Where can you go fishing near Minsk (Belarus)

According to reviews from Belarusians, every third local resident in the Minsk region fishes, and the entire population eats fish. Fishing here is both a favorite hobby of many people and a way to please the family with delicious river fish.

There are a great many rivers and lakes here, which is why fishing is so developed. The most popular fishing spots in the vicinity of the capital of the Republic of Belarus will be discussed in our article.

Rivers for fishing in the Minsk region

First of all, fishing in the Minsk region takes place on numerous rivers, of which there are about 450. And the total length of these waterways in the Minsk region exceeds 10 thousand kilometers.

The most popular rivers among local fishermen here are:

  • Neman;
  • Beaver;
  • Vilia;
  • Fool;
  • Usa;
  • Eastern Berezina;
  • Slisloch;
  • Case.

Let's look at them in more detail.

Vilia

This river flows in two countries at once - Belarus and Lithuania - and is the right tributary of the large Neman River. The length of the Viliya River is almost 500 kilometers, and most of it is located in Belarus, forming, among other things, the famous Vileika Reservoir. The banks of this river are mostly quite low, although sometimes there are steep banks with cliffs.

Many rural settlements have been built along the river. Fish come to Viliya to fish for perch, pike, bream, tench, silver bream, crucian carp, and algae. The most successful hunters come across pike perch, brook trout, lamprey, chub, podust, burbot, eel, as well as impressive-sized catfish (they can be found, for example, in the fall).

In summer, according to fishermen, the water here begins to bloom early. In winter, you can leave the spinning rod with great pleasure and please yourself with a catch of predatory fish. In December, burbot fishing is excellent here.

Neman

Lovers of beautiful and untouched nature and avid fishermen call the Neman River nothing less than a living creature. This river flows through the territory of Belarus at a distance of more than 40 kilometers, and then flows into the Black Gancha River.

Winter fishing is good here, from about mid-December, when thick ice forms on the river, which can support the weight of a fisherman, and the maximum ice can reach a thickness of 60 centimeters! You can go ice fishing until the end of March, until the stormy flood begins, which continues until the last spring month, May.

Fishermen here hunt both peaceful fish and predatory fish: asp, barbel, pike perch, dace. In addition, just below the place where the Viliya River flows into the Neman, you can find sturgeon - they swim here during the spawning period. In the spring, asp and pike are actively caught here using echo sounders; in the summer, bream and chub are caught on spoons and feeders.

But the best fishing, according to local residents, occurs in the fall, in September. At this time of year you can catch quite large specimens of tench or bream. In winter, local fishermen hunt ides.

Beaver

The length of this beautiful river is more than 120 kilometers. The fish note: even if you are unlucky with your catch here, just being in such a beautiful place charges you with positivity for a long time.

The bed of the Beaver River is quite winding, and the banks in places have cliffs and are very steep, so fishermen need to be extremely careful.

People catch here, first of all, pike, asp, burbot, ide, perch, bleak, and roach. The luckiest fishermen come across pike perch. Minnows and saberfish are also found.

In the spring, mainly in May, perches are caught here, which, growing up, lurk in the pits. In the summer, people come here for asp - due to the slow current of the Beaver, the young of this fish love these places and gather in schools.

In autumn, in muddy and high waters, pike lamprey larvae are used, and pike perch are also found. In winter, fishermen are also attracted to pike, and you can fish from a boat until December. But in January, the only people who are found among fishermen are local residents; the rest come to these places just to admire the beautiful winter forest and the banks of the river covered with snow.

Fool

This river is not wide and not stormy, but with a fairly strong current, and stretches for 150 kilometers. Freeze-up here begins in December, and high water begins in the middle of the first spring month.

According to reviews from local fishermen, the best fishing on Morocha is observed in May - in the high waters, predatory fish are actively hunted here. There are also crucian carp - mainly in the area of the settlement of Kievichi. In summer you can find carp, perch, white bream, and silver bream here.

In autumn comes the pike fishing season. But in winter, with the help of such gear as a feeder, fishing rods, and spinning rods, you can catch both pike and roach or perch. Local residents note with regret that in winter, due to the lack of ice on the river, poachers are often encountered.

Usa

This tributary of the Neman River is distinguished by clean water and the presence of a sufficient number of so-called “fishing places”: riffles, holes, banks overgrown with reeds and grass. Local and visiting fishermen enjoy hunting here for roach, bleak, pike, burbot, chub, gudgeon, perch and silver bream.

The river becomes covered with ice in December, and the ice remains here until March. Here they catch pike with a worm, and roach with a jig. However, it is worth noting that already in February the ice becomes quite fragile and it is already dangerous to go out on it. In the spring, roach is caught here on maggots and bloodworms, and pike are caught on spoons.

In summer you can look for minnows, roaches and chubs. However, it is not recommended to go fishing after rain because the water will be cloudy and high. In autumn, fishermen catch pike and chub with a fly rod. But spinners will have no luck here.

Eastern Berezina

This river flows through the territory of Belarus at a distance of 600 kilometers, after which it flows into the Dnieper River. Amateur and professional fishermen come here to catch perch, pike, roach, bream, crucian carp, tench, sabrefish, chub, catfish, white bream and silver bream. You can also catch especially valuable specimens of lamprey, asp, and fairly large pike perch.

In the spring, you can catch roach and chub using a feeder or a regular fishing rod, or use a catfish jig, but pike is caught much less often. In summer they hunt for pike.

In autumn, on the Eastern Berezina, the shores are favored by spinning anglers, catching quite large fish. And in winter you can catch perch on the first ice, and in the “dead winter” you can catch kilogram pikes.

Case

In winter, this river is covered with ice until April. At this time of year, white fish are actively caught on Sluchi. There are roaches and perch.

In the spring, the banks of the river are filled with spinning rods, they catch mainly with maggots and worms, and they pull out underbreeders. Also found are bleak, roach and carp. In the summer, you need to hunt for pike in the reeds, and you can also catch crucian carp, including golden ones. In autumn, pike and other predatory fish are caught from a boat using rubber.

Svislach

This river originates near the village of Vekshitsa, 40 kilometers from the Belarusian capital. The river also forms two reservoirs: Osipovichskoye and Zaslavskoye.

Fishermen come here for pike, bream, white bream, roach, silver bream, chub, perch, bleak, and ruff catfish. In the spring, spinners catch breams here with bloodworms, and they pull out quite large specimens. You can catch bleak, perch, roach and chub.

The most successful fishermen in the reservoirs pull out walleyes. In the summer, mainly in July, you can catch bream, bream, and during night hunting - even decent-sized catfish. In autumn, fishermen go to Svisloch for bream hiding in the numerous reeds off the coast, as well as for asp and perch. In winter you can catch pike.

Category: Minsk region

Even children fish in the Minsk region. Every third man considers fishing to be his main hobby, and as for the people who eat this fish, this is the entire population, with the exception of the strictest vegetarians. Well, how can you not fish if more than 450 rivers flow through the region over a distance of over 10 thousand km! Be sure to visit the largest lakes Naroch and Svir; for lovers of quiet fishing, there are 500 smaller reservoirs, plus 28 reservoirs are open for fishing.

Many fishermen in the Minsk region often talk about a new approach to finding a fishing spot. You understand that it is quite difficult to choose among so many rivers. You must first scatter rolled up notes on the table with the names: Vilia, Neman, Beaver, Moroch, Usa, Eastern Berezina, Sluch, Svisloch. Mix and take one. Wherever fate takes you is where you will end up. For example, the Neman River has more than a hundred tributaries and branches. In August there are constantly continuous complaints about the weather conditions, as well as about the drop in water level, but everyone who has been there at least once is delighted with the powerful performance of the asp. Fishing near Shchorsy gets a lot of positive feedback. The next equally rich river is Moroch. There is especially plenty to roam here in spring and summer, especially in late April – early May. Fans of the Smezhevsky Canal are also not silent; they constantly write laudatory reviews about this fishing place. Fishermen are especially active here in the winter season. Just before the ice, there is excellent spinning fishing.

The Minsk region is rich in lakes and reservoirs. For lake fishing, it is most recommended to go to Sergeevskoye. There are a lot of reports from there, and from them it is clear that every fisherman speaks about his business with great love and tenderness. On the Sergeevsky expanse, if you are not very lucky, you can try your luck on spills and in peat bogs. The next equally fishy day can be spent at the Vileika Reservoir, there are simply deposits of various fish there, and the nature around is simply a sight for sore eyes. Here you can relax and fish, everything is quiet and calm. The main thing is not to get caught up in free fishing, because now there is noisy camping there and there are moderate numbers of reckless people there. Don't forget that this place is connected to us with many family traditions. On the kukans there are the famous Vileika roach, white breams, and even pike perch among the most skilled ones.

Why did they start talking about paid fishing, because this can be said to be a child of urbanization. For a typical city dweller, it is familiar and pleasant to use the benefits for which he pays. It’s very simple, when you’ve paid for fishing, you go there with peace of mind. You know that the area will be tidied up, everything will be neat and pleasing to the eye. In other words, a payer gives you a sweet opportunity to rely not only on yourself and on nature.

In case of failure or bad mood, there is someone to blame. It is not uncommon to find praiseworthy reviews on the Internet about the paid ponds of the Volma fish farm. Let’s not pay attention to those pseudo-fishermen who attribute their failure to the fact that they “knocked out the reservoir” or “I won’t go until they stock it,” because in most reports there are large carps and respectable pikes. The same applies to the Shishchitsa paysite in the Slutsk region. Here you can catch large carp, and there is something to show your skill and ingenuity.

Don't forget about atmospheric pressure and wind. A fish always feels atmospheric pressure with the help of its swim bladder. If the pressure is high, the fish goes deeper or lies on the bottom. It’s simple, because increased pressure in our latitudes is brought by northern and northeastern winds, which means a weakening of the bite. With reduced activity of peaceful fish species, predators become more active. Therefore, the presence of gear for all types of fish living in the reservoir brings greater success to the fisherman.

Reservoirs and lakes

Lake Sergeevskoe

This reservoir is located in the Pukhovichi district of the Minsk region, approximately 25 kilometers from the village of Maryina Gorka. The lake got its name from the nearby rural settlement of Sergeevichi. Local residents otherwise call this body of water – Mukha.

The lake is relatively shallow - the maximum depth reaches only 2.6 meters. The reservoir has swampy shores; on both sides of the lake there are spills formed in peat pits, where you can also go fishing with great success.

Anglers flock to this lake primarily in search of pike. There is a lot of it here. They are also actively caught on

Sergeevsky reservoir the following types of fish:

  • perches;
  • lines;
  • rudd;
  • crucian carp;

A businessman who rents the area around the lake regularly stocks the lake with such interesting species of fish as:

  • silver carp;
  • Amur;
  • carp.

Stocking usually occurs in the spring, but fishing is prohibited at this time due to spawning. In summer, crucian carp and rudd are excellently caught using maggots, worms or regular barley. June is considered a particularly catchy month.

In autumn, fishermen use spinning rods and ordinary fishing rods to catch pike weighing two to three kilograms. But in winter, fishing here is questionable. According to reviews from local fishermen, the holes smell of rot, which is attributed to both dead algae and the death of the fish themselves.

However, the tenant tries to pump air under the ice cover in winter. Near the holes, where there is a greater amount of oxygen needed by the fish in winter, you can catch bream, rudd, and roach. Particularly lucky fishermen may be lucky in the form of a large pike - usually this predatory fish is found in the flood on the left side of the lake.

Vileika Reservoir

This largest artificial reservoir in the republic was created at one time in the river. Viliya in order to fill the waters of the Svisloch River, which in turn supplies water to the capital of Belarus - the city of Minsk.

Fishermen can find different depths here, which will provide varied and interesting fishing with any tackle. The Vileika Reservoir is distinguished by gently sloping banks on which forests grow.

According to fishermen, the fishing here is excellent. The best fish to catch here are:

  • crucian carp,
  • bream,
  • bream,
  • pike
  • perch
  • roach,
  • zander,
  • ruff,
  • bleak,
  • silver bream

You can start fishing even in the supposedly winter month of March; for successful fishing, use a nod. At the end of spring, bream and bream are well caught in the area of the dam on the feeder, although there is no end to fishermen at this time of year. In summer, using worms, maggots and barley, you can successfully catch roaches and breams in the reservoir. We fish on the feeder.

Autumn will delight fishermen not only with roach, but also with large-sized pike, pike perch, and bream. Moreover, according to reviews, the best bite is observed in October. And in winter, you can catch roaches or breams from the holes.
