Fishing on the Tobol River
The Tobol is the largest and deepest tributary of the Irtysh. City of exiles
Tobol has a rich history. In the 16th century, the exploration of Siberia by Ermak’s Cossacks began from these places. At the same time, the city of Tobolsk was founded at the mouth of the river, which for a long time was the main military, political, commercial and religious center of the region. It was called nothing less than the capital of Siberia.
At the same time, Tobolsk, like the lower reaches of the river as a whole, almost immediately became a place of exile for political prisoners. True, the first person sent here was... the bell! He was sent along with the Uglichites, who staged lynching of the alleged murderers of Tsarevich Dmitry. The bell suffered for notifying the townspeople about this tragic event, awakening in them a desire for reprisals. Today a copy of it can be seen in the Historical and Architectural Museum - the original returned to Uglich at the end of the 19th century. The fate of the Decembrists was especially closely connected with Tobol. At the end of hard labor, many of them were resettled throughout the Tobolsk province. In 1927, a museum complex was created in Yalutorovsk in honor of the Decembrists. Today it includes the memorial houses of M. I. Muravyov-Apostol and I. D. Yakushkin, in which the interiors of the 19th century were recreated, as well as a local history museum and the House of Nature. In addition to the museum complex, in Yalutorovsk a birch grove located right within the city limits was named in honor of the Decembrists. This forest area of 90 hectares is considered a natural monument of regional significance. Exiled prisoners were not allowed to leave Yalutorovsk further than two miles, so the nearby grove became their favorite place for walks.
On the very banks of the Tobol there is also the Museum of the Decembrists in Kurgan. Thirteen participants in the uprising of noble revolutionaries lived in this city. The house where the museum is now belonged to one of them - M. M. Naryshkin. Having lived in Kurgan for five years, he did a lot for the region in the field of gardening, horse breeding, cultural development and charity.
Golden mean
Tobol is one of the most popular rivers of fishermen in the Kurgan and Tyumen regions. And for good reason. The fish here are large, plentiful and can be caught all year round. Archaeological sites
These places are also very interesting in terms of archaeology. People have lived here for a long time.
The first archaeological excavations in these places back in 1883 were carried out by Ivan Slovtsov , the founder of the Tyumen Local History Museum. On the southern shore of Small Andrew's Lake he found interesting artifacts. Subsequently, excavations continued. Since then, several settlements of our distant ancestors have been found on the shores of the Andreevskaya lake system. Archaeologists date the oldest finds to the 5th millennium BC .
Traces of the fortified settlement of Andryushin town . Here you can see protective ditches and ramparts from enemy attacks. Even now the height of the shaft reaches four meters. The same Ivan Slovtsov began excavating the ancient settlement. On the site of the fort, traces of 36 half-dugouts can be traced. Andryushin town dates back to the Iron Age.
In the 9th - 18th centuries, Mansi sanctuaries . During the excavations, religious objects, weapons, jewelry made of bronze and even silver were discovered. Local Mansi maintained active trade relations. Furs were exchanged for silver.
Based on the finds, archaeologists identified a new archaeological culture, named after Lake Andreevskaya .
Now more than 30 archaeological sites : 19 settlements, 5 burial grounds, 6 settlements and 1 sanctuary.
In 2013, during archaeological practice on Lake Andreevskoe, students made a unique find - they discovered a copper cauldron with treasure . The treasure contained approximately two kilograms of silver jewelry and coins. Among them are Arab coins of the 10th-11th centuries, pendants with precious stones, and bead necklaces.
As Alexei Gordienko, candidate of historical sciences, who heads the excavations, told reporters, such coins were found in Western Siberia for the first time.
“The treasure belonged to the ancestors of the Mansi, we base it on the fact that it was found at a settlement belonging to the Yuda archaeological culture. The objects themselves are almost all imported and were made in Volga Bulgaria,” the scientist noted.
The cauldron with jewelry was found by chance at a depth of 40-50 centimeters. The treasure dates back to the 10th-12th centuries AD. The fact that in addition to items from Volga Bulgaria, Arab coins were also found speaks in favor of the fact that this treasure belonged to a certain noble family who lived here. Probably the treasure was buried in the ground during the Tatar-Mongol invasion.
Nearby, archaeologists found large mirrors that were used by nomadic warriors for funeral rituals.
