Kershinskoye Reservoir. The Kershinskoye Reservoir is located on the river. Dalnyaya Kershan is on the territory of the Rasskazovsky district, but legally it is assigned to the Tambov district. The reservoir was formed in 1983. This fairly large reservoir has an area of 236 hectares. Average depths are 3-5 m. Maximum depth is 18 meters. The reservoir is classified as a specially protected natural area.
The Kershin Reservoir is a picturesque place. Its gently sloping sandy shores are surrounded by mixed forests. The area of the Kershin Reservoir is diligently protected, its fresh waters are protected from the discharge of dirty wastewater. On the coasts, order and cleanliness are monitored. The waters of the Kershin Reservoir are used for water supply to adjacent villages, irrigation and fishing. The reservoir is preserved for use for scientific and recreational purposes, and for studying ways of developing environmental and economic conditions. The clean and clear waters of the reservoir attract a lot of vacationers and fishermen.
The Kershin Reservoir is rich in a variety of fish. In the waters of this reservoir there are crucian carp, pike, rudd, tench, perch, carp, and bream. Fishing for large and cautious roach is especially popular here. It is not very drawn to the grass and usually stands on the edge of clear water. Feeding is used to catch it. This fish responds best to surface food, and the fisherman throws a crust of bread onto the surface of the water. The crust does not produce any cloudiness and the fines are not very attractive. Usually the crust doesn’t work the first time and gets blown into the grass, the fisherman throws in the next one. If the roach’s stopping place is chosen correctly, then sooner or later the fish rises to the surface. Catching her now is a matter of technique.
The Kershin Reservoir also has its own “kings of grass” - tench and crucian carp, and carp is also found. So those who like to sit alone with a fishing rod or feeder in the reed thickets will find their favorite fish.
The main predator, interesting to many spinning anglers, is, of course, pike. Small individuals are fairly evenly distributed throughout almost the entire reservoir. If you're lucky, you can catch a trophy specimen. Specimens from 2 kilograms and above adhere to deep dumps; the places of underwater slides among the depths are especially interesting. The most promising “pike” depths at the beginning of summer are 4-5 meters. By mid-summer, the predator moves to smaller places up to 3 meters. But in September it again moves to greater depths.
In sunny and calm weather, catching local pike with a spinning rod is not very promising. But a cloudy sky and a slight wind create excellent conditions for predators to bite. In such weather, the chance to catch a good pike is maximum, and it lasts throughout the day. In the heat, the predator's bite is best observed at dawn, as well as at dawn. The complex topography of the bottom of the Kershin Reservoir suggests the use of jig baits. The most popular tire colors are orange and white. A well-chosen wobbler will also give a good return on the money invested in it. However, the results of a number of fishing trips in this reservoir suggest: most large pikes prefer the good old spoons - spoons. Especially capable of bottom tracking at depths of 5-6 meters. Spinner baits perform well in shallow water when catching small specimens and medium-sized perches along coastal thickets. When fishing on the shore, it is worth taking into account a considerable number of critters lying at shallow depths. Fishing on the Shushpan Reservoir
In this area, experienced fishermen most often catch bream. They usually reach a weight of more than 2 kilograms, but some fish lovers have also come across specimens weighing up to 4 kg.
The depth of the Shushpan reservoir is 8-10 meters, but the main depth at which bream is found is 5-7 meters. In late autumn it can be up to 8 meters. And in the spring, large bream are found at a depth of 2 to 8 meters.
It is important to know that in spring fish are most often caught in windy areas. Bream, like other fish species, prefers plant bait, so fishermen who use it will be able to perfectly attract the attention of an entire population of this species. In the summer, bream can be caught even during the day at a depth of 6 meters, because the Shushpan reservoir has all the conditions for this.
This reservoir makes it possible to catch bream close to the shore. And in some places it can even be caught from concrete slabs that are located 20 meters from the water. This distance is convenient for one simple reason - underwater cliffs begin here, and in most areas it is very convenient to cast a fishing rod at a distance of 50 meters.
The largest concentration of schools of bream is observed at the underwater edges. Shore fishing has many advantages for catching fish, especially if you use a float rod that has a long cast. However, if you want to catch as many fish as possible, it is better to take care of a good donk rather than a float.
The gum donka has gained great popularity on the Shushpan Reservoir. Large expanses of water make it possible to stretch this gear over a large area. By the time we stopped at the store and picked up some food and toffees, we decided which route we would take to Bondarskaya Kersha. We had not yet decided what the road would be like. But the road turned out like this:

The road between the villages is well-trodden, and in many places you can see old gravel that holds the road solidly. In Tatarshchino we stayed a little longer, photographing interesting places. For example, the crane, which you can hardly find anywhere.
After Tatarshchino we drove out onto a normal, paved road. And, turning left, we drove along the side of the road. The track turned out to be busy, there were often various cars on it, and when there were no cars in sight, the guys were playing around, threatening to fall off their seats.
So we happily drove to the turn to Stolovoe. Power lines pass in front of it. They have the ability to charge nearby iron objects with electricity. For example, the seatpost has nuts made of iron. When driving under power lines, the “nuts” hit your butt painfully. Sooo unpleasant...
At the turn, after discussing how much everyone had suffered, drinking all the water and eating a peanut bar, we moved on. Descent, long ascent and descent again - and we found ourselves at the first reservoir.
There, at the water drainage control, we took photos and moved on. Dimka, a little tired, began pestering Vovka and me with questions: “How long is it left to Kersha?”, “How far have we traveled?” We laughed it off with numbers that were either large or not, but very close to the truth).
We stopped at a church and a store to rest and find where to get water. The kind grannies pointed out that at the end of the village there is a small turn that will lead to a spring. They didn’t find him right away, but they found him anyway, got some water and, deciding not to return to the main road, drove along the road through the fields. Fortunately, I knew my way around this area quite well and had a rough idea of where and where to turn.
After some time we were already at our destination. As expected, there were a lot of vacationers: someone was riding a motorboat, someone was chasing a circle with screaming people on a scooter, someone was holding onto a rope and jumping over the waves on water skis. There were also just vacationers who swam, barbecued by the water and simply sunbathed. We had to drive along the river in search of quieter places. After a long search, such a place was found - even the coals there from the previous vacationers had not yet cooled down, and in general they were packing in a hurry, they forgot skewers, a woman’s swimsuit, a grate, and a ball. We didn’t need their wealth, we just threw dry leaves and branches into the dying fire, heated the porridge and made tea.
There, in a quiet and unhurried conversation, we figured out further actions. After eating, we got ready and went back a little to swim a little, since where we rested, entering the water was not very successful. After splashing around and wasting another hour, it was decided to go home. By this time we had already traveled 53 km, and the time was approaching 18:00. Therefore, we went, as was discussed earlier, along a shorter route, but with a difficult road - sands.
To do this, we had to move further along the river, almost to the very source. There the road went sharply to the left and in a straight line. Along the way we found thickets of fragrant raspberries.
And then the most unpleasant thing began: our wheels were buried in the sand, switching speeds to the lowest, we tried to somehow make our way along the difficult rut. Sometimes they simply got off their bikes and walked them next to them. Of course, the tires could have been deflated and then the problem would have been less, but it would have been difficult to inflate them back to normal road tires using a regular pump. And the sands didn’t have to go that long. After suffering, we finally got to the city dump, where the road already had elements of crushed stone and a less thick cover of sand. The ride became much easier, and half an hour later we were already in Platonovka. In terms of kilometres, the sands took us 12 km.
Then it became much easier, the usual asphalt returned. At the square we drove across the railway tracks and further along the street until the intersection with the highway. A little earlier, a small, cute gray lump ran up to us, who really wanted to be held and was generally given in every possible way. He was well-fed, with good fur, and apparently ran away. I took it upon myself to return him to his owners. Local residents did not recognize the kitten and offered to take him in, but this was in no way possible. So I went on looking for someone to give it to. I met some kids on bikes and asked if the kitten was theirs. One guy recognized him. It was a store kitten, where his mother cat lives. He offered to take him there. I handed it to him, the guys carefully went to return the lost child to the cat.
At the crossroads, we decided not to follow the highway, but to cross it, leaving at the state farm. There we said goodbye to Dimka. His mileage at that time was 76 km.
And we quickly drove along Morozovskaya to our houses. Our mileage was 82 km.

Fishing in the Tambov region

Around Tambov there are many different bodies of water: rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Their number, due to drying out at different times of the year, can vary from three hundred to two thousand. There are many places here for fishermen who prefer both solitary fishing and going out into nature in company.
There are many rivers in the region, but not very many large ones. The main part of water resources is represented in the form of small rivers. Mainly rivers of the Tambov region. belong to the Volga basin, and only a small number of them belong to the Don basin.
As the main trophies, fishing in the Tambov region can please you with ruff, roach, carp and, of course, pike. In particularly successful situations and with proper preparation, the list of trophies can be expanded with the following types of fish:
Many fishermen prefer small rivers, often underestimating medium-sized bodies of water. Despite this prejudice, the following rivers can provide a great time and guarantee some good trophies:
The first two are especially interesting from the list. They are not as big as, for example, the same Don, but this does not affect the quality of fishing on them. Almost along their entire length you can fish for free, with the exception of a few paid fisheries. Fishing on these rivers is almost year-round, with the exception of the spawning period (April–early June). There are also restrictions on winter fishing, but their nature varies from season to season.
The southern part of the Tambov region is also very popular. You can go south, and already 15–20 km from Tambov fishing promises to be very productive. The surrounding villages of Bokino, Goreloye, and Troitskaya Dubrava are especially interesting for local fishermen.
A good bite is observed on the river. Karian near the village. Alekhino, Znamensky district.
Near the dams there are many shallows where asp can be caught well with a spinning rod. It is best to catch it in the morning using spinners.
Despite the abundance of lakes in the region, normal fishing is possible only on two to three dozen of them. Since the depth of most lakes does not exceed two meters, it is not possible to fish well in them. An exception to this rule are several lakes in the Michurinsky and Staroyurievsky districts of the region, for example, the small Lake Lesnoye.
Of interest is Lake Ramza, which has an area of more than 200 hectares. This is the largest floodplain reservoir in the region.
Lakes Kipets, Svyatoe and Chistoe are also recommended for fishing.
Fishing in the Tambov region Kershinskoye Reservoir
Fishing in the Tambov region, as we have already said, has many advantages. In addition to the gorgeous Shushpansky reservoir in this area, you will also find the Kershinskoye reservoir. This reservoir is quite extensive, as it covers an area of more than 200 hectares. Its average depth is 3-5 meters, but at maximum points the depth can reach 18 meters. This reservoir is known for the fact that there are quite a lot of crucian carp, pike, perch, rudd, and bream.
The most popular activity in this region is catching large roach. It is located in clear water, but in grass thickets it is quite difficult to find. Fishermen feed the fish in advance to stir it up, but this technique does not always work the first time. So, season after season, local fishermen, using this original method of fishing, prepare places for catching roach.
Many people know that this type of fish responds well to surface food, so fishermen can easily throw a crust of bread onto the surface of the water. It will not muddy the water, but will immediately attract the attention of several fish. By repeating this technique again, you can expect the appearance of more mature fish. If you choose the right place for fishing, you can catch a fairly large number of medium-sized roaches.
It should be borne in mind that catching roach is far from easy. Using the method described above, you can try to catch your first fish on the Kershin Reservoir. Remember that it lies not just in the starting bait, but in the endurance, patience and ingenuity of the fisherman.
In the Kershinsky reservoir there is also fish that lives in grassy areas. This includes crucian carp. If you like to sit with a fishing rod or feeder, then here you can easily catch this fish.
Without any doubt, the main predator known to many spinigists is the pike. Fish of this species are distributed evenly throughout the reservoir. Representatives of the pike tribe, namely specimens from 2 kilograms, often stick to deep reservoirs.
Reservoirs
It’s hard to imagine fishing in Tambov without the region’s two reservoirs – Kershinsky and Shushpansky. These are the largest artificial reservoirs in the region. Besides them, there are several smaller ones, for example, Yaroslavl.
Kershinskoye Reservoir

The depth of this reservoir reaches 11 meters, so bream can also be found in it.
Shushpanskoye Reservoir
A large reservoir with an area of more than 200 hectares, with an average depth of about 5 m. Some sections of the bottom have a depth of 18 m. Common inhabitants of the reservoir are roach, crucian carp, perch and pike.
This reservoir is best suited for pike fishing with a spinning rod. In hot weather, pike will bite well in the morning or evening. When fishing from the shore, you should be wary of a large number of small snags located in the coastal zone.
Yaroslavl Reservoir
Yaroslavskoye Reservoir, located near the village. Yaroslavka, approximately halfway along the E119 highway from Tambov to Michurinsk.
The average depth of the reservoir is about 3.5 m, but in its basin there are holes up to 6 m deep. Among the fish on the Yaroslavl Reservoir you can find:
There are a couple of dozen ponds in the region where local fish farms produce fish. Recently, they began to provide fishermen with paid fishing services in their reservoirs. Prices vary, but almost all farms operate according to the same scheme: daily payment plus a tariff per kilogram of fish caught. Usually carp are grown in such ponds, but bream, roach and pike are sometimes found.
Paid reservoirs
Pond Orlovsky
Located near the village. Orlovka in the Tambov region. The pond is stocked regularly. Among the fish you can find roach, perch, pike, silver carp and grass carp.
The fishery operates all year round. The entrances are in the form of dirt roads.
The cost of 12 hours of fishing is 500 rubles. One day – 1000 rub. The voucher includes 5 and 10 kg of fish, respectively. Fish caught in excess of the norm is paid at 150 rubles/kg. In winter, the cost of fishing is 200 rubles, and up to 10 fishing poles are allowed.
Lake Krasivoe
Located in Michurinsky district near the village. Beautiful. The area of the reservoir is about 50 hectares, the depth is up to 8 m. The lake is stocked with carp and grass carp. The average weight of fish is 5–8 kg, some specimens weigh up to 20 kg.
Currently, the reservoir is used for sport fishing. All fish caught must be released.
Recreation center Galdym
Located on the banks of the Tsna. There is a whole entertainment complex here, in addition to fishing, which provides rafting and other tourist services to vacationers. Accommodation for vacationers is possible in comfortable cottages.
The variety of fish is typical for the rivers of this area. Here you can catch pike, rudd, catfish, asp, and ruff. Fishing for vacationers is free. Equipment rental is available.
The daily cost of accommodation ranges from 2400 to 4000 rubles. per person.
