How to understand the inscriptions on spinning rods and fishing lines. Conversion tables. Markings and symbols on fishing rods.

Currently, with all the variety of imported fishing gear, it is sometimes difficult to understand the names and designations. We are all accustomed to meters, centimeters, millimeters, kilograms and grams. But how do you convert pounds to kilograms? How to understand the names of spinning rods and what the letters and words in the names of our gear mean.

Accessories

The next important characteristic of a spinning rod is the fittings.
It consists of rings and a handle with a reel seat. The latter is located on the handle of the rod and is one of its most important elements. It is designed to hold the coil in a constant fixed position and is made of metal or composite materials with the addition of graphite. The reel seat comes with a lower or upper nut, and there are also “skeleton” type models. And, of course, we should not forget that the presence of a trigger (“trigger” in common parlance) indicates that this rod is intended to work in tandem with a baitcasting reel. As for the handle, it should be comfortable and warm in the hand - this is especially important when fishing in late autumn or winter, when the thermometer often drops much below zero. The handles are made from cork or a polyurethane foam material called EVA. The quality of both materials is usually directly proportional to the cost of the rod.

Rod markings

Form material

  • GRAPHITE – Rod blank material – carbon fiber.

The rod blank is made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber has high strength, as a result of which the walls of the rod are made very thin and the rod has minimal weight and high sensitivity. Many manufacturers indicate the carbon fiber content in % (for example, 92% carbon, the rest is binder material)

  • COMPOSITE - The material of the rod blank is a composite material, it can be a mixture of different materials

\The rod blank is made of two components: carbon fiber and fiberglass. For assessment - by the weight of the fishing rod and its strength parameters, these forms are located between the forms made of material containing one of these components

  • FIBERGLASS — The material of the rod blank is fiberglass.

The rod blank is made entirely of fiberglass. Fiberglass is a less durable material than carbon fiber, so the rod walls are made thicker, and the rods are heavier and less sensitive.
