to place the liver on the tip of the sting. In addition to direct fitting, they use tying to a hook and fastening with rubber bands tied into a ring and, with their compression force, tightly pressing the nylon sausage to the fore-end. The nylon stocking does not reduce the effectiveness of the bait, since the trail of flavoring aromas continues to spread freely throughout the reservoir through the mesh of the material.

Another fastening method is based on mixing offal with flour. In this case, the crumpled livers are mixed with regular flour, obtaining plastic pellets, which are mounted on hooks.
