Fishing on the Rybinsk Reservoir

When caught

Spring: March, after the last ice, use jigs and jigs for everything: perch, pike, burbot. It’s no wonder that March is the golden season for winter fishing enthusiasts. April, depending on your luck, sometimes you catch it like winter, sometimes like summer, sometimes you don’t catch anything at all! May, with a fishing rod or spinning rod, but only from the shore. The water is closed to motor boats until June 5 on average. From the shore we catch bleak (fun and tasty), crucian carp and other shellfish. Summer: June, in general, full-fledged fishing for everyone, everyone, everyone. It’s July, it’s very hot, you have to get up early, the predator comes out to shallow water in the morning to feed. August, fishing begins in holes, depths, and also “under the seagull”. Experience shows that it is effective to catch under a seagull not only by throwing spinners into the cauldron, but also by moving it along the bottom (jig, foam rubber, whatever), since a serious predator is sure to pull up the perch behind the cauldron. Autumn: September, everything is caught very well. October is the juiciest time! The fish fatten up before the freeze-up, enter rivers, sink into holes, and crowd together. Easy to find, easy to catch. November, depending on your luck, sometimes you catch it like winter, sometimes like summer, sometimes nothing at all! Winter: December, if there is ice, then winter fishing lovers know what to do.

In winter.

2. In winter, roaches are caught using a reelless bait, maggots, stand-ups (sets and girders), bloodworms, medium specimens up to 1.5 kg. Pike and pike perch also use live bait baits. Contrary to what most people think, there are a lot of trophy pike perch up to 4 kg in the reservoir.
3. Bream is caught in winter in Yauza , Mozhaika .
4. In Vesyegonsk , perch, roach (caught despite frosts down to -20, mothless, maggot, bloodworm), pike perch, pike on girders, and bersh go well in winter.
5. Myaksa . Pike up to 3 kg are caught in winter using baits and girders. They use caught ruffe or sprat.

Fishing in the Rybinsk Reservoir in spring, summer and autumn occurs mainly along the right bank, from Rybinsk, all the way to Cherepovets. Pike

On some websites there is information that supposedly there are pikes weighing up to 20 kilograms. In principle, this is possible - the depth, large volume of the reservoir and large food supply allow.

But even 10 kg pike, which are often written about in reports, is a more than decent result. It will not be possible to catch a predator in the spring due to the ban, but in the spring and autumn you can count on a good catch. Summer here is usually not very hot, so pike are active throughout all three months, with the exception of rare days with too high air temperatures.

Large fish are found at great depths, and this affects the gear used - usually they use girders. You can take any fish as bait, the main thing is that it lives in a given body of water. Most often, pike are found at the deepest points near the islands.

You can also catch small pike in shallow water using a spinning rod. Wobblers and spinners (shakers, spinners) perform very well.

In September, pike begin their pre-winter feeding, so sometimes you can find large specimens in shallow water. The baits are the same, but you can additionally use mugs.

Pike perch on Rybinka

This fish is smaller than pike, but catching it is also no less interesting. On average, pike perch in the Rybinsk reservoir reaches 6-7 kg. Bites well throughout the summer and autumn.

Small individuals can be active during the day, but the real “monsters” begin to be active after sunset.

Therefore, it is important to determine suitable places for fishing before dark - most often the pike perch is in the pits.

There are not many holes in the Rybinsk Reservoir, but they can be detected using an echo sounder or “tapping” with a spinning rod. Pike perch can often be found among snags. In summer, it often goes out to feed on spits and shallows.

Catching pike perch in the Rybinsk Reservoir from the shore is a great success. It is easier to get to promising points by boat. Moreover, having found one fish, you can know for sure that there are its “brethren” nearby.

Important! Their smaller “brothers” - bershis - usually swim next to the pike perch.

A spinning rod is selected that is durable, with a rigid action, test - 10-30 grams.

For fishing from a boat, a length of up to 3 meters is enough. The reel should be no less durable than a rod with a large spool capacity. The best baits: silicone and mandula.

Rybinsk crucian carp

Everything is standard here - in summer, crucian carp are found in the depths or in reed thickets, so for successful fishing you need to use a boat. A regular 4-meter rod and 0.1-0.12 mm fishing line will suffice.

But from the shore you can reach the deep parts of the reservoir only with longer gear - at least 10 meters. The bait is standard: worm, maggot, dough, semolina.

Closer to autumn, crucian carp come out into shallow water and you can successfully catch them from the shore. Now the animal baits should prevail. Catching a kilogram crucian carp in the Rybinsk Sea is a common thing.

Perch fishing

The best places for catching perch in the Rybinsk Sea are small areas of the reservoir covered with underwater vegetation. There are not many of them in this reservoir, but here you can count on a good catch at any time of the year.

The classic method of fishing using a spinning rod: since you mainly fish from a boat, an appropriate rod is 2.4-2.8 meters, a cord of 0.1-0.12 mm is no longer needed.

The most effective baits are spoons, spinners and jigs. In the fall, there is a chance to catch a striper using deep-water wobblers.
