Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages of Black Hole spinning rods: 1. Wide choice of characteristics - length, thickness, weight. 2. High quality of materials used. 3. High-quality fittings and assembly. 4. Variety of color shades. 5. Used by both professionals and amateurs due to its ease of operation. 6. Possibility of attaching various types of reels to the rod. 7. Sensitivity and at the same time strength of the tip of spinning rods. 8. Light weight and high test performance. 9. Easy to assemble. 10. All models have a comfortable handle made of various semi-soft materials. 11. Long service life.
Some nuances: 1. The price ratio is a little high. 2. Since 90% of the spinning rod consists of two parts, the length does not allow for compact storage and transportation.
Distinctive features: 1. The main difference between spinning rods and the company is the assembly process - analogues can have many sliding “knees,” while Black Hole has two, but long ones.
2. Before manufacturing, materials undergo many testing stages, after which a truly high-quality product is produced. 3. Some particularly durable and high-quality spinning rods use expensive metals as coatings. 4. All accessories are produced by world famous brands - FUJI and DAIWA. 5. Despite the external thin appearance of spinning rods, you can catch large specimens of fish.
Test report on the Black Hole ONE'S S-642L spinning rod
I would like to start my article with a little background, maybe someone will see themselves in it and my conclusions will help in the future in the difficult choice of the right gear.
I’ll take the liberty of suggesting that I’m no longer new to fishing, although I wouldn’t dare call myself a pro. I started fishing like many on the Ob with three-meter sticks with dough of about 60 grams and a diverter. But over time, I became interested in wobbler fishing, and for the last 6-7 years I have been fishing almost exclusively with wobblers (plus a few rotating and oscillating spoons). It didn’t work out to make friends with the jig (but that’s a completely different story). Naturally, over time, both spinning rods and reels changed, but I’m not a fan of carrying around and storing a bunch of spinning rods at home, so every time I bought a new spinning rod, the long agonies of choice led to the purchase of a universal rod (thoughts like “what if I’ll use a jig”, “ what if...”, “what if...” did not give me peace). And the psychological barrier did not allow me to purchase a spinning rod shorter than 2.2 meters (again, the notorious versatility).
Therefore, when I saw an announcement about a test drive of Black Hole spinning rods, and among them was the ONE'S S-642L bass light rod (a spinning rod originally designed for wobblers and shorter than two meters) there was not even a shadow of doubt, and I left the application. After all, this is exactly what I couldn’t decide on when buying my spinning rods. Looking ahead, I will say that I have never regretted my choice and this testing has helped me in many ways to rethink my attitude to the choice of gear, but first things first.
Well, now about the actual thing being tested:
I'll start with dry statistics - a spinning rod 193 cm long with a dough of 1.8-7 grams. The weight is indicated as 93 grams (in fact the scales showed 96 grams). Rings in a steel frame with a silicon oxide insert, analogue of FUJI KR, anti-wrap tulip. A spaced handle made of cork (to be honest, I don’t like EVA, so for me personally this is a plus), VSS reel seat with a rear nut.
As usual in Russia, a guest is greeted by his clothes:
Hard case-tube with a black zipper, all information and contents are printed in white, everything is strict, reliable and beautiful. The inside of the tube is covered with velvety fabric, the two halves of the spinning rod are secured with Velcro on opposite walls, which completely eliminates any possibility of damaging the spinning rod during transportation. On this point, a solid 6 points out of 5 (and let many more famous manufacturers feel ashamed).
I assemble the spinning rod myself, the joint of the knees is tight, in all this time I have never had to adjust the connection, but it can be disassembled without excessive effort. I immediately noticed that the blank wall on the butt is much thicker than on the tip, and this immediately gave me confidence that there would be plenty of power for forced fishing if necessary (in practice, this turned out to be the case).
The rings are straight, there are no varnish drips anywhere, nothing is loose or wobbly, the form is varnished, all the inscriptions on the decal are white, no bright inserts, again everything is strict. The handle fits into the hand like a glove, the reel seat nut reliably fixes the reel foot, it only had to be tightened a couple of times during all the fishing trips. The nut itself is finished with a mixture of cork and rubber, while fishing you don’t feel hard and cold elements at hand, which will undoubtedly add comfort at low temperatures temperatures The handle is short, twitch, does not interfere at all even with very active manipulations, but at the same time its length is sufficient for power casting with two hands.
I also confidently give 5 points for appearance and assembly.
Well, now about the filling of the spinning rod, that is, about its performance characteristics:
I hung a Shimano Rarenium CI4 2500 reel weighing 190 grams on it, the balance turned out to be excellent, and my hand did not get tired at all after many hours of fishing.
The structure of the spinning rod according to my feelings is MEDIUM FAST, which I always avoided, but as Black Hole ONE'S convinced me, for wobblers this is what the doctor ordered (my first stereotype was broken). The spin works out small wobblers with the tip, larger ones load more and more lengths, but there is no hint of failure up to the non-resistant wobblers of size 110, it feels like you are holding a taut elastic spring in your hands.
Length 193 cm, again I always avoided this length, but I didn’t notice any loss in casting range compared to my Halcyon 222 cm, but working with the animation of wobblers is much more pleasant and easier with a short rod (my second stereotype broke). At the same time, it casts spinning itself, easily and naturally, there is no particular increase in range from power casting, as for me this is a huge plus when fishing for many hours. And climbing the bushes with a short one is generally a pleasure; under the overgrown small rivers I wanted to buy something with a height of 160-170 cm (which I would never have dared to do before).
And now the most interesting and controversial thing about this spinning rod is its test. 1.8-7 grams are indicated, but even at first glance you understand that this is not so. According to my feelings, the casting test is 4-15 grams, at 17 grams a non-critical overload is already felt, 3.5 grams are already flying less than we would like. I'll go through all the baits in order:
When working with minnow wobblers from 60mm up to 100mm, there were no problems with animation with anything, but the 110mm size is already selective, for example with Ever Green General 110 (12g) and Megabass OneTen 110 (14g) everything is great, but with more heavy and stubborn brothers are already failing (but hoping to cover the entire range with one spin is completely wrong). The lower limit for myself is Strike Pro Archback 60 (4.4 g) and Pontoon21 Preferens Shad 55 (4 g), it is no longer comfortable to work with smaller minnows, their you just don't feel it.
I don’t have many poppers, but I didn’t have any problems with wiring with either the Megabass Baby Pop-x (4.5 g) or the Pop Max (14 g). And Sert Killer Pop 80 generally played much more attractively than on the harder Halcyon.
Walkers are animated in any size, from small 50 mm to the largest 100 mm. Drawing a Christmas tree on the water with a short elastic stick is a pleasure, you didn’t even have to get used to it, the spinning rod does almost all the work itself.
The spinning rod copes with oscillating spoons from 4 to 12 grams effortlessly; at 15 grams you already feel a little strain, but if necessary, you can fish calmly without active animation, without worrying about the safety of the gear. There was no need to use turntables during the test, I can’t say anything with confidence about them, but I think there won’t be any problems with them up to 4 for sure.
I didn’t try jig for two reasons: first, I don’t like jigs, and second, the stick was not made for jigs (the same as driving a sports car to a jeep session, or vice versa).
Well, cranks, especially deep ones (a priori stubborn bait), this is where I understood where the manufacturer’s test came from, exactly up to 8 grams, everything is fine, but on larger spins it already fails.
For this discipline I again give the stick 5 points out of 5. I especially liked that spinning rods give you greater freedom with baits; there is no need to equip and carry two spinning rods with you (within reason, of course).
The test subject’s sensitivity is quite sufficient not to miss even the most accurate bite; hits on the grass, bottom, snags are felt perfectly, and it is perfectly distinguishable, which is what the wobbler is currently hitting. Unlike my Halcyon, there is of course no wild sonority, but there is absolutely suffering I didn’t have to, in jigs it might have had an effect, but with wobblers everything is at a fairly comfortable level, I would even say that more is not required. In this discipline, spinning deserves a solid 4 out of 5.
Well, in conclusion, I will describe the work of the wand when landing fish. A decent amount of fish was caught this month, the species composition of the predator was pleasing, there were pike, pike perch, perch, and even ide. In this discipline I confidently give 5 points out of 5, there were practically no departures from Ones, even an ide weighing a kilo didn’t tear its lip, it cuts through any fish in one go, up to 600 grams can easily be thrown ashore using a crane, and even on a pike under two kg there were no problems with fishing, but it was felt that this was far from the limit of his capabilities. On one of the fishing trips, a pike perch weighing about a kilo caught on a wobbler with its belly in the middle, the spinning rod bent into an arc, the clutch began to play off the fence, guesses about the weight began to swarm in my head trophy, but the elastic form very quickly wore out the poor fellow, and after this incident, confidence in the capabilities of the spinning rod increased significantly.
To sum it up, I can only say that the manufacturer has created an excellent tool for working with bulky baits. Light, balanced, agile, with a huge reserve of power. I really wanted to try the older model in the series in working with large wobblers (and at the same time there will be a push to finally go to casting, where I’ve been planning for a long time, but I still can’t go)
And of course, I want to express my deep gratitude to the organizers of the competition for the opportunity to look at my favorite hobby from a different angle. The experience gained as a result of testing is without a doubt priceless for me.
Brevity in general is probably not my thing, thank you for your attention, good luck on the ponds.
Sincerely, Igor.
Review of the best models
Bass Mania
This series of spinning rods is considered universal, because the main parameters – length and test – are perfectly combined. Wobblers and spinners can be used as bait, regardless of the weight of the bait. Test indicators range from 3.5 to 18 g. The rods have a length from 1.83 to 2.25 meters. The structure of the rod allows you to throw fairly heavy baits into hard-to-reach places surrounded by dense vegetation where predators (pike, perch and pike-perch) live. The strength of the rod allows you to fish in a hurry, without having to patiently kill the fish.
River Hunter
The rods are designed for long-distance casting of artificial baits in the form of wobblers, spoons, and silicone fish using the whipping method. A special feature of the series is the presence of not only standard action rods, but also telescopic ones. This feature makes them more compact for transportation and reduces the risk of snagging on coastal thickets when a fisherman changes fishing spots. Technical characteristics: • length – 2.30-2.75 m; • test – 4-50g; • weight – 145-220g.
Classic
The rods are popular among beginners, despite their thin appearance - its blank is made of durable carbon fiber. The handle is large and made of cork material, and the rings are located in such a way as to distribute the load throughout the rod when fishing a large specimen. You can choose any bait. Indicators of spinning rods: • length – 2.1-2.7 m; • test – 2-28; • weight – 105-166g.
Joker
The spinning rods have distinctive features - a handle made of high-quality neoprene and a thin layer of soft metal applied to the blank. Thanks to this shell, the rod acquires additional strength. The reliability of the spinning rod is felt when casting long distances with heavy baits and while fishing for large fish. Technical points: length – 2.5-2.85 m; test – 3-35; weight – 114-169g.
Hyper
Rings made of ultra-light material with silicon inserts on spinning rods have a non-standard placement (wide), which reduces excessive load on the blank and minimizes possible fracture. Particularly thin rod tips allow the fisherman to get the weakest bite. They are suitable for a wide variety of fishing types - from jigging to trolling. Rod parameters: • length – 2.4-3.2 m; • test – 4-50g; • weight – 150-240g.
Hitman
The design of the spinning rods is thought out to the smallest detail - the blank is made of UHM graphite with a titanium shell, the handle has adjusting washers. And also a special “tulip” shape, which prevents possible tangling of the fishing line. All together makes this type of spinning rod ideal for use. Rod properties: • length – 2.65-2.8 m;
• weight – 145-170g; • test – 5-130g.

Lightweight, fast Classic spinning rods are universal. With a medium-fast action, they perform soft twitching, jigging and uniform wiring. The rods work with different baits within the test. The company's advanced solutions are used in the design of spinning rods.
The series spinning rods are used to confidently catch pike, asp, pike perch up to 3 kg, and perch both from a boat and from the shore. Used for catching brown trout, grayling, lenok in streams and rivers with currents.
Rods are used not only in large bodies of water, but also for fishing in oxbow lakes and lakes with overgrown shores.
Tips for choosing a spinning rod and reel
All models of spinning rods of this brand have their own characteristic features - weight, length, test indicators, material. It is impossible to single out one ideal option from the many provided. You should choose a fishing rod taking into account many nuances and your own preferences. These include: 1. When fishing in large bodies of water, it is recommended to choose rods according to their length, and on narrow rivers - a little smaller. The average length of the spinning rod allows you to throw the bait into a precisely defined fishing spot. The smallest rods are necessary when fishing from a boat, because there is very little free space. 2. It is necessary to pay attention to the material from which the form and handle are made. The stronger the materials, the longer it will last. A high-quality blank is a guarantee of preventing its fracture during the process of casting bait and fishing for large, strong fish. 3. Test indicators of the rod tip are of great importance, the higher they are, the better. 4. The rings holding the fishing line must be of high quality so that during the fishing process they do not damage the main fishing line or cord. They must also be positioned correctly so that when the form is loaded, the risk of breaking it is reduced to zero. 5. The light weight of the rod will add convenience when fishing, because there are a lot of casts, which makes your hands tired. Modern spinning rods look quite thin and light, but this does not affect the quality.
When purchasing a reel, you should consider: 1. The weight of the reel. 2. What material is it made of? It is better to buy one with a metal body, because the plastic bases of the reel quickly become unusable. 3. The reel mechanism must contain bearings. For normal operation, having 5-7 pieces is quite enough. 4. The spool must accommodate sufficient footage of fishing line. For medium and long casts, a winding of 90-110 meters is sufficient. 5. When catching large fish, it is necessary to have a baitrunner and a front drag in the reel to avoid breakage of the tackle.
The manufacturer of spinning rods BLACK HOLE cares about the quality of its products.
All models are made to last and meet all the needs of fishermen. In fishing they are noted mainly on the positive side. Source
Which reel to choose for Black Hole spinning rod
Choosing a Black Hole spinning reel depends on the rod you choose.
1. If you have a powerful and long rod, you need a reel with a large spool capacity (from 3000 to 4500); for light spinning rods, spool sizes of 1000-2000 are suitable.
2. The number of bearings is not a primary parameter, but there should not be less than 4, this will guarantee quality in the subsequent operation of your reel.
3. Front or rear clutch. The choice should be on the front clutch if you have thin gear with a light spinning rod, since the rear clutch is not capable of providing such a sensitive release of the line at the right moment.
When choosing a reel, there are several more nuances, you can learn about all of them by reading the complete guide on how to choose the right reel for a spinning rod.
