Review of my first Rapala wobblers

More than 80 years have passed since Finnish angler Lauri Rapala cut his first wobbler from a bottle cap, candy foil and photographic film. The company he organized together with his sons after the end of the war became one of the world's leading manufacturers of fishing accessories.

Despite the large range of products, the main direction of production is Rapala wobblers, supplied by the Finnish company to almost one and a half hundred countries around the world, including Russia, Ukraine and other countries of the post-Soviet space. To make it easier for our readers to understand the various models, we present an overview of the company’s most popular artificial fish.

The famous Lauri Rapala at work

Minnow

Let's start looking at Rapala wobblers with the most popular in body shape - driven minnows. These baits resemble long, narrow-bodied fish in appearance: gudgeon, minnow, bleak, and others, which are the main food items of carnivorous representatives of the ichthyofauna.

This form of bait is best suited for catching most types of fish. Minnows are used for pike perch, pike, perch, asp, chub and other predators.

1. Wobbler Rapala X Rap is a typical representative of a minnow. Works on almost any predator: from perch to salmon. This is a suspender with an immersion depth of up to one and a half meters. At the same time, the X Rap 10 model is capable of diving even deeper: up to 180 centimeters.

X Rap has a tassel of feathers on his tail.

2.Clackin Minnow – another Rapala minnow with a tassel on the tail. Unlike the previous wobbler, this is a slowly sinking model with a working horizon depth of 0.6 to 1.5 meters.

3.Countdown Magnum is considered the best classic bait for deep-sea fishing, working in the horizon from 2.7 to 6.3 meters. Magnums are used both in fresh water and in sea fishing. Wobblers are produced in three colors and five sizes.

4.X-Rap Magnum is another line of deep-sea wobblers. Representatives of this series are capable of diving to 12 meters, this is facilitated by the large blade on the nose of the bait. The model range consists of five standard sizes, available in 15 color options.

5.Barra Magnum is another wobbler from the magnum company, this time intended for sea fishing. Capable of working at depths of over five meters, this minnow is used to catch sea predators such as barracuda, tarp, and tuna. By the way, the bait is made from abashi wood, which in terms of specific gravity is heavier than the balsa usual for the Rapala company.

6. Wobbler Trolls To Minnow is designed specifically for trolling fishing. Slightly flattened on the sides, this minnow ensures stable play at a given fishing depth: from three to six meters, depending on the specific model. A noise chamber built into the body of the bait is capable of collecting predators from a wide area.

Game of spinners

Rapala Minnow Spoon features a bright, sweeping game of its own. It catches well on a uniform retrieve, retrieve with pauses is also applicable, and during pauses it opens up in its own way. Unlike other spinners, in which the weight is more or less distributed throughout the entire length of the body, the Rapala Minnow Spoon has a load concentrated in the head part. Thanks to this design, when falling, its game is more reminiscent of the game of a jig bait.

As it falls, it rushes with its head, wagging its body along the way. Accordingly, if there is still silicone, then it is included in the work. Therefore, it is precisely on the fall, especially when touching the bottom, where this is possible, that the spinner is most effective. Especially for pike. Quite a good percentage of serifs.

Scope of application: shallow bays, bays and various dumps along the coastline with relatively shallow depths.

Cranks

No less catchy lures of the Rapala company are cranks - the so-called short-bodied wobblers with an original lateral action, most of them realistically roll from side to side, reminding a predator of a sick and weakened prey.

Reference! Cranks, in turn, are divided into three large groups: flats, shads and fats.

1.Deep Tail Dancer is one of several lines of so-called “dancers” from the Rapala company. This is a floating deep-sea crank, which, when stopped during retrieval, begins to rise from the depths, causing the effect of escaping prey.

The deep sea dancer is distinguished by its huge blade.

2.Shallow Tail Dancer – this Tail Dancer is distinguished by its original banana-shaped shape and the most powerful tail movement, creating especially attractive vibrations for the predator.

3.Shad Rap 7 and Shad Rap 9 are the most typical lures of their type produced by the Finnish company. These wobblers, shaped like tadpoles, are among the best in terms of catchability. Shad-type lures are produced in four sizes and twenty color options.

4.The flat profile of the Rapala DT Flat crank allows it to perform transverse oscillations at a constant frequency, regardless of changing speed and changing style of wiring. Realistic eyes and a noise chamber that transmits low-frequency sound underwater add to the attractiveness of the predator's bait. A flat can dive from 30 centimeters to 2.7 meters.

5. The fat Rapala DT crankbait, reminiscent of a tadpole, is considered one of the longest-range crankbaits. At the same time, its fishing horizon reaches five meters, which allows it to be used against deep-sea predators: trophy pike, pike perch, catfish.

The large blade allows the “tadpole” to dive quite deep.

6.The Rapala Team Esko wobbler is named after Lauri Esko’s son. This crank features an original stepped blade, which gives the bait a special vibration that is most popular among salmon predators, in particular trout. The operating horizon of this bait is from 120 to 180 centimeters. This crank works both in still water and in currents.

7.Mini Fat Rap – another fat one from Rapala, this time it’s an ultra-light wobbler for catching a cautious predator in a current with a working horizon depth of up to two meters. Working steadily on the stream, the miniature fat fish perfectly catches both traditional pike and perch, and white predators: chub, ide, asp.

8.Rapala DT Sure Set – noise crank with noticeable vibration amplitude. The flat body and wide blade of the wobbler allow it to work with a depth of up to six meters.

These blades allow you to dive especially deep.

Catching wobblers for perch

We determine the best and catchiest wobblers for perch on a spinning rod.

Jackall Chubby

A bait from a well-known world manufacturer with a realistic texture and original colors. The best conditions for fishing with this bait are a stormy river with riffles and whirlpools, but in still water it is much less effective.

Yo-Zuri L-Minnow 44S

The best perch wobbler for long-distance fishing, both from a boat and from the shore. Intense play attracts predators from different depths and even from the bottom.

STRIKE PRO EG-074 SP Midge 40

A bait of neutral buoyancy, for catching river striped predator, with low weight and excellent balancing. This is a wobbler not for long-distance casting, but for short-range fishing with a depth of up to half a meter.

Kosadaka Cord-R 70F

Minnow wobbler, the body of which consists of two parts. An excellent bait for river predators that make sharp jerks when retrieving. Attracts trophies even from a long distance and does not give them time to examine their target, immediately provoking them to bite.

Megabass Baby Griffon

An expensive wobbler-type bait for perch, but it is 100% worth its price. Used for fishing in still water and small currents.

It features original wiring, swaying movements and acoustic accompaniment. There is a water intake groove on the belly of the bait, which provides a sound effect and an original game.

Rapala X-Rap

It is unlikely that any of the ratings of wobblers for predators can do without the products of the famous Finnish company, and ours is no exception. This bait is considered one of the most popular for low-active perch in still waters.

The small size of such a wobbler for perch does not prevent it from flying far enough when cast and attracting fish from long distances. And the recess on the body and the floating balancer help in this.

A relative disadvantage can be considered the fairly high cost of the bait, but again, a quality product simply cannot be cheap.

Pontoon21 Cheerful

Despite the fact that the manufacturer is a Chinese company, this wobbler is really of very high quality and has proven its effectiveness. In particular, this applies to catching large trophies and bass that live at great depths.

Helps you catch perch in rivers with strong currents and in still water, and shows high performance thanks to its original game.

Zip Baits Khamsin 70 SP

A popular bait for large bass that looks like a small crucian carp. It has good flight characteristics and excellent balancing. Good for fishing in still water over long distances.

Salmo Hornet H4F

Mini wobblers for perch, for fishing in rivers with gentle currents. They provide wiring typical of a lazy fish who forgot to be careful.

Megabass Vision 95

Large bait for large perch. It works even at great depths, provoking bass to leave the holes and bite brightly. It is better to use when fishing on rivers with a current or on stagnant bodies of water, when fishing at a long distance.

Composite wobblers

A special type of bait from the Finnish company consists of joints, wobblers, in which the front and rear parts are articulated using a simple hinge, most often a pair of throughput rings.

1.X-Rap Walk is a surface floating wobbler. With a length of 13 centimeters, its own weight is 35 grams, which requires the use of a heavy-class medium spinning rod to use it. The wobbler is equipped with tees protected from corrosion in salt water, which allows it to be used not only for pike and perch in fresh water, but also for fishing in sea water. The raptor attracts the attention of predators not only with its special body shape, but also with its bright tail.

2. The Rapala Jointed is a copy of the “Original” wobbler with the difference that its front and rear parts are connected by a movable hinge, and do not represent one whole. This property added mobility to the bait, and, consequently, attractiveness in the eyes of a predator.

The joint is provided with a pair of rings.

Review of the wobbler Rapala X Rap XR 6, 8 and 10. Reviews of anglers about the wobbler Rapala X Rap

The Rapala X-Rap wobbler is considered a living legend from Finland, which has gone down in history as the best-selling model in the world. Thanks to the release of this series of lures, Rapala has moved to a new level, which was previously only available to Japanese manufacturers. This model, although it is distinguished by a combination of many traditional Rapala qualities, is manufactured using the latest trends and technologies in wobbler construction. The highest quality is embodied in the Rapala X-Rap wobbler, from the nose to the tip of its tail.

A lot of new things were added to it: a noise chamber, coloring, as well as a neutral buoyancy design. It was specially designed to make incredibly long casts, thanks to its excellent aerodynamic shape and special internal MaxCast mechanism. The model features all the latest advancements, including VMC Spark Point hooks, laser-etched scales, and other high-quality features.

This Rapala X-Rap wobbler stands out from a number of other Rapala models due to the special material it is made of, which is a fairly dense plastic that is resistant to the teeth of any predators. When you see this bait, what catches your eye is the standard body shape of a minnow without a pronounced back and belly - we can say that this is the ideal image of a minnow. The movements of the Rapala X-Rap wobbler are made more natural by the feather fly, which is attached to the rear tee. And light reflections on the water are created using a holographic plate located inside the body itself.

The Rapala X-Rap wobbler stands out not only for its ability to make long casts, but also for its rumble. It is suitable “for different occasions”: it can quickly turn and sharply change the direction of its movement, and also attract attention with vibration and shine, which from afar arouses incredible interest in any fish. Its use is effective during search casts or in tough fights with strong predators.

In the aquatic environment, this bait behaves quite standardly: very free, yawing movements of an equidirectional nature. In addition, the Rapala X-Rap wobbler is easy to control and simply has an innate low resistance in water, which is made possible due to its very simple body shape. With jerky animation, the Rapala X-Rap wobbler begins to play sharply, aggressively and very naturally: first it rushes from one side to the other, and then after stopping it can hang in one place. When fishing like this, you should not forget to loosen the line immediately after the jerk, which will allow it to turn around even more and lie slightly on its side. Also, it is characterized by its neutral buoyancy, and its diving depth can reach 1.5-1.8 m.

All versions of the Rapala X-Rap wobbler are designed for pike fishing - this fact confirms the opinion of most anglers. It is worth noting that the best technique for presenting bait to pike is a stop-and-go style retrieve. It is carried out in the form of short windings of the fishing line along with alternating pauses.

Among some fishermen there is often an opinion that these Rapala X-Rap wobblers are designed for almost any weather and any season - for this you just need to choose a certain color that will match the visibility in the water. But still, the most suitable season for using these baits is considered to be the autumn period, when they show their catchability to the greatest extent. In the spring and summer they will also work well, but a little less efficiently.

The Rapala X-Rap wobbler performs well both when catching particularly active fish and often helps out when biting passively. Sometimes it’s enough just to noisily throw it into the water and the pike immediately comes out to attack. Very often this bait performs well precisely where other minnows are not effective. There are several options for releasing bait. Every lover of perch and pike fishing simply must have this model in their arsenal.

The Finnish wobbler Rapala X-Rap is very popular among fishermen who catch pike, perhaps as well known as the Japanese wobbler Jackall Chibby 38 among chubs. Finland is a country of lakes and is famous for its abundance of large pike, so it is not surprising that Rapala specializes in pike wobblers. X-Rap wobblers are available in sizes 4, 6, 8 and 10 millimeters and have weights of 2, 4, 7 and 13 grams. I previously successfully caught pike with 8 and 10 cm wobblers, but I only purchased the Rapala X-Rap XR06 wobbler this spring and planned to use it primarily for catching perch.

The length of the Rapala X-Rap XR06 wobbler is 6 centimeters, weight – 4 grams, depth 0.9-1.5 meters. The wobbler has neutral buoyancy (suspender).

I “bite” on this bait primarily because the larger models were catchy for pike; the perch often accompanied them to the shore and did not always dare to attack. We needed the same wobbler, but smaller. The choice of bait was influenced by the fact that the wobbler has a fairly large depth and at the same time is a suspender, and in its shape it belongs to the minnow class. This is exactly what attracts fish when fishing in cold water. From a large assortment of colors I chose a wobbler in color S.

The second part of the summer was devoted to active fishing for “white” fish on shallow coastal riffles. I mainly caught chub and asp. Towards the end of summer, when the fish became more capricious, I began to think that it was approaching autumn and that I would soon need to switch to baits with greater depth. On this shallow rift, I somehow didn’t think to test the new X-Rap XE06 wobbler and went to a high toe, which was formed after a landslide of a steep bank and jutted out a little into the river, forming a rip current.

In the fall, pike, perch and zander were often caught in this deep place. I tried various surface and deep-sea baits. Everything turned out to be in vain. I was about to return to my previous fishing spot and suddenly not strong, but sharp splashes began to be heard on the surface of the stream. Based on the nature of the splashes, I decided that it was an asp. I tried many asp baits, but failed to catch a fish.

Perch baits also did not bring positive results. The Rapala X-Rap XR06 wobbler also refused to catch. In such situations, you always want to know who is leading you by the nose. For myself, I was sure that it was an asp, but I had no evidence. The fish splashed downstream from me, stood at the surface of the water with its head in my direction and in calm weather saw me very clearly on the hillock. That's why it was difficult to catch her. Definitely an asp! In such cases, you need to change your detected position. I defiantly and noisily left the steep toe, moved downstream along the steep slope behind the bushes, quickly had a snack myself and gave the fish a little time to calm down.

After that, I began to move along the shore towards the cape and cast upstream. A fish in the current stands with its head against the current, that is, with its tail towards me, and therefore does not see me. Moreover, I was not on a hillock, but was moving carefully at the very edge of the water. This is not the first time I have deceived a cautious asp in this way. And this time the fish turned out to be a medium-sized asp. The first fish caught on the Rapala X-Rap XR06 wobbler was a sturgeon, which made me very happy.

I managed to catch the wobbler and understand who had been leading me by the nose for so long. The cast was against the current. The wiring consisted of a series of short and sharp jerks followed by a short pause. It was on this that the asp decided to attack. The blow was sharp, I expected to see a larger fish, but I was pleased with this one too.

Although the wobbler weighs only 4 grams, it flies very well, simply beautiful. The body of the bait contains a MaxCast mechanism, which is designed for casting distance. The pointed tail cuts the air like a bullet, which contributes to the flight range. The wobbler overcomes headwinds well, does not spin in flight, and flies in a stable position. The wobbler has a quiet “rattle” that helps attract fish and at the same time does not alarm it.

The back hook, depending on the color of the wobbler, is equipped with colored feathers of different colors (with lurex). My wobbler has red feathers.

The fly on the hook behaves very interestingly when the bait moves. The fly gives the wobbler more naturalness and is an additional irritant for the fish. The wobbler resembles the movement of a living fry. The hooks themselves are black, sharp and very catchy. The blade of the wobbler is set at approximately 30 degrees from the axis of the bait, so the wobbler is able to dive quite deeply and, thanks to its neutral buoyancy, hover at a given depth, which has a positive effect on passive fish, especially in the fall.

The wobbler behaves very interestingly and variedly on different wiring. During a uniform retrieve, the wobbler has its own game. Due to the low tenacity of the bait, when jerking it makes quite long swims, and when stopping it deviates slightly to the sides. With a series of aggressive jerks, the wobbler aggressively rushes around and creates turmoil around itself, reminiscent of a frightened and confused fry. If you move the tip of the spinning rod back before stopping in motion, the turn of the wobbler will increase. It was with this kind of wiring that my first asp was caught.

The wobbler is not very stubborn; it allows you to animate it at the request of the fisherman. The wobbler is easy to control - a real toy.

The small size of the X-Rap XR06 wobbler is very suitable for perch. The aggressive movement of the bait clearly excited him and pushed him to attack. The perch attacked both when the wobbler stopped and during a series of short jerks. The unsuccessful attack did not stop him. The bass continued to attack again and again until it was hooked.

The body of the wobbler is made of durable material that perfectly withstands pike teeth. Inside the wobbler there is a holographic plate that produces glare. Laser processing highlights the scales of the bait well, making it resemble a real fry. When the wobbler is tilted, the bait changes color. The bait uses many new trends in wobbler construction, which is why the bait is in high demand among fishermen. The fish are also interested in catchable bait.

Since the manufacturer manufactures wobblers with pike fishing in mind, it recommends uniform retrieving with stops. For autumn fishing, stops may be longer. Neutral buoyancy helps an inhibited predator decide to attack. A tossing bait with aggressive twitching and subsequent stops has a positive effect more on an active predator, but a wobbler is capable of catching passive fish as well. The wobbler performs best in cold autumn water.

Despite the fact that the wobbler is declared by the manufacturer as a pike, in several short fishing trips not a single pike was caught with it, but perches were caught regularly. Actually, I bought this small wobbler for perches.

Now we can only look forward to the next fishing season to catch pike. For “complete happiness” and a complete set, I want to buy a Rapala X-Rap XR04 wobbler and try it for “white” fish. The wobbler’s edge on the hook “wiggles” in a very inviting way, and the wobbler itself rushes around. I hope that the asp will appreciate it, as he already appreciated the 6 cm wobbler. And it’s okay that X-Rap wobblers are classified as pike baits. And next year I will try to catch white fish with it too!

I bought a couple of pieces in Noginsk. Color CLN ten and SB eight. Wobblers are not a bomb. I didn't catch the eight. Ten were marked by pike, and in a complete lack of bite, in the most disgusting weather. I had free time, I spent 5 hours killing my legs on the Klyazma, on the river of other spinners, and in general I didn’t notice any fishermen). A 500 gram pike was hit by X-Rap on the ribs. As Ostap Bender said, “Low grade, unclean work.” In Karelia, for perch, wobblers also did not show themselves, although they landed very well on the well-known Russian brand.

The wobbler game is “four”, solid. There was a flaw in the manufacturing, I found it on a dozen houses, upon closer examination. The hooks are terrible, one hook of the tail tee (which has an edge) had no point at all, a round, melted tip... I finished it with a file... Today a dozen remained in the river, on a normal piece of snag. Will I make up for the loss? It’s more likely no than yes.

Rapala X-Rap XR10 is an excellent wobbler. The first pike on wobblers is on it (size 10, color as in the picture) and immediately weighs 2.5 kg. Then the perch took and seduced a pike of 3.5 kg. Posting stop and go.

This is exactly the wiring I used, because the depth was a meter, and with normal twitch the X-RAP dives below 1 meter. I bought another one in an acid color. I will definitely buy it in size 8, but I haven’t found anything in stores yet...

Hi all. I would like to now step back from the topic of jigs and talk a little about how I got acquainted with wobblers, namely which one I started with. For a long time I did not dare to fish with wobblers; jigs and oscillating spoons were my main method of fishing. I also thought so, instead of one wobbler, you can buy a bunch of silicone and fish calmly, without being afraid of hooks and breaks. But over time, I began to pay more and more attention to places with vegetation on the bottom. There was a desire to develop, I began to think more and more about buying wobblers for pike fishing.

First, I came to the store and started looking at a large number of wobblers, and as a beginner in this business, my eyes widened. On display there were more than 300 wobblers from different companies, different shapes, different colors. I didn’t know what to take and didn’t even have an idea about how to choose a wobbler for the right conditions. Of course, now I already remember this moment with irony and understanding that I had to go through this. The seller asked me a question: “What interests me.” I explained to him that I wanted to try fishing with a wobbler and I needed a couple of inexpensive wobblers. To which he told me, so to speak, that many of the stores are considered illiquid.

He sold me a Chinese wobbler WINER, and a couple more of unknown names. I flew home headlong, grabbed a spinning rod and rushed to the river to look for pike. Accordingly, the first couple of fishing trips upset me and made me understand that the money was wasted. I first needed to talk to friends more experienced than me and learn more about wobbler fishing. This was my first mistake when getting acquainted with this type of bait as a wobbler.

Next, I began to ask questions, to which I was happily answered without any hesitation or hesitation. Vadim, during a joint jig fishing trip, gave me a whole lecture on the topic “Twitching” within a couple of hours. Of course, at first I didn’t take most of the information for granted, but then in practice everything that was told to me turned out to really work.

I took my first wobblers and started trying to catch and at the same time adapt to twitching. For me it was not entirely clear: when you pull the spinning rod, the wobbler goes almost to the very top, and even floats up when I pause. How can a pike react to this in general? But I decided not to give up on this matter and still achieve results. And after a couple of hours I succeeded. I caught the first pike with the 80th floating wobbler.

My joy knew no bounds, I began to recognize other wobblers, read athletes’ reports, watch videos; at that time, videos of the Sherbakov brothers and Konstantin Kuzmin were very popular. And in one of the videos I came across such a wobbler as the Rapala X-RAP 100SP. I didn’t buy anything in online stores then, the principle was to first twirl it in your hands, touch it, and then decide whether to take it or not.

In one of the local stores I came across a wobbler and bought it in two colors - blue with a light belly and dark green with stripes like a perch. I was initially afraid to throw them into the water, so as not to tear them off right away. But the grass was rising, the beach season had already begun, in general, so far it was just right for a wobbler. I removed everything from my backpack, left only one box and went to the river.

Upon arrival at the reservoir, I made my second mistake. I cut the flies off the rear tee, finding it unnecessary as I didn't like them. And he started catching. From the very first minutes of fishing I got my first pike. And this day would be a sensation for me. I couldn’t even imagine that you could catch so many pike with one wobbler. But at the end of the season they were both successfully left in the snags.

One of my friends saw these wobblers and began to explain to me that they were actually fake, and he was right. As it turned out, the craft was sold at the price of the original. An inexperienced fisherman who does not know the difference will not even be able to understand that this is a craft. In the period before 2010, this was common in small shops.

The fakes had a number of differences from the original. The first was the eyes of the bait - they were either red or yellow. Further, on some of the fakes, the front sights on the rear tee were missing. Well, the mismatch of the color palette. Later, when fishing, it became clear that this was a fake - due to the lack of a long-distance casting system. The wobbler spun in different directions while flying.

But in my case he caught well anyway.

Years have passed. I got deeper and deeper into fishing, I already had an understanding of baits and the tactics of using them, and I could already clearly distinguish the original from the copy. I again accidentally saw the Rapala X-RAP 100SP. There was no longer any doubt - take it. Lure color SB. Here I didn’t correct anything in it, I was 100% sure - this is the original.

ADVANTAGES: High-quality durable plastic, bright provocative color, balls inside the wobbler, it flies far!

DISADVANTAGES: I personally did not find any! Hello, dear fishermen!!!

I started fishing with wobblers 6-7 years ago and I really liked it! Wobblers are specific baits; you need to practice a lot with them in order to get good at catching, understand their game, all the nuances and work out the wiring methods.

The Rapala X-RAP wobbler is sold in this cardboard package with a plastic lid. Look at the photo below. All photos in the review were taken using a wonderful SONY camera.

The wobbler is 10 cm long and weighs 13 grams.

The Rapala X-RAP wobbler belongs to the minnow class in body shape and has a bright, provocative color. Its back is black, and its belly is silver, but when light hits its belly, it shimmers with different colors of the rainbow. Look at the two photos below.

In the photo, the wobbler was photographed without a flash and its belly looks natural silver in color.

In the photo below, the wobbler was photographed using a flash and its color immediately changes, as when bright light hits it, it begins to shimmer with the colors of the rainbow.

The wobbler is made of high-quality durable plastic that is not afraid of sharp pike teeth. Inside the wobbler there are metal balls that create a specific sound and vibration, this lures the fish and makes them interested and aggressive. Also, when casting, the balls roll into the tail of the wobbler, which significantly increases the casting range.

The wobbler has a beautiful fly on the rear tail tee, which decorates it, stabilizes its play, makes it more noticeable and provokes an attack from a predator.

The wobbler, in theory, should have neutral buoyancy, that is, it should be a suspender. But initially, after purchasing it and testing it in the bathroom, it turns out to have slightly positive buoyancy, i.e. it floated slowly.

To bring the Rapala X-Rap XR10 wobbler to perfection, I experimented with it for a long time. First, I attached a winding ring to the loop of the wobbler, to which I attached a thin wire leash and fastened a carabiner with a swivel to it.

Thus, I fully equipped the wobbler and protected the line from being bitten by the leash. But as a result of this, the wobbler turned out to sink relatively quickly.

Therefore, I slightly reduced the length of the leash and installed a smaller carabiner. It turned out that the wobbler became very slowly sinking, almost imperceptible to the eye. So we can say that I managed to create a suspender from it.

The wobbler has a small blade so it goes shallow, about 0.8 - 1 meter.

The wobbler plays well on a uniform retrieve, simulating a sluggish fish, you can make small pauses and then the wobbler hangs in the water column at the depth to which you buried it.

But the best results are brought by twitching - a type of wiring that involves jerking the rod and pauses that follow each other. That is, with a spinning rod we make a jerk and wait a short pause, while we reel out the resulting slack on the fishing line using a reel, then make a jerk again and pause again.

The strength of the jerks, their amplitude and pause time are chosen by each angler at his own discretion. To fish with this wobbler, I used a Surf Master spinning rod!

I believe that you should make different pulls with the rod each time - up, down, left, right and with different amplitude and frequency. Because all these different manipulations greatly diversify the game of the bait, making it more “alive”.

By the way, the Rapala X-RAP Wobbler, when twitched, more naturally imitates a live, sick fish than when deployed evenly.

The wobbler is wonderful, I really liked it, I recommend everyone to try fishing with wobblers. This is much more interesting than fishing with other types of bait. After all, to learn how to fish with wobblers you need to spend more than a year, because all wobblers have different sizes, designs, and game. For each wobbler model, you need to select the optimal wiring, spinning rod, and fishing line.

Hello everyone, in my collection of wobblers I also have this Rapala wobbler, and more than one (of different sizes), these lures are manufactured by a Finnish company. The bait is good for its flight qualities, casting accuracy, and good noise qualities. It attracts fish with its shine and vibration, has a varied game with different retrieves, with jerking retrieves it has a sweeping game, when fishing in the current with a retrieve with stops it sways a little, which attracts pike.

The length of these wobblers (for me) is from nine to fourteen centimeters. The depths of these baits vary from ninety centimeters to two meters and forty centimeters; these wobblers have different colors and colors. Basically, pike take on the eight and ten, and there is enough perch without any problems, the main thing is to choose the right colors for the weather, and the wiring (best is a twitch with a pause). I would rate this wobbler a solid five. I recommend this wobbler to you, you won’t be left without fish, the wobbler is a little expensive, the cost of this bait is from seven hundred to a thousand rubles, but it’s worth it, buy it, experiment, no tail or scales for everyone.

I have several wobblers of different sizes, depths and colors. I bought these wobblers based on rave reviews on the Internet on forums, but in 2 years they didn’t catch anything special. I caught it the other day, it turned out it was all a matter of the rod, and of course, experience, since I started mastering twitch wiring last season, and the poles were sharpened for a different type, it was possible to carry out a sloppy or simply uniform wiring, due to inappropriate length or too lousy rod structure.

But having bought a Black Hole Bass mania rod 198 cm 4-14 gr. I caught an X-rap under twitch on my first fishing trip, the retrieve was light twitch, I threw it a couple of times and tugged gently, a short pause and again, usually in the first jerks there’s a bite, perch and pike just go crazy with it.

We managed to pull the fish out of a window in the grass 2-3 meters long. Caught white wobbler, 6 cm long, Rapala X-Rap XR 6, with a small blade, depth up to 0.8 meters.

As soon as I catch the rest, I’ll add them. There is one small drawback: the hooks do not catch fish well, with more than 50 percent of the fish gathering, mostly near the boat, but I am not going to change the hooks, I think the fish should be given a chance, and I release most of the fish, only taking large ones.

In my arsenal there is such a model in size XR-06, the color of an ordinary small fish (S). The name of the founder of this company speaks for this wobbler. Classic with a modern twist. Nothing superfluous - no intricate curved lines, no mysterious “eyes of rising light”.

Rapala X-Rap XR 06 is a wonderful bait in cold water when the predator is not very active. Yes, you can’t throw a baby far, but it’s also a sin to demand from him beyond his flight qualities... For my weight, I would rate the casting range as 4+ (if not against the wind)

Having its own style on uniform wiring, it “plays” wonderfully on twitching wiring. However, I do not recommend using aggressive wiring, because we are talking about cold water!

I use various soft wiring options. The main thing is that there are pauses of 3-5 seconds, depending on the conditions. Regarding the use of a leash (the eternal question of whether to ask or not) - decide for yourself, but do not forget that this is suspending and the fishing conditions are late autumn and cold water, and therefore the predator is little active and terribly lazy.

How to knit a Rapala loop knot

In addition to the listed mines and cranks, there are Rapala lines for other types of wobblers. Here are examples of the most popular models: 1. The Skitter Pop popper has such an original recess in the front part that it can not only make a squelching sound, but also spray water. This almost exactly imitates a frightened fry running away at the sight of a predator.

2.Skitter Walk is also a surface bait, but of a different type - it is a walker, which has neither a blade nor a notch. It becomes attractive with a special harness, which in spinning slang is called a “dog on a leash.” With this animation, the bait moves from side to side, causing splashes and squelching no worse than a classic popper.

This is what a classic wolfer looks like.

3.The Rattlin Minnow Spoon does not have a spade and is equipped with a built-in single horizontal hook instead of the usual pair of tees. This allows the bait to be used in difficult conditions. The wobbler goes well among thickets of grass and simple snags.

4.Weedless Shad is another non-snagging, sinking Rapala model. The body, made in the form of a classic shad, has a blade bent downward in the tail section. This design solution makes it possible to produce low-frequency vibrations that are attractive to predators.

5.Rattlin Rapala – bladeless wobbler with a ring for fastening located on the back. This property allows the bait to be used both in summer and winter fishing. Four rattlin sizes have three color schemes. The special shape of the bait and the built-in noise chamber provide a combination of low sound and vibration frequency.

6.Glidin`Rap is also a bladeless wobbler, belonging to the class of jerkbaits. Heavy at 72 grams and 15 centimeters long, the bait is designed for hunting trophy pike, pike perch and humpback perch. Made from abashi wood, the jerk is a sinking bait with a working horizon of sixty centimeters to one and a half meters.

Spinner design

The main difference from other spinners is the material used to make the body. In the case of the Rapala Minnow Spoon, it is a shockproof plastic that resists pike teeth quite well. However, of course, it should be taken into account that the durability of the Rapala Minnow Spoon cannot be compared with classic vibrators made of metal. Therefore, in this regard, it makes more sense to compare it with wobblers.

The spoon is built around a single powerful hook of very good quality. Even in a plastic body, you can trace and see the base of the spoon, the hook itself. In the head of the spinner there is a metal weight that gives this spinner its own game. From here comes a metal mustache, which is necessary so that when retrieving the spoon, it does not cling to any underwater obstacles. It could be grass and more serious obstacles, but with more serious obstacles the likelihood of snags is already minimal, but at least this mustache protects against grass just fine.

It should be mentioned that the Rapala Minnow Spoon is available on sale in versions with a tee.

Manufacturing Features

The Rapala company, like no other, is committed to the classic style in the production and use of materials. Of course, wobblers are not made from cork or pine bark; they have been replaced by popular balsa and plastic.

By the way, in terms of the quality of wooden balsa wobblers, the Rapala company, according to most experts, has no equal. But the company’s plastic models are also good. They differ in that the color and holographic design is not applied on top, but is located inside the case. That is, if external damage occurs, there will be no loss in the quality of the bait’s design.

Prizes and awards

The Rapala company is very often recognized as the winner in various categories among wobbler manufacturers. Over the years, first places in the “Best Solid Bait” category were occupied by the following models:

  • Rapala Balsa Xtreme Minnow;
  • Rapala Scatter Rap Shad;
  • Rapala Weedless Shad.

Such high performance was achieved not only due to the high-quality development and manufacture of baits, but also because each model is thoroughly tested in various bodies of water before being released onto the market: both with calm water and in the current.
