Istra Reservoir
The Istra reservoir is located in the Moscow region on the Istra River . It is a favorite fishing spot for both Moscow residents and those who like to sit with a fishing rod and come from other regions.
It has good ecology, beautiful nature, and often has well-maintained sandy and rocky beaches.

Nudolsky Plyos
The town of Nudolsky Reach is located on the Istra Reservoir in its northwestern part. You can get here from Novorizhskoye or Volokolamsk highways, following the signs to the Tchaikovsky boarding house. True, there is no direct access to the reservoir itself; you will have to leave the iron horse in a nearby village or by the side of the road and walk along a path through the forest along the Nudol River.
According to experienced people, fishing in these places is quiet, calm, and there are no problems with the bite. Additional entertainment includes rental of ATVs and horses. The only kayaking route in these parts is also located here.
Nature of the Istra Reservoir basin
This reservoir is one of the largest in the entire Moscow region. It was organized in 1935 : it is about 22 km long, its width is not too large - 2 km at its widest point, the depth reaches 23 m. The total volume of the reservoir is about 183 million cubic meters.
Water from here is used to supply water to many areas of Moscow. Some time ago the reservoir was navigable.
The coastline is rugged, here you can find a large number of hills, fields, forests and so on. The winding shores form bays where you can find large schools of various fish; this is where, in most cases, fishermen sit when planning to engage in coastal fishing.
Ecology of the Istra Reservoir
The nature in the area is quite clean, beautiful and picturesque; the water in the reservoir is also clean. However, there are still problems associated with the environmental situation. The first of them is tourists, who arrive in larger numbers every year.
They do not always clean up after themselves, and traces of their presence pollute the shores, end up in the water, and begin to decompose there. As a result, the amount of oxygen in the water is steadily decreasing, which leads to the grinding of fish, lack of oxygen, and the spread of algae, which quickly begin to bloom .
Another problem is related to active development of the coastline. Most buildings are erected with a number of violations of the environmental plan; they, as a rule, do not have treatment facilities, and besides, the sewage system is discharged into this reservoir.
Fishing in the Moscow region on the Istra Reservoir
All fish species characteristic of the central zone of our country are found here.
These include the following:

- Zander;
- Pike;

- crucian carp;
- Silver carp and some others.
In the past, large numbers of Siberian sturgeon or sterlet were released into the waters of the reservoir, but for several years now not a single fact of catching such exotic fish for the Moscow region has been recorded.
Previously, there were no pike perch here: it was decided to introduce them here around the mid-60s of the last century. In addition, the Istra River itself, which feeds this reservoir, is more suitable for pike than for pike perch. However, today it has multiplied there quite actively.
Fishermen regularly catch such fish, especially if they are well informed about its sites. It is ideal for spinning, mugs and vertical lures, which are used mainly in winter.
Bream is found in the area of the flooded riverbed of the Istra, and quite large specimens are regularly caught, the size of which is about 5-6 kg.
If you have certain skills, you can even catch a catfish. However, today this is a great rarity, since this breed is on the verge of extinction here, this problem is connected with the difficult environmental situation, because the water is becoming increasingly polluted year after year.
Fishing here is allowed only if you have the appropriate permit. Along the banks there are a huge number of fishing bases, as well as recreation centers. There you can rent all the necessary equipment, purchase a ticket, rent accommodation for one or several nights, acquire a boat for the required time, and so on.
Winter fishing
The most catchable place used for fishing in winter is located in the area of bays and near the mouth of the Katysh River, which flows here from the right side. These areas are quite deep. If you stand along the riverbed, you can catch quite a large perch, roach, and sometimes pike.
Fish bite most actively in the Istra Reservoir towards the end of winter - in the second half of February and early March. At this time, water leaves the reservoir through the dam, a current appears in the Katysh River , bringing with it a sufficient amount of fresh water saturated with oxygen, this, in turn, attracts fish.
Recreation centers
Along the banks of the reservoir there are a large number of fishing bases equipped with everything necessary for comfortable fishing. Moreover, some of them provide the services of huntsmen who will help you catch fish and indicate the necessary place where it is located.
They usually have in their arsenal motor and rowing boats, all the necessary gear, and so on.
B/o "Forget-me-not"
It is located near the small town of Solnechnogorsk, which is located 35 kilometers from the ring road. The area occupied by this base is 7 hectares, all of which are located along the shore of the reservoir. Spruce and pine trees grow on the territory, under which you can find boletus and other noble mushrooms.
Open all year round. The base has two guest houses - large and small. Both of them are two-story: the small one can accommodate 12 people at a time, and the large one can accommodate up to 30 . They are equipped with all the necessary amenities: showers, saunas, spacious rooms, billiard rooms and small swimming pools.
For the summer season there are small wooden houses for four people. There is a well-maintained and well-equipped beach on site.
There is everything necessary for fishing in both summer and winter, including a boat station. Along the banks there are gazebos with barbecue areas.
Fishing base Tabolovo
The Tabolovo fishing base also features a system of natural and artificial reservoirs. The head reservoir covers an area of 130 hectares. Its territory is surrounded by mixed forest, although you can approach the shore at any point on the coastline. Carp, crucian carp, roach, pike, grass carp and other fish are bred here.
On the largest body of water it is allowed to fish all year round without restrictions, on small ones, the so-called. in feeding reservoirs the limit is 8-12 kg, and the season lasts from May to mid-October. You can fish both from the shore and from a boat. It is possible to rent a two-story cottage for 9,000 rubles per day. On the territory of the base there is a grocery store and a bathhouse.
By the way, you can safely go here for a vacation with the whole family. The subscription fee is taken only from the fisherman; children under 14 years of age and women can rest for free. The base's management also treats WWII veterans with respect; they are given the right to free fishing.

How to get to the Istra Reservoir?
There are a lot of options to get to this reservoir: everyone chooses the most convenient for themselves. One of the shortest routes is the following, especially if you need to travel from Moscow: take the Volokolamskoye Highway and follow it all the way to Istra.
After this, you need to turn off and head to the New Jerusalem Monastery, from which you turn towards the village of Buzharovo. The reservoir will be located along this road. On its shore there are many places where you can park your car.
If you don’t have a car, you can get there using public transport. The easiest way to do this is by train: they sit near the Dimitrovskaya, Voykovskaya metro stations and also head in the Volokolamsk direction. You need to get off at Istra station . From the station there is a bus to the village of Lamishino.
Having reached this settlement, they walk about three hundred meters along a dirt road, on the right side of which the shore of the reservoir will be located.
There is another way to get there: by train you get to Podsolnechnaya station, from there a regular bus can take you to the village of Yakimanka, where fishing vouchers are sold and boats are rented, where you can fish all day.
Directions to the recreation area near the village of Trusovo
This place is one of the closest to Moscow, which can be reached independently by car or using public transport. By car you need to go along Pyatnitskoye Highway, which goes through a rather picturesque forest, but has only one lane, which reduces the speed of the traffic flowing along it.
From the ring road you exit onto highway A 107 , along which you travel all the way to the village of Sokolovo. From there you turn left and drive about one kilometer to the parking lot. To get to the beach, you should go down to the water a little to the right relative to the parking lot.
Directions to the recreation area near the village of Lyshchevo
This section is the cleanest in the entire reservoir, and it is also located in a picturesque place where the Nudol River flows into it. You need to drive along the Volokolamsk Highway - first to the city of Istra. In it you will have to make your way along Moskovskaya, Pervomaiskaya and Sovetskaya streets.
As a result, you will be able to get to a T-shaped intersection , at which you will have to turn towards the village of Buzharovo. They travel along it through the villages of Sinevo and Nikitskoye. Having driven through the turn to Lyshchevo, you can see the fence enclosing this recreation area. It is very close to the water - no more than ten meters.

- We decided to go fishing with friends . The choice fell on the “Forest House” camp site, located in the southern part of the Istra Reservoir. Very good service: large parking, cozy and warm houses. We immediately rented a boat and a barbecue. The fish bite very intensely, so you immediately dive into the activity with your head. Returning to the shore, the entire catch was immediately baked on coals. This weekend turned out to be the best in the last few years, we plan to go fishing there again after a while (Vladislav, 41 years old);
- Tired of sitting in the city , we decided to go with my wife and children to nature. The Electron base, which is located on Pyatnitskoye Highway on the coast of the Istra Reservoir, is located very conveniently, and it won’t take too long to get there. I took fishing rods and everything I needed with me, I didn’t rent a boat - I managed to do some good fishing from the shore. The catch was immediately handed over to my wife, she sent the fish to the fire, and it turned out to be a rather fresh and unusual dinner. - I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of nature at the Istra Reservoir. I’m not a fisherman myself, but I really like to wander through the forests, barbecue and spend time in the fresh air. I thought about renting a tent, but the weather conditions didn’t allow it, so I had to rent a room in a house. It is very warm and comfortable there, everything you need is literally at hand. Winter
Most anglers prefer the winter season. The peculiarities of winter fishing include the choice of absolutely any place. Most often you can catch pike, perch, and ide. They are caught using jigs or winter fishing rods, and worms, bloodworms or artificial baits are recommended as bait.
Spring
In spring, fishing is done on the remaining ice or from the banks. During this period, carp, pike perch, pike or chub bite well. For fishing you will need a fishing rod with a float, worms and small fish. Predatory fish bite on the latter type of bait. Roach and bleak respond especially well to a float rod. Worms, maggots, dough or corn are used as bait.
Fishermen consider spring an excellent period, since large specimens often bite. Sometimes trout are caught, especially in April. It is also worth noting that in summer peaceful fish are most active. For catching, it is recommended to use feeders and various baits. This can be either flour or porridge made from pearl barley or breadcrumbs, or bulk bait purchased in a specialized store. For bait, you can use maggots, dung worms, a sandwich of these two baits, or corn.

During the hot period, starting from mid-June, roach or large bream bite well on plant-type baits. Catfish, eel and ide are also excellently caught during this period.

This society has a boat fleet consisting of 355 boats, issued to fishermen upon presentation of special vouchers purchased at the district departments of this society. In addition, there is also a small hotel in the same place. It is near this village that the summer catch is always rich. Fishermen can catch a lot of peaceful fish and relax with their family.
Autumn
In autumn, the most active zhor is observed, associated with the previous cold weather. During this period, pike, perch and chub bite well. But most often, fishermen note the active biting of predatory individuals; for this they use wobblers and silicone baits.
