Description and review of the best spinning rod models Major Craft

Advantages and disadvantages of Major Craft spinning rods:

  • Very wide range of models
  • High quality products
  • Light weight
  • Excellent ergonomics
  • Practical and durable fittings
  • High cost of rods

The Major Craft series of spinning rods can be divided into:

• Budget ($60-$106): Trapara, Solpara, Slicer, Go.Emotion, Crostage, BassPara.

• Mid-budget ($100-$196): Volkey, Beneyro, Corkish, Dodger, FineTail, Nextino, Restive, Rizer, Skyroad, Speedstyle, Zaltz, Benkei.

• High-budget ($180-$280): Terrier, AIRock.

And we haven’t written all the series) In general, the assortment is simply huge.

But if your budget does not allow you to purchase expensive fishing rods from Major Craft, then a good solution would be to buy a spinning rod in a wholesale online store, where you will find a lot of fishing equipment and gear at low prices.

It’s cheaper to buy gear through websites, and even cheaper through wholesale websites, so you can buy very profitably.

One such wholesale store is the website - opt-fish.com.ua

Review of Major Craft spinning rods Dodger series, models DGS-702LL and DGC-802MH.

The Dodger range is quite extensive and includes a variety of models, from short light-weight models to long, heavy-dough models. The series has a simple and unobtrusive design, which I really like. All “sticks” are equipped with simple but high-quality cases with two compartments.

This season I had the opportunity to fish with two models from this series: the light spinning rod 702LL and the casting model 802MH.

I'll start with the DGS-702LL .

Classic two-piece spinning rod. The length of the spinning rod is stated as 7 feet, but measuring it with a tape measure showed not the usual 213 cm, but 214.5 cm. The weight of the spinning rod is 99.2 grams. Where the tip weighs 9.9 grams, and the butt weighs 89.3 grams. The test is specified as 1.5-10 grams. Line test up to 8lb. The spinning rod handle is spaced apart. The upper and lower rear grips are made of EVA. Forgrip from cork. Handle length 37cm. From the buttcap to the reel seat 25.7 cm. Reel seat and guides from Fuji. The form has 7 access rings + a tulip, arranged according to the KR Concept principle.

The rod is very forward and has a “live” tip. The middle has medium hardness and comes into play as soon as you start casting harder. When fishing, the upper third and middle work, the butt connects very easily as soon as the fish on the hook turns out to be more serious. Despite the small test of the fishing rod, there is a reserve of power in the butt.

Perch per kilo and asp per 1.5 kilograms. For fishing, the rod worked with all its blanks, the butt damped powerful jerks well.

The rod was used with a Daiwa 12 Luvias 2506 reel and two different lines, Sunline Deep One 8HG #0.6 and Sunline Super PE 8 Braid #0.6.
I won’t write about balance; I never bother with such things. I believe that the reel should be as light as possible, but not at the expense of its size. For this spinning rod, a dive size 2500 reel, in my opinion, fits perfectly, and the low-capacity spool is a nice addition to working with thin cords. The PE#0.6 cord allows you to cover the rod test to the maximum. You can work comfortably in the lower test of the spinning rod, and are not afraid of shooting when using bait in the upper test during power casts. For me, this model was a universal light. I used different baits and had to fish in different conditions. How the fishing rod coped with various tasks will be discussed further. Wobblers. If we talk about wobblers in general, then the upper comfortable limit for casting is 6-7g. I don’t know what this is connected with, but voluminous floating baits (wobblers are one of them) load the blank differently. For example, the Gunfish 75 from Lucky Craft, known for its excellent flight characteristics, I was never able to get it to fly normally and during casting it felt like I was throwing a bait twice as big as the real top test of the fishing rod. On the bottom, the rod works well with wobblers from 2g, such as Rigge 35F or Pointer 48SP, both on a uniform retrieve and on a twitch. Not an ideal “tool” for such kids, but you can catch. If you also use a thinner lace, then the comfort on small baits will only increase. The upper limit for twitch, as it seemed to me, is Pointer 65SP. In wobblers, I would like to say separately about top waters. With medium-sized poppers and walkers, 4g+-, it’s simply great to work with this spinning rod. The “live” tip of the spinning rod allows you to easily control small wolves and make a “clear gurgle” with medium-sized poppers.

With lures such as NW Pencil 52 from LC, the rod works perfectly.

Jig. This is where the “wand” pleased me to the fullest. The smallest weight I used was 1g “Cheburashka” + 1.5” bait. Of course, you should understand that there is no need to talk about the ideal comfort of wiring here; in ideal conditions you can track the work of the tip, but in most situations, with such weight, wiring can only be tracked by the cord. With weights of 2g or more, the tip begins to work more clearly and even in a light wind you can track the wiring without any problems. Starting from 4g you can work with jig in any conditions. If the bottom is more or less hard and there is no strong wind, then a tactile “feel” appears. According to the upper test, I used a 10g “Cheburashka” + Keitech Swing Impact 3”, you can catch it quite comfortably, but somehow you don’t want to put more weight or a larger bait.

The combination of Keitech Swing Impact 3″ and Cheburashka 4g brought a lot of bites that day.

Iron. I include turntables, oscillators, jigs, etc. as iron. It is comfortable to work with these baits throughout the entire test range. There is a slight discomfort in casting with spinners weighing from 6-7g. I was amazed by the range with the 7g castmaster.

Having fished with a spinning rod all last season, I was very pleased. I took it as a light jig “stick”, and I was not disappointed. In the jig I was very pleased with the performance of the spinning rod. I didn’t like the performance of the fishing rod in the upper test with sailing baits, but as for me, this is a small minus, because it is simply impossible to make something super universal. I liked the fishing rod with top waters and various spinners, jigs and bullets. Next season I will try to devote more time to this topic and asp fishing. I think spinning will open up even more in this direction.

Summing up the DGS-702LL model, I would like to note its strengths: - light jig with weights 4-8g + compact/propelled baits up to 3 inches - top waters 4g+- - cranks up to 7g - twitch and deep twitch up to 5 -6g - compact spinners, jigs and “bullets” within the test - spinners up to 8g Based on all this, Dodger 702LL can be safely called a universal light.

Now about the DGC model - 802MH .

Two-piece casting (for a multiplier reel) fishing rod. The length is stated as 8 feet, which is 244 centimeters. Measurement with a tape measure showed 245.5 cm. The weight of the spinning rod is 151.6 grams. Where the tip weighs 16 grams, and the butt 135.6 grams. The test is listed as 7-28 grams. Line test up to 18lb. The spinning rod handle is spaced apart. The lower reargrip and foregrip are made of EVA. Top rear grip made of cork. Handle length 46cm. From the buttcap to the reel seat 31.3cm. Reel seat and guides from Fuji. The form has 8 access rings + a tulip, arranged according to the KR Concept principle.

When the fishing rod fell into my hands, I immediately realized that this Dodger model is, first and foremost, a jig. A powerful butt and a pronounced end action, a combination of length and dough - it all came down to a jig. But I caught my first fishing trip with this “stick” using deep cranks.

The fishing rod allows you to detect the slightest disruptions in the action of the bait and will not allow you to miss the bite of even a small perch.

Cranks of 10 grams or more can be thrown with this “stick,” but the real properties of the fishing rod are revealed on cranks of 15 grams or more. Casting is very comfortable, the blank begins to load and actually shoots the bait. Excellent tactile sensitivity and an informative tip allow you to track the wiring and fully control the operation of the crank. Any contacts of the bait with underwater obstacles and failures in the bait’s play will not go unnoticed.

Almost all the wiring, the crank struck the snags and right next to the boat there was a bite. The blank worked perfectly, considering that the clutch was tightened. The powerful butt made it possible to farce the fishing of the pike, which launched under the boat into the snags. Combat Crank 320 from EG, placed deep in the predator’s mouth.

As for the jig. Due to the “live” tip, starting from 8g you can track the wiring. Starting from 12-14 grams, a tactile “sense” appears. I did not test the “stick” for strength and clearly exceed the stated test. I put a 28g Cheburashka and a 5-inch Relax twister, and in total it’s about 36-38g. I felt discomfort while casting, but I could catch it.

Jig bug.

The fishing rod is very castable and “sticks” to the fish remarkably well. With all this, it has a powerful butt, which will allow you to speed up fishing and fight large fish without any problems.

Used in conjunction with reels such as Daiwa T3 and Daiwa Zillion PE. I used different cords, but mostly they were cords no thinner than PE#1.5.

For me, the DGC-802MH model has become a wonderful replacement for the discontinued legendary fishing rod - Arrival Over Seven 802M from Major Craft.

DGC-802MH is an excellent casting rod for boat jigging and fishing with large deep cranks.

Spinning rods Major Craft reviews

Review #1. Major Craft RTS-902MH

I own a Major Craft RTS-902MH. I fish with jig both from a boat and from the shore. Optimal jig head weights: 16-32 g. For other types of fishing from a boat it is too difficult. From the shore, due to its length, it is a good option for various heavy baits.

Review #2. Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML

I have a Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML, it’s good for twitch, but jigs are not its strong point.

Review #3. Major Craft 852MN 8-35

I have a spinning rod 852MN 8-35 from Major Craft, and I liked it, I bought it for Akhtuba and Oka. I think it's worth the price.

Review #4. Major Craft Restive 782

I’ve been fishing with the 782 model for a season now with 7-28 grams of dough. And to be honest, I was not delighted. There is a message, but I didn’t notice any particular ringing in the jig. It handles wobblers mediocrely; for twitch it is better to look for a more specialized one. I also note that braid often gets tangled on the rod tip. My subjective opinion is that it’s not worth the money.

Review #5. Major Craft Restive RTS-902MH

I purchased an RTS-902MH. I really liked it because it’s light, moderately rigid, long-range, and quite versatile. Suitable for twitch and jig.

Review #6. Major Craft Restive RTS-692ML

I found myself a universal spinning rod for fishing from a boat. Jig, twitching, spinners. I was choosing between Revolta and Restiv. Restiv somehow fit better in my hand, and that’s why I chose it. And I don’t regret it, because the stick is very comfortable. The only downsides I would note are the lack of a loop for the bait and not very neat assembly. But overall I'm very pleased.

Review #7. Major Craft MC Restive -RTS-962MH

I use Major Craft Restive -RTS-962MH, test 8-35g. I’m fishing with a jig from the shore, nothing but positive emotions!

Features of Major Craft spinning rods

For jig

  • Modern Major Craft models have a sensitive rod and are suitable for jigging.
  • The bottom can be felt within a radius of two meters without delay.
  • For jigging on spinning rods from this company, spinning reels with monofilament fishing line from 0.8 mm are suitable.
  • It is not recommended to take thin fishing lines up to 0.4; the fish do not like this when jigging.
  • The bait chosen for each fish is different: spinners, foam rubber, “boat” or silicone baits.

For twitching

  • Select short rods with active animation wobblers of medium and large sizes up to 18 g.
  • The weight of the rod should not exceed 150 grams.
  • For many fishermen, a rod length of 2 m or more is a good size for fishing with wobblers.
  • The indicators are suitable for catching pike or roach from the shore.
  • The rod is solid and vibration-free, which is good for twitching.
  • Any bait reacts to jerks of the fishing line or cord, no need to make additional casts.
  • It is better to put a traction reel with a thick cord on the fishing rod if, when fishing, preference is given to large catches.

Universal spinning rods

  • Major Kraft was able to find buyers from different fishing areas.
  • Using the example of jigging and twitching, it is clear that the rods are universal in their use.
  • For 2021 – 2021, the company’s line is becoming a leader in the production of sports spinning rods that are suitable for any professional angler.
  • In order to teach how to fish with a rod, you don’t need to have special knowledge; the good thing about Major Craft is that it is suitable for different fishing skills.

The company's spinning rods are used with various gear and baits, which makes getting ready before fishing much easier. Now the fisherman does not need to think about the quality of his fishing rod, because Major Craft thought about it himself and made his products high-quality and reliable.

Let's celebrate! At low temperatures, the rod handle does not heat up, and thanks to the cork, it will retain its shape and will not freeze the angler’s hands.
Despite the high cost of spinning rods, the performance of the Major Kraft assortment meets all the requirements for sport fishing with heavy overload.
