The lake is located in the Klepikovsky district, 100 kilometers from Ryazan. The lake is the largest in the Klepikovsky lakes complex. The lake covers an area of approximately 20.4 km, the approximate dimensions of the reservoir are 10 by 4.5 km, and the length of the coastline is about 34 km.
The lake connects two rivers, at the entrance the Vozha River, at the exit with Lake Shagara and through canals with Lake Beloye. There are several small and one large island (Beryozovy) on the lake. The banks are swampy and overgrown with grass.
The origin of the lake is thermokarst, its formation is about 10,000 years old.
On the territory near the village of Prudki there is the Meshchersky state reserve.

Did the space guest leave a mark on Ryazan land?
It would seem that in our time every piece of Earth has been explored, especially in close proximity to civilization, for example, in Central Russia. However, there are cases when discoveries are made where, it would seem, everything has been known for a long time. The same incident happened to us.
A typical lake with atypical features
The Ryazan region is rich in lakes. Moreover, they come in different types. Flood lakes (oxbow lakes) are located along the beds of large rivers, for example, Oka and Moksha; a typical representative of this type is Lake Orekhovoye in Ryazan.
Where can you go fishing for free?
Unfortunately, today it is very difficult to find a water area where staying would not only be fruitful, but also free. Fortunately, such places still exist:
Rivers
The Ryazan region is largely filled with rivers of short length, which, by the way, does not at all affect the high level of fishing and the wonderful fish bite:
- Tsna is a river that has high vegetation in the form of algae and reeds, in which, in turn, especially in summer, perch, rudd and crucian carp hide from the heat;
- The Polka is a fairly small river (18 kilometers), the condition of which, in an ecological sense, has improved. Perhaps this is why more fishermen appeared on its shores, eager to catch catfish or a rare inhabitant of this region, the rotan goby;
- Yalma - this 34-kilometer-long river is inhabited by freshwater “residents” such as pike, perch, crucian carp and bream. It is recommended to fish here from a boat, supposedly this increases the fisherman’s chances of returning home with “prey”;
Lakes and ponds
This region, which borders the capital of the Russian Federation, is filled with a lot of artificial reservoirs, which, again, can be paid or not.
Now, to the reader’s attention, there is a range of ponds and lakes, visiting and fishing on which is a free pleasure:
- Beloe is a lake located in the Klepikovsky district, not far from the border with the Moscow region. The depth of this water area reaches 5 meters, it is inhabited by fish such as pike, gudgeon and crucian carp;
- Velikoye is a body of water, the name of which does not indicate that it is really large. This fishing “place” is located near the village of Spas-Klepiki. The waters of the lake are filled with a very large number of a wide variety of fish: roach, ide, perch, crucian carp, tench, pike, ruffe, blue bream, Amur sleeper goby, verkhovka;
- Orekhovoye - this reservoir can, in principle, easily be called a swimming area, because it is equipped from many sides by the local authorities “as a beach”. Despite this fact, by boat, for example, you can do some good fishing here, because the fresh waters of the lake are filled with such “inhabitants” as tench, ide, roach and perch;
Fishing on the Great Lake=»on»>
The reservoir is most often visited for fishing, because roach, pike, perch, crucian carp, silver bream, bream, pike perch, saberfish, rudd, ide, ruffe and other types of fish are found here. Fishermen often come from the Moscow and Vladimirov regions. Mostly perch and pike are caught. The weight of the specimens is small, this should be taken into account right away; pike usually reaches 500–1000 grams, occasionally 2 kg, other species are even smaller.
Current winter and summer fishing on the Great Lake. Some fishermen stay overnight in tents; the terrain is favorable. In winter, you need to drill the ice extremely slowly so as not to throw out dirt, and lower the live bait only 5–7 cm below the edge of the hole.
Experienced fishermen claim that there are fish kills on the lake; the fish here are quite small, although they can be caught well if you get used to it. So in a couple of hours you can secure a catch of 5 kg. A special feature of fishing on this lake is the careful selection of bait and bait. To catch pike you will need tackle without leashes.
The bite is usually good for crucian carp, ruffe, and gudgeon; if there is no bite for two hours, you should choose another place. Typically 30–40 flags provide a catch of 15–20 pike.
Fishing and relaxation on the lake
The following types of fish are caught on the lake:
Pike, perch, ide, roach, silver bream, tench and crucian carp, loaches, bluegill and verkhovka are also found.
The bottom is muddy.
Due to the everywhere overgrown and swampy shores, fishing from the shore is problematic, so the main fishing takes place on a boat with a spinning rod. Lures for fishing with a spinning rod are standard rotating and oscillating spoons, wobblers, and a popper works well in the fall. The average weight of baits is 10-12 grams.

In the spring, pike and perch stand at the entrance of the Pra River, since fish enter the lake from there; in the summer, they stand and feed near the shore; in the fall, they are distributed throughout the reservoir, looking for places to winter.
There are no trophy pike; the average weight of one specimen reaches 1-5 kg.
It is practically impossible to organize a tent holiday on the lake due to the lack of normal shores, therefore, as an option, use the territory of tourist centers for recreation.
Paid fishing in the Ryazan region

“Catch fish big and small” - this saying could be applied to all paid fishing spots, because when visiting them, you can really catch fish of any size, width, length and weight, and it’s guaranteed.
Perhaps this is the advantage of such private lakes and ponds, since for a fisherman there can be nothing better than going fishing, knowing in advance that the result will be positive and bear fruit in the form of a catch.

Turning from the P-132 highway onto the Yegoryevskoye Highway in Tuma will take you (through the villages of Kobylinki and Seleznevo) to Spas-Klepiki.

Lake Velikoye is an uneven body of water with rugged shores, surrounded by steppes and forests. Most of the shore is covered with reeds. However, due to the sandy soil, there are comfortable descents to the water.
The area reaches 20.7 km², and the length is 6 km. This is a fairly deep-water lake, the maximum depth of which is 5 meters.
There are eight islands on it, including large ones named Sosnovka and Berezovy, and there are also small islands covered with reeds.
The lake is surrounded by pine, birch and deciduous forests, representing a picturesque object not far from infrastructure, however, retaining its wild, uninhabited appearance.
Flora and fauna
The nature of the Klepikovsky lakes is very rich in various types of herbs, including those listed in the Red Book: grass bramble, common bluegrass, Zalessky feather grass, pinnate grass, sedge, lily of the saranka, yellowing onion and others, about 1000 plants in total. Here you can find hare and brown hares, wild boars, wolves, foxes, red deer, hedgehogs, squirrels, muskrats, weasels, ermines, muskrats, ducks, swans, quails, geese, wood grouse, owls, black grouse, woodcocks and other animals and birds.
There are a lot of fish in the lake: bream, crucian carp, tench, pike, rudd, perch, ide, bluefish, sabrefish, ruffe, roach, pike perch, and silver bream. Nearby in the forest grow mushrooms, including edible ones: boletus, boletus, boletus, boletus, russula, milk mushrooms and others.
Climate

Lake Velikoe . This is the largest lake in the Klepikovsky district and the Ryazan region, fully justifying its name. Its area is 2199.7 hectares. Numerous backwaters, vast expanses of open water, rich vegetation and islands make it unlike other, smaller lakes. The lake belongs to the Klepikovsky lakes (Meshcherskoye lake ring).
And although the lake’s coastline stretches for 34 kilometers, there are few human settlements on its shores. These are still completely pristine and wild places, a kingdom of reeds and reeds, replete with impassable wilds and windbreaks, marshy swamps. Only six villages are located at some distance from its shores: Barskoe, Ush-mor, Koryakine, Tranovo, Chesnokovo and Charsul. The village of Zimnitsa, located behind the vast Shiri swamp, is 2.5 kilometers away from the lake.
There are eight islands on the lake. The largest are Berezovy and Sosnovka. Many small reed walls of impenetrable forests are scattered throughout the huge backwaters. Only the southern shores are more populated and accessible. In the northeast, the small beautiful river Vozha flows into the shallow Prudkovskaya backwater. In addition to Vozha, seventeen more reclamation ditches flow into the lake, although some of them are already fairly overgrown and dry up in the summer. With the onset of freeze-up, the fish stay at the mouths of these ditches and enter them for clear water.
Near the village of Koryakine, the Koryakinskaya river of the same name connects Lake Velikoye with neighboring Bely and is an important migration route that replenishes the waters of Lake Bely with fish. The largest concentration of fishing enthusiasts occurs on the lake in winter, when all corners of the lake become accessible.
The access road to the lake turns off the Spas-Klepiki-Moscow highway beyond the village of Batykovo at the sign “Rainbow”, passes the shore of Lake Beloye and the holiday village near the village of Lunkino. There is a dry sandy beach with a parking area for vehicles.
On the first ice, large perch and numerous ruff are caught well with a jig. Depending on the water level in the lake, in the fall, during the winter months, the perch disperses to its favorite places with underwater vegetation, near the edge of reed islands with sand spits outcropping. After noisy battles on the ice, the overexposed and disturbed perch moves somewhat to the side, but with time of calm it returns to its former sites. Searching for concentrations of perch in such vast areas is not an easy task, and the long-awaited encounters with mass fish are all the more pleasant.
The strong siltation of the lake bottom, and the layers of sapropel here go 14 meters deep, attracts numerous ruff, which sometimes stubbornly interferes with perch fishing.
Often roach catches the jig, less often - bream and roach, although they are present in sufficient quantities in the lake.
With a jig reinforced with a large hook and equipped with a white fry, on some favorable days small and medium-sized bee-eater can be caught well, and during thaws in the first weeks of March, large pike can be caught. It is also caught in winter with white crucian carp, roach and roach. Local fishermen use rough summer fishing rods, lowered under the ice and equipped with strong nylon cords and impressive tees, to catch serious pike on large loach at a distance from the shore.
Holidays on the Klepikovsky Lakes
These places were chosen by adherents of “wild” recreation. There are indeed quite a few campsites and parking lots on the shores of the lake system. Again, use of the national park sites is paid. Thus, the provision of an equipped recreation area with a parking space is 25 rubles per hour per person, a recreation area is 120 rubles per day per person.
Some reservoirs are suitable for swimming . For example, there is a good beach on the shores of White Lake. But you can only approach this reservoir from the southern and western sides; in other parts the coastline is surrounded by country houses. This circumstance does not in any way affect the number of vacationers, including diving and freediving enthusiasts (thanks to the 50-meter depth).
The banks of many reservoirs are swampy and overgrown with duckweed, reeds and sedge in summer. Swimming in such places, as you yourself understand, is not very pleasant. But in the fall you can harvest a rich harvest of cranberries and lingonberries here.
Fans of kayaking will certainly enjoy the Klepikovsky Lakes . Some choose the Buzhu River from Tasino station as the starting point of the water route, then follow through lakes Svyatoe and Dubovoe to the source of the Pra River. Kayakers often use small islands called “Oak” and “Beryozovy” on Lake Svyatoe as a parking lot.

Good day everyone!
Finally, the first trip to Lake Velikoye near Tver this year took place.
The training camp on Friday was for some reason sluggish and without enthusiasm, there were two main reasons for this. Friends said that there is no need to take a snowflake, we are going to the ATO to the place - there is not enough snow, the ice is 45 cm and all cars go along the winter road and the lake to the place. I immediately realized that the lake would be like Red Square... this happens extremely rarely and the place loses its alluring inaccessibility and taiga quality. The second reason is that I received a message from Anatolyevich that he was having troubles with his sheep and couldn’t go. But these reasons were not enough to cancel my trip and I decided to go alone, in a low mood. I got to the winter road, where my Tver friends were waiting for me in a loaf of bread and a Lada hatchback! I realized that things were in trouble, but in unison we continued to move towards the alluring lake. There has never been such a road on a winter road in my memory since 2005, when I first appeared there, halfway at a speed of 60 km! We got to the place where the girders were set up without incident - about 7 km from the exit onto the ice - we accepted the “oncoming” people began to set up, there were six of us, counted around approximately 40! car headlights, although everyone was at a distance of minutes from us. 500-700 meters and huddled close to the reeds, we, knowing the February “specifics” of the lake, were 700 meters from the nearest shore and were exposed into the lake perpendicular to the shore... Out of habit, I placed the first perch at the “wheel”... friends together began to occupy promising places... I helped an older comrade - drilled 11 holes for him with a shura and went to set up his own in a free place along the lake, perpendicular and behind the lines of friends... When I set up, I saw a flag by the car... five minutes of struggle and in my hands the unbent clasp of a fucking “Kontaktov” leash for 7 or 8kg, which I equipped with 2! zherlitsy before the rally on the pond, knowing that there is little chance of monsters biting there. Immediately a thought - where is the second one? The second flag after 5-7 minutes and a torn leash indicated the place where... 10 minutes carefully! I tried to lead you to the hole and had a break in the leash at the place where the lock was installed... I have never had such “whoredom”... and then the first two bites are on you... I immediately accepted the double stopper of the whiskey and decided to deliver two girders, instead of the lost ones!
In min. The 20th third flag was ten meters from the car, I was far from it and asked a friend standing by the car to check, his cry demanded my quick presence with a hook... Our struggle lasted min. 15-20... on the sixth try we were led into the hole, a friend insisted on taking it with his hand, he always does this - the result is a cut on his hand and he let go of the pike, but it didn’t come off! Once again he led her into the hole and now only the hook! Eat!!! She's on ice!!! looks like 8-10 kg...opinions differ, the scales are in the snow at home...They healed a friend’s hand and for the “shot down”!!! My mood has improved significantly! Friends started getting bites. By the end of the day, everyone had a piece. 4-5 each, but not large, from 1.5 to 4 kg. We waited until all the closest neighbors had left and went to spend the night in a “kung” standing on the shore of White Lake.
A friendly dinner with barbecue and mashlyk in a warm carriage with a gas stove, light and stove dragged on until closer to midnight, and at that time the vents kept a combat watch. In the morning we were surprised by a small number of flags - several times less than usual, but friends still took a couple of pikes, I had one. The bite slowly began to improve with dawn, and by lunchtime the “lake owner” gave one of his friends the same mother, they fiddled around for about twenty minutes, his hole, unlike mine, was 130mm. and she stubbornly did not want to go into it, but the right hook left her no chance... Then a friend got a pike for three, swallowed two! live bait from neighboring girders at a distance of 10m!!! We had to tinker, pulled out the pike, and then the girder appeared! For the first time we saw the swallowing of two live bait! By one o'clock in the afternoon they summed up the results and began to remove the girders. Everyone has more than a dozen pikes from 1.5 kg, several under 3-4 kg... The weather is super, light snow and a light breeze. The road home did not bring any problems or adventures, fishing and, most importantly, relaxation in a quiet, remote place took place and old, trusted friends were nearby! Thank you Lake Velikoye, everyone wants and is ready to return to your open spaces... even tomorrow. We need to work a little... not the boyars!
