Voronezh region
boasts of its water resources. The total length of rivers throughout the Voronezh region is approximately 11,000 km; there are also more than seven hundred lakes and almost two and a half thousand ponds. And so that there are no fish left in such a water world? For example, in Khopra alone there are more than 30 species of fish, and what can we say then about the most important river in the Voronezh region - the Don. Pike perch weigh 5-7 kg, catfish here weigh several tens of kilograms, all these are catches on the Don.

In total, there are more than 800 rivers and small streams in the region. The largest of them is Don. There are also lakes in the region, which are often located in river floodplains. Most of them are natural monuments (for example, Pogonovo, Zhirovskoye, Kremenchug).
In addition to rivers, there are about 2 thousand artificial ponds in the region, mostly built in waterless areas. The largest of them is the Voronezh reservoir, which is 35 km long, 2 km wide, and has an area of 70 thousand km².
River Don
Within the region, the river stretches for 550 km and carries water from the southern to the northern border of the region. The riverbed is winding, the left bank is flat, the right bank is steep. The river's floodplain is wide and completely filled with water in spring. The right bank is overgrown with oak forests, the left - with pine forests.
Within the region, numerous rivers and streams flow into the Don. The largest among them are: Quiet Sosna, Ikorets, Chernaya Kalitva, Devitsa, Veduga, Bityug, Voronezh, Khoper.
The Don is home to 67 species of different fish. Fishermen often catch asp, rudd, roach, perch, tench, bleak, gudgeon, etc. Larger catches include bream, pike, pike perch, catfish, and burbot.
Voronezh River
The Voronezh River is formed by the confluence of two rivers outside the region: Polny and Lesnoy Voronezh. It is the left channel of the Don. The main channel along the flow of the reservoir is not the same. It is shallow and narrow in the steppe and deep, high-water in forest areas.
Fish species in the river are represented by perch, roach, rudd, asp, pike perch, catfish, pike, bream, crucian carp, bleak, gudgeon, burbot, ruffe, tench, etc. There are 41 of them in total.
Khoper River
The Khoper River is the left largest tributary of the Don. It has a width of up to 100 m and a depth of 17 m. The current is fast, the bottom is often sandy.
The river is convenient and productive for fishermen. Many species of fish live in its waters. Chub, asp, crucian carp, bream, perch, pike, sabrefish, catfish, ide, pike perch, roach, bleak, etc. are often caught. Less commonly, gudgeon, carp, tench, burbot, sterlet, etc. are caught.
Usmanka River
The Usmanka River is also popular among spinners in the Voronezh region. Holidays near the Usmanka River are popular not only among fishermen. There are a lot of couples vacationing here with children. Almost its entire shore is overgrown with reeds and there are a lot of places where trees grow close to the water, providing natural shelter for fish. There are both deep holes and shallow rifts here. Fans of fishing for predators will find this river most interesting.
Voronezh reservoir
The artificial reservoir was formed in 1971...1072. by constructing a dam on the Voronezh River. The length of the reservoir stretches for 30 km, its width does not exceed 2 km. The total area of the water surface is 70 km². Geographically located in the urban settlement of Voronezh and divides it into two parts.
The reservoir, being a continuation of the Voronezh River, pleases the fisherman with the same species of fish. These are perch, roach, rudd, asp, pike perch, catfish, pike, bream, crucian carp, bleak, gudgeon, burbot, ruffe, tench, etc. Thanks to constant stocking of fish, silver carp and grass carp have taken root in the reservoir.
Lakes of the Voronezh region
The lakes of the Voronezh region are ready to compete with the Don, the main waterway of the region. The Don and its numerous tributaries define a large number of lakes in the region. There are 738 of them in total. The Voronezh region is famous for such large lakes as Lake Kremenchug, Bogatoye, Pokrovskoye, Pogonovo, Stepnovo and others. All lakes in the Voronezh region are freshwater. Many of them are located in ecologically clean areas of the region. Almost all lakes are recreation areas. On their banks there are numerous sanatoriums, boarding houses and holiday homes.
The lakes of the Voronezh region are rich in fish. There are specialized fish farming enterprises located in the region. They raise various species of sturgeon, including the unique paddlefish, although sturgeon can also be caught outside the waters of these enterprises. The lakes are also rich in carp, silver carp, and grass carp. Fishermen in the Voronezh region have the opportunity to commercially catch environmentally friendly fish grown in ideal conditions.

Currently, there is a sharp decline in the numbers of many fish species. This happened in connection with the creation of a reservoir on the Voronezh River, a sharp deterioration in the condition of reservoirs and poaching.
Recreation centers
Recreation centers with fishing in the Voronezh region are always ready to receive guests and provide them with proper comfort. Several of them are very popular among local and visiting fishing enthusiasts.
"Aster"

The floating recreation center "Raft" offers a trip along the Don River. This is a very comfortable, universal camp, equipped with:

- collapsible bathhouse;
- kitchen utensils.
Four and eight-seater boats are available. The tour can take place in various places and lasts from three to five days. During the trip, sightseeing is expected. You can fish both from a raft and from the shore.
Ecology of the Voronezh region
The most important environmental problem in the Voronezh region is air pollution from vehicle gases. Their “contribution” to the situation is estimated at 80% in the region and 90% in the city of Voronezh.
The quality of river waters has recently stabilized. For the largest river in the region (Don), it is characterized as “moderate pollution.”
It is alarming that today another 42 enterprises in the region discharge waste into surface water bodies without preliminary treatment.
