The best recipes for preparing bait for carp at home

Advantages of using homemade bait

Many carp anglers make their own bait for carp. Homemade bait mixtures have a number of advantages over purchased options:

  • the fisherman always knows what is included in the mixture and is absolutely confident in the freshness of all components;
  • it becomes possible to select a composition that works on any type of reservoir at different times of the year;
  • Having learned to independently select the components, the fisherman can adjust the composition of the mixture depending on the preferences of the fish at the time of fishing;
  • homemade bait will cost 1.5–2 times less than a purchased product;
  • a fisherman can create a bait recipe that will be ideal for a particular body of water;
  • A carp angler can experiment not only with the color and aroma of the bait, but also with its taste.

In addition, the cooking process itself is very exciting and arouses interest among most carp anglers. Properly made bait for carp at home will allow the fisherman to attract the maximum number of fish to the fishing point.

Attractants for carp bait

Flavorings for carp, as well as for other types of cold-blooded inhabitants, depending on the form and purpose, can be divided into:

Photo 3. Sunflower oil is the favorite smell of carp fish.

As already noted, this classification is conditional, and the names of flavors have a general meaning.

Constant experiments allow you to choose the ideal attractant for a specific situation - a reservoir, time of year, fish.

We confidently recommend it and, in fact, sour pear is not only a favorite of this season, but also a favorite as an addition to any sinking boilie. It has high buoyancy, bright color and does not lose its taste for a long time!

Favorite #1 – Acid Pear

Our very favorite sour pear. We have a lot of happy moments associated with this pop-up. We always combine floating and sinking boilies because it makes it easier for the bait to get into the fish's mouth. Orange color is one of the priorities for the reservoirs of our country, and CCMoore Acid Pear is simply the TOP attachment for carp fishing for us.

[THERE IS AN ANSWER] How to lure crucian carp to the fishing spot in the summer?

We confidently recommend it and, in fact, sour pear is not only a favorite of this season, but also a favorite as an addition to any sinking boilie. It has high buoyancy, bright color and does not lose its taste for a long time!

Favorite #2 – Citrus Zest

You could say this is a new item in our arsenal. The structure is in no way inferior to sour pear, since this is one of the Elite Range series from CCMoore. They have a light yellow tint and go well with boilies such as Richwroth Tutti Frutti, CCMoore Tangerine Juice, Starbaits Hot Demon. You can use them in any combination, we just listed those that we tried and the result was always very good.

Favorite #3 – Hot Demon Fluoro

The jar contains white and pink boilies. It was white 10mm pop-ups that worked perfectly for us, the halves of which we attached to sinking boilies. It's worth noting that we prefer to use small nozzles. 12-14mm. We connect it to the pop-up and cut it off. It turns out to be a kind of “dumbell”. On one of our fishing trips, Hot Demon simply blew up his swim, and we used it with a variety of fruit recipes.

White works very well at night because it is more visible to fish when there is a lack of natural light. Although pink pop-ups cannot be written off. But according to the stories of some of our familiar fishermen, in their practice the pink color often works, even on fairly large fish.

Favorite #4 – CCMoore Mini Bitez

Small floating boilies Mini Bitez, of which there are a huge number of different colors. Their peculiarity is that they have no taste. You can dip them with whatever flavor you need. In order for it to dissipate, just leave the jar open for a couple of days. We have already written an article about using Mini Bitez. It tells many of the subtleties about catching large carp with small baits. Read here.

These little pop-ups expand the range of your attachments with just one purchased jar. This will be especially good for beginners. You immediately buy all the necessary colors, including black (!). By sorting through them in the bait, you can always see how many fish were biting the most on one color or another. And in the future you will have a clear idea of what exactly the carp likes.

Honey.

Another main smell for warm water.
Drops, sprays and dips based on the aroma of honey can be used virtually all year round, both independently and in combination with other aromas. Caramel.
Used less frequently, but not rarely indicates extremely superior effectiveness. Caramel is often used to flavor baits.

Hemp.

Without this aroma, almost everyone thinks, the carp “does not want to eat.” Both hemp grains and extracts are used. For most fishermen, this smell is the main one in both the bait and the bait. It is advisable to use it all year round.

Garlic.

Works great when combined with other scents. There are no limits to imagination with all this. Garlic + peach? – please; Garlic + honey + vanilla, also excellent. Here is experience and more experience.

This is definitely not the case with many scents that are used when fishing for carp, but this is the base. Using only them, you can significantly increase your chances of catching carp. Odors for carp in cool water (temperature less than 10 degrees).

General requirements for bait

Carp is a rather cautious and finicky fish, which is easily scared off not only by careless behavior on the shore, but also by poor-quality bait mixture. If the carp does not like the bait thrown into the water, then it will immediately leave the feeding point. The fisherman must take seriously all stages of preparing bait for carp, from the purchase of bait components to the stage of moistening the mixture.

How to make bait for carp at home

There are a variety of recipes for preparing carp bait with your own hands at home. However, the first thing to note is the following:

  • Most bait options for carp are prepared on the basis of cereal and grain ingredients. This can be corn, peas, wheat, oats and many others. etc. Various porridges are also actively used to create bait.
  • The bait must be flavored. A bright, natural and at the same time unusual smell is the main criterion for the attractiveness of the bait. You can use both fishing attractants, dips, boosters, and other liquids, as well as various ingredients that are available for sale in any grocery store - honey, garlic, dill, flavored oil, vanilla, confectionery, etc.
  • Another simple rule is that carp bait must contain finely dispersed components. Their function is not only to “dust”, creating a turbidity from food particles in the water that is attractive to fish. The fine fraction prevents the carp from getting enough, stimulating its appetite and increasing the number of bites. In addition, many finely dispersed components have a “gluing” effect, which allows you to make more viscous and long-lasting bait.

Usually the composition of baits includes cereals

  • It is strongly recommended to add components similar to baits to carp bait. Thus, not only an attractive bait table is created, but the bait itself ceases to look suspicious to the fish. Because if there is a lonely bait in the form of maggots lying on the bottom, while all the complementary food is made on a grain basis, then it is unlikely that the cautious carp will please you with a bite. Thus, the composition of the bait to some extent depends on the bait.
  • Also, in many reservoirs (especially those intended for paid fishing), carp can be perfectly caught using boilies. In this case, this attachment should be added to the bait. True, if the boilies are large or the feeding activity of the fish is low, then it is best to grind these balls. For these purposes, you can even find a special boiler cutter on sale.

Aroma

Thanks to the increased sensitivity of smell, carp can smell bait thrown into the water a hundred meters away. The bait can have its own aroma or be additionally enhanced by flavoring substances, which are available in dry and liquid form. Powdered activators are added directly to the bulk composition, and liquid flavors are diluted in the water on which the bait is mixed.

Important! After adding flavorings, the mixture should acquire a pronounced, but not pungent odor, which will scare away rather than attract carp.

Compound

The composition of carp bait can include both plant and animal components. In warm water, the main part of the bait consists of plant components, in cold water - animal components.

Corn meal is often used as the basis for bait

When selecting the composition, you should focus not only on the taste preferences of the fish, but also on what kind of bait will be used on the carp. The following can serve as a plant base:

  • breadcrumbs;
  • corn grits;
  • oatmeal (ground oatmeal);
  • wheat or rye bran;
  • hemp seeds;
  • boiled cereals;
  • cereals;
  • boilies and pellets of vegetable origin.

Breadcrumbs are a universal base that can be used when fishing with all types of vegetable baits. If the base is corn grits, then canned corn is used as a nozzle. Boilies and pellets form the basis of the bait mixture when fishing is carried out with similar baits. It is advisable to mix bait with oatmeal and bran if the angler uses dough containing these components as bait when fishing for carp.

Animal components are added to the bait at low water temperatures. In spring, the composition should include chopped worms and maggots. In autumn and winter, bloodworms should be present in the bait.

Carp flavors

Vanilla

Fruit aromas

The main fruity smell that attracts carp is

  • strawberry,
  • a pineapple,
  • peach,
  • plum,
  • banana,
  • Tutti Frutti,
  • all sorts of mixtures of them.

On store shelves you can see exotic fruity flavors, but there are more than enough of them. And by mixing them together, new working aromas appear.

Caramel

It is not used very often, but always shows excellent results. Caramel aroma is more often used to flavor bait.

Also a catchy scent for fishing in the warm season. Honey drops, dips and sprays can be used throughout the open water fishing season, either alone or in combination with other scents attractive to carp.

Hemp

Most fishermen are sure that without the hemp flavor, the carp does not want to eat at all. The seeds of this plant, its oil, and other extracts are used in fishing. Used in bait and for flavoring bait. Can be used throughout the year.

Garlic

Works great when mixed with other scents. There is no limit to the fisherman's imagination: Garlic and peach, garlic with vanilla and honey, garlic and hemp. There can be any number of options. Here you should rely on fishing experience and instinct.

Naturally, these are not all the flavor options that attract carp, but the ones mentioned are the basis. And using only these in carp fishing, you can significantly increase your carp catches.

Next, after vanilla, in terms of popularity of use comes a group of popular fruit aromas. The main ones for a spoiled carp will be: peach, strawberry, pineapple, plum, banana. In addition, this should include tutti - frutti, as well as various mixtures between them.

  • All the same, no matter how tasty and attractive our bait or groundbait is, nevertheless, sooner or perhaps later, the question will arise that it is still necessary to add flavoring.

    Moreover, in recent years, in addition to the classic standard ones, namely food ones, so-called special fishing attractants have been added, and by the way, without them, many professional fishermen simply no longer go fishing. Therefore, today we will discuss what needs to be used to further attract carp.

    Often it is in a liquid state, so the powder is used much less often, because it will have to be diluted in water in advance, by the way with different concentrations. You should know that they need to be added to the bait, but many anglers prefer to soak it.

    For example, the same boilies, or corn in the same flavoring, and using your own method can even influence the bite. Moreover, as for dips, they are added to bait. In general, to put it simply, the main difference between boosters, flavoring, oil, dips, liquids, sprays, and our attractants is considered very conditional.

    [THERE IS AN ANSWER] In what wind does fish bite better in summer?

    So, some people like to spray on the hook, while others want to spray on the bait. Although this is good, because the angler has a chance to influence the bite with his choice.

    However, I will still separate these supplements according to their intended purpose and use.

    1. Dips and sprays are widely used for attachment.

    2. Oil, flavoring, booster are chosen for bait.

    3. Liquid and attractant are often used at a certain stage in the production of paste or boilies.

    Although, I repeat again, this definition is still very conditional. After all, experienced fishermen sometimes do not listen to instructions, and relying on the years of fishing they have experienced, they choose the right smell for carp or any other fish at their own discretion.

    And at the same time they use not only all kinds of aromas, plus smell, but also make various mixtures by carefully mixing the aromas with each other.

    Of course, it is worth knowing that there is no best dip or flavoring in the world that will work everywhere and under any conditions and circumstances. After all, for a certain time of year, as well as for a specific fishing area (reservoir, river, lake), you will have to sweat until you find the right scent.

    Because among the attractants there is a huge variety of odors that is truly amazing. Of course, these odors will not always be pleasant for humans, but for fish. It's a completely different matter.

    The main thing is, when fishing on the same body of water, choose your own working scent, then this will increase the effectiveness of your bait, as well as the bait, by about a quarter, and, I’m sure, no more. Because, as in the case when the carp lay on the bottom and began to go on strike, then even the “stinkers” will not help here.

    Often, after all sorts of trial and error, amateur fishermen prefer several scents or even mixtures that they use from spring until autumn. Moreover, the manufacturer is not at all important here, although this is exactly what the so-called professional fishermen are strenuously trying to convince us of, who, of course, work for various companies, and therefore are called upon to advertise their products, presenting them as the best and highest quality.

    Although, today, the choice among attractants is simply huge, so even for the most modest price, you can choose an attractant or dip, etc., of course, I’m not talking about outright cheapness. You, just buy and try, avoiding loud advertising, like: “Buy only our super stinkers and then the fish will not escape you.” So, let's look at modern smells that are widely used for carp fishing. I will also give you a couple of examples of carp scents used by people.

    The first thing that comes to mind is vanilla. After all, this is one of the favorite scents of not only cunning carp, but also smart bream, ram, roach or ide. It is a typical summer scent. It is used from spring until the onset of cold weather.

    Its popularity is primarily based on its pleasant, unusual aroma. According to many fishermen, fish simply cannot help but like such a wonderful smell. Therefore, a 30-gram bag of vanillin, which goes on average per kilo of bait, is poured into the bait with great pleasure, but sprays and drops are sprinkled onto the bait itself, while keeping it in vanilla dips.

    Therefore, recently a lot of vanilla flavors have appeared that are based on vanilla, namely: honey + vanilla, strawberry + vanilla, pineapple + vanilla, and many others. etc.

    However, due to the constant use of this bait among many anglers, this smell will not always play into the effectiveness of the bait or bait. Especially if a large group of fishermen gathers in some not very large area of the reservoir.

    Next, after vanilla, in terms of popularity of use comes a group of popular fruit aromas. The main ones for a spoiled carp will be: peach, strawberry, pineapple, plum, banana. In addition, this should include tutti - frutti, as well as various mixtures between them.

    Of course, we also have very exotic fruity scents, although in my opinion the above are quite sufficient. Moreover, when mixing them together, you can also get an excellent additional tasty smell that is appetizing to the fish.

    But honey is one of the aromas that is suitable for warm water. Therefore, dips, sprays and drops, which are based on the smell of aromatic honey, can be safely used almost all year round, and not only on their own, but also in combination with other equally popular scents.

    Caramel is used much less often, although it is quite possible that due to this, it shows quite high efficiency. Caramel is often used to flavor attachments. But hemp is not the last on the list of pleasant delicacies for carp.

    Many fishermen think that without it, the carp does not want to eat at all. Both hemp seeds and extracts are used. Therefore, for almost all fishermen this aroma is the main one not only in the bait, but also in the groundbait. So it is advisable to use it all year round. And the same garlic works well when combined with other smells, so there is no limit to your imagination.

    So, garlic plus peach - bon appetit, vanilla plus honey, plus garlic - you are also welcome, try it. In this matter, the main thing you need is experience, experience and more experience. Of course, these are not all the aromas used when fishing for carp, but garlic is primarily its basis.

    Smells for carp fishing in cold water, where the water temperature is less than 10 degrees.

    Late fall fishing is widespread in the West. But here, thanks to standard summer gear, this will be possible, except perhaps in the southern regions of the country. And of course, during this period, white fish or predators are best caught. But carp in cold water prefer the enticing aroma of shrimp, shells, crab; in addition, hemp and garlic work well.

    Yes, and in the cool season you need to use flavors carefully. Plus, when the water is cold, it’s better not to report it than to report an extra smell. Today, there are a lot of translated articles on the Internet on the topic of carp fishing. So, in Europe this fishing is considered the first number for any angler.

    Moreover, carp fishing belongs to a separate branch for fishing science and industry. And the basic tastes and main preferences of this fish have already been studied almost thoroughly, although new taste preferences are still being discovered.

    Well, and the smells that are used in bait. Therefore, in the case when you just want to learn how to catch, then the above smells will be enough for you. Besides this, don’t waste your money on the same algae extracts, lobster extracts, or any other super hyped scents.

    Of course, no one argues, they also work, however, in amateur fishing it is quite possible to do without them. Just find a few good scents or blends and then start using them.

    Indeed, in practice, it very often happens that after going through many new stinks or mixtures, the fisherman at some point confidently understands that they are no better than the old proven effective aromas, and therefore returns to them anyway.

    For winter fishing, the following flavorings are added to the bait:

Humidity

By changing the humidity of the bait, you can regulate the decay time of the bait balls after they are thrown into the water. If we are talking about fishing in shallow water, then the moisture should be minimal, but at the same time sufficient to form a bait ball. By adding a minimal amount of water, the mixture becomes light and crumbly. When splashing down, light balls will not create much noise and will not scare fish feeding in shallow water.

When fishing is carried out at a depth of more than 2 meters, the degree of moisture should be medium. Moderately moistened balls will disintegrate in the bottom layers and will not attract small fish that live in the upper layers of water to the feeding area.

The bait with a high degree of moisture is used during the current. Heavily moistened balls reach the bottom faster and are washed out more slowly by the river flow, which allows you to keep fish in the fishing zone longer.

The humidity of the bait mixture must be constantly monitored. In hot, dry weather, the carp bait will dry out and the fisherman will have to add water to it. On the contrary, in damp, rainy weather, the bait should be hidden from moisture in order to prevent its excessive waterlogging.

Bait for carp for autumn fishing

Autumn for a carp fisher does not mean at all that it is time to put away the gear and forget about your favorite pastime until next spring. Quite the contrary, the end of summer suggests that it is an excellent time for carp fishing, when you can take a swing at a trophy specimen.

In the autumn, wheat and corn are used to make bait.

However, a decrease in water temperature can negatively affect the bite. Only high-quality and balanced bait can help. How to prepare it and what components need to be included? Simply follow this recipe:

  1. Take 0.5 kg of corn and the same amount of wheat. Soak the grains in a pan of purified water for about 6-12 hours.
  2. After soaking, add water as needed. There should be 2-3 times more liquid than corn and wheat. Place the pan on the stove and cook for about half an hour. Already at this stage, you can drop a little liquid flavoring (just not a sweet or fruity taste!).
  3. Pour about 500 g of feed (for poultry) into the cooked mixture of corn and wheat. Also add raw eggs (2 pcs.). Mix everything thoroughly.
  4. Since in the fall carp often eat even their own kind (this is due to the urgent need for protein and the desire to get enough before winter), you can finely chop capelin for bait. The meat of other fish will also work.

Fishing in the fall will be more effective if you add ingredients of animal origin to your bait.

Already in this version, the bait mixture will be effective when fishing for carp in the autumn. However, if possible, we recommend adding black bread and breadcrumbs. Moreover, the amount of such ingredients can be up to 10-20% of the total weight of the bait. Don't forget about animal feed. Bait for carp in the fall must contain (at least something from the list):

  • bloodworm;
  • maggot;
  • dung worms;
  • insect larvae;
  • boilies or pellets of meat and fish flavors.

Binding components

Molasses not only binds the components, but also adds flavor to the bait.
To prepare bait for carp when fishing in the current, you will need to add binding components to its composition to prevent its rapid erosion. To increase viscosity the following is added to the composition:

  • millet cereal;
  • oatmeal;
  • semolina;
  • molasses;
  • honey;
  • sugar;
  • clay.

Millet porridge for bait is boiled for 20 minutes, then the remaining water after cooking is drained and the millet is cooled. Cereals are introduced into the composition at the very last stage, immediately before throwing the balls into the water. Oatmeal does not require cooking; it is poured into the mixture before moistening, just like semolina.

Molasses, honey and sugar not only glue the components together, but also give the bait a sweet taste that the carp likes. Clay binds well and makes the mixture heavier. When choosing clay, the fisherman should be careful, since some types have a specific smell that repels fish.

Spring porridge recipes for various types of fish

Porridge for crucian carp

Crucian carp, found in many domestic reservoirs, is the most popular prey. Corn porridge prepared in accordance with the following recipe is well suited for catching it:

  1. Pour corn kernels into a pan of water and add one teaspoon of granulated sugar.
  2. The corn is cooked for 2 hours; it should be stirred periodically with a spoon.
  3. The resulting mass should be cooled to a comfortable temperature, then passed through a meat grinder and mixed with cat or dog food.
  4. You can use a small amount of anise seeds, vanillin or grated garlic as a flavoring.

Porridge for carp

The spring is very often used if the main target of fishing is carp; in this case, you can prepare the following porridge:

  1. 800g of dry peas are poured into the pan; they need to be cooked until a homogeneous liquid mass is formed.
  2. While the mass is cooling, take one bag of fried sunflower seeds and pass through a meat grinder.
  3. Add 400g of semolina in small portions to the cooled pea mixture, while simultaneously stirring the mixture with a spoon.
  4. Mixing should be continued until the mass in its structure begins to resemble hard dough; immediately after this, crushed seeds are poured into it.
  5. The porridge is thoroughly mixed again.

The resulting bait can be divided into 2-3 portions and placed in plastic bags, from which air must be released. You can only store it for one night in the refrigerator, after which the mixture will lose its effectiveness.

Porridge for bream

There are various options for porridge designed for catching bream, but the most effective bait is prepared according to the following recipe:

  1. Three full glasses of water are poured into the pan, after which it is brought to a boil.
  2. Several glasses of pearl barley are poured into boiling water; cooking should be accompanied by constant stirring and continue until the cereal swells.
  3. One glass of millet, a tablespoon of sunflower oil and a small amount of vanillin are added to the composition.
  4. Cooking continues until the millet absorbs the remaining water: this will be indicated by the appearance of bubbling holes on the surface.
  5. The pan is removed from the heat and covered with a lid; The porridge must be allowed to sit for half an hour.
  6. After the specified period has expired, the bait is transferred to a clean pan, one glass of semolina and two glasses of barley and corn grits are added to it.
  7. The mass is thoroughly mixed, after which an effective bait for catching bream with a spring is ready.

Ballast components

If fishing takes place on a deep-water river with a significant current, weighting components are added to the bait, which are different types of soil. For 1 kg of moistened mixture there are 2–4 kg of soil. Ballast not only makes the bait heavier, but also makes fishing more economical, since it is also saturated with the smell of flavorings and is perceived by the fish as a food object. When using soil, the cost of preparing carp bait is reduced several times.

You can purchase ballast soil at a fishing store or prepare it yourself. To prepare your own soil you will need:

  1. on the shore of a reservoir, using a shovel, remove the top layer of soil;
  2. transfer a sufficient amount of earth into a separate container;
  3. clear the soil of large debris;
  4. sift the soil through a fine-mesh sieve, removing small stones.

If there are molehills on the river bank, then you can do without a shovel by collecting soil around the holes. Fresh soil is much better than store-bought soil because it is home to various arthropods that can serve as food for fish. Soil can serve not only as ballast; it can be used to darken the bait, which is often necessary.

Features of bait for carp

In the warm season, carp prefers bright mixtures, yellow or orange . In cold water the bait should be dark in color. Carp is a fairly large fish, so the bait mixture should be coarsely ground. Coarsely fractionated compositions have a number of advantages over finely ground bait:

  • they are washed away more slowly by the current and linger longer at the feeding point;
  • large particles are better visible on the bottom soil;
  • they are not eaten so quickly by small fish adjacent to the carp;
  • Large fractions absorb better and retain the scent of the flavoring longer.

Carp mixtures are distinguished by their high content of nuts and other protein-rich components. The composition includes amino acids that help fish digest food faster and cause it to increase its appetite.

Aromas for warm water

To catch carp at water temperatures above +14 0 (May - August) use the following scents:

  • vanilla;
  • corn;
  • chocolate;
  • caramel;
  • cinnamon;
  • honey;
  • tutti-fruti;
  • fruit aromas – banana, strawberry, plum, peach.
  • [THERE IS AN ANSWER] How to catch live bait from the shore in the summer?

    In addition, for the preparation of bait in carp fishing, such a popular flavor as corn molasses with betaine is used. Flavors with such odors are added to bait mixtures, they are used to treat baited boilies and canned corn attached to a hook.

    Cold water scents

    In early spring and late autumn, when the water temperature drops below +140 C, flavors with such odors as:

    • garlic;
    • anise;
    • hemp;
    • cinnamon;
    • honey;
    • shrimp;
    • shells;
    • bloodworm;
    • maggot;
    • crabs.

    Since odors spread worse in cold water than in warm water, flavorings are used in small quantities - a large amount of flavoring added to the bait or applied to the bait creates a concentrated fragrant spot near them, which will not attract, but repel the carp.

    Aromas for winter fishing

    For winter fishing, the following flavorings are added to the bait:

    • bloodworm extract;
    • maggot;
    • garlic;
    • shrimp;
    • hemp.

    Add flavorings to the bait in an amount of 20-30% of the dose recommended by the manufacturer.

    But again, this division is rather arbitrary. Fishermen often follow not instructions, but their own experience and vision of the “correct” smell for carp or other fish. They use not only different aromas and their concentrations, but also make all kinds of mixtures from additives, combining aromas.

    How to make bait for carp

    The simplest carp bait recipe consists of only 3 components and looks like this:

    1. breadcrumbs;
    2. crushed oatmeal cookies;
    3. sunflower cake.

    All components are mixed in equal proportions and moistened. You can add a sweet flavor to the carp feeding mixture.

    The other recipe is more complex and includes:

    • 1 kg corn flour;
    • 200 gr. hemp cake;
    • 300 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 200 gr. chopped hazelnuts;
    • 1 can of corn;
    • 200 ml molasses.

    The dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed together and moistened with water in which honey was previously diluted. The corn is added at the very end. A bait mixture that shows good results on large rivers consists of several components:

    • 1 kg breadcrumbs;
    • 1 kg of wheat bran;
    • 300 gr. hemp seeds;
    • 300 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 500 gr. boiled millet;
    • 300 gr. oatmeal

    At the end of the moistening procedure, soil and dry flavoring are added to the bait. If a liquid activator is used, it is added to the water before mixing.

    In paid reservoirs, fish are taught to eat specialized feed, which must be included in the mixture. Privada for the “payer” includes:

    • 1 kg of fish feed;
    • 1 kg rye bran;
    • 500 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 300 gr. ground hemp seeds;
    • 300 gr. ground peanuts;
    • sweet flavoring.

    The fish feed is first poured with boiling water and infused for 5–6 hours. After the compound feed has infused, other ingredients are poured into it. If necessary, you can additionally moisten the bait by adding flavoring to it. The most complex recipe used to lure finicky fish is:

    • 1 kg of corn grits;
    • 1 kg biscuit ground crackers;
    • 300 gr. powdered milk or baby food;
    • 300 gr. hemp seeds;
    • 300 gr. chopped peanuts;
    • 200 gr. chopped hazelnuts;
    • 300 gr. coconut cake;
    • 300 ml molasses.

    After mixing the dry ingredients, the bait is moistened with water with molasses diluted in it. If necessary, a sweet activator is added.

    What types of bait are there for carp?

    Each carp angler has his own opinion about what is included in catchable bait.

    All of them are divided into the following types:

    • grain mixtures consisting of dry or fermented components;
    • finely ground dry bait (store-bought and homemade);
    • pellets;
    • boilies (whole and cut).

    To increase the attractiveness of the bait, animal components and flavored liquids are added to it.

    Animal components:

    • bloodworm;
    • worm;
    • maggot;
    • mole cricket;
    • grasshopper.

    The amount of animal components in carp baits is less than, for example, in feeder baits, but in spring and autumn, when the fish needs protein, they play a decisive role. In summer, the fish diet expands, and the presence of animal components is not so critical.

    Among the liquids, we highlight CSL corn extract, which attracts fish with both smell and taste.

    Grain mixtures

    Most of the closed reservoirs where carp now live are former collective farm headquarters, where fish were bred for further sale. They fed it with grain waste from the fields, and corn occupied a dominant position. Therefore, corn itself and liquids based on it are attractive to carp and improve the attractiveness of bait.

    In addition to corn, grain mixtures include:

    • wheat;
    • oats;
    • barley;
    • millet.

    Expert opinion
    Vladimir Poltoranin

    Fisherman - expert

    Before you go carp fishing, it is advisable to find out what tenants or owners feed the fish in order to use similar ingredients in the bait.

    When fishing in an unfamiliar body of water, feeding with grain mixtures is the best solution, because this is a natural and familiar food to the carp that does not arouse suspicion.

    The composition of the bait varies depending on specific conditions, because if there are wheat or millet fields near the reservoir, then these types of grains should be used primarily as base ones.

    But in any case, grain bait is considered a universal way to attract fish.

    The disadvantage of using grains in bait is that they are quickly eaten by fish and you have to feed them more often.

    If you have a bait boat or a spomb rocket, the task is simplified, but you will still have to work hard.

    In addition, corn or dried peas with barley attract small fish, and large carp may not have a chance to taste the treat.

    Dry bait

    This type of bait is offered by companies that produce carp food and contains components that are familiar to fish and stimulate its appetite.

    Advantages of dry food:

    • the mixtures are sold ready-made and before use they only need to be moistened with water from the reservoir where the session is taking place;
    • They are convenient to store, even if not the entire pack is used, because the packaging is waterproof and can be closed tightly enough.
    • a large assortment of mixtures with different odors and compositions helps the fisherman choose the best option for a given reservoir.

    The disadvantage of store-bought baits compared to mixtures prepared at home is their cost, and this is why many fishermen prefer to use homemade feeds.

    Upon arrival at the reservoir, all that remains is to moisten the dry mixture and bring it to the desired consistency. Due to the presence of a binding component, the moistened mixture molds well into balls and is used to feed the swim using a slingshot, spomb or “parachute”.

    Pellets

    This type of bait appeared on the market relatively recently, and is a pressed granule. The composition of the granules is kept secret by manufacturers, but usually it consists of birdseed, ground grains and flavorings. More importantly, the pellets work on carp and other types of white fish and are also perceived as natural food.

    It is quite possible to make pellets yourself, but this requires an extruder, a device for pressing and molding waste grain and other products.

    There are fishermen who use compressed food for poultry or pets, but in this case large expenses cannot be avoided, because successful carp fishing requires abundant feeding.

    To feed with pellets, the fisherman uses a spomb, a slingshot or a so-called “parachute” or delivers the bait to a point on the boat. To increase the attractiveness of the pellet, it is filled with aromatic liquids.

    Boyles

    The invention of boilies is considered the beginning of the era of carp fishing, and it is already very difficult to imagine carp fishing without these “magic” balls. Initially, they were used as bait on the hair, but the rule “what you feed is what you catch” works in all bodies of water.

    The use of whole and cut boilies in the bait mixture helps not only to attract fish to the point, but also to keep it there for a long time.

    Bait made from grains or moistened mixtures attracts small fish and often trophy carp simply do not have time to participate in the “feast”.

    Boilies with a diameter of 16–30 mm are too much for small fish and using them in a mixture helps to interest the carp and force it to feed in the right place.

    Fish food manufacturers make most boilies based on birdseed with nutritional additives and flavorings. Experienced carp fishermen make boilies in artisanal conditions and their quality is not much inferior to store-bought products.

    The difference in cost between homemade products and official products is quite large, and for large volumes (which will be required at the carp session) the savings are even greater.

    Advantages of using store-bought and homemade boilies (so-called “scooters”) as bait:

    • this food is highly attractive, the fish like it and attracts its attention;
    • in search of boilies, the fish spends a long time at the point chosen and baited by the fisherman;
    • high flight properties, which ensure ease of casting using a cobra or slingshot;
    • do not dissolve in water for a long time, maintaining their attractiveness and aroma;
    • Large boilies do not attract small fish, which means the chances of catching trophy carp increase.

    The negative point is that store-bought boilies are not such a cheap product, so many carp anglers prefer to make “scooters”, providing themselves with bait for the whole season. When making homemade boilies, time-tested recipes are used, although no one forbids experimenting and even an element of creativity appears here.

    Coming up with your own working recipe for boilies for feeding carp is not at all easy, and if you are successful, this is truly a reason for pride. The simplest recipe for scooters includes regular store-bought dry bait and chicken eggs. For every 100 grams of powder, take one egg, mix thoroughly, roll into balls and dry.

    It is impossible to clearly answer the question of which bait is better for carp, because both pellets and boilies and powder with grains have both advantages and disadvantages, so experienced carp anglers use a mixture, for example, of cut boilies and pellets.

    In this case, the pellets act as a “quick” attractant, and in search of boilies, the carp linger in the place where the fisherman needs them, and the chances of catching them increase significantly.

    Before going fishing, it is better to think in advance what the bait program for carp will consist of, having analyzed the features of the reservoir. There should also be backup options, because the behavior of the fish and its gastronomic preferences can change even within one day, and you will have to work hard to get the catch.

    Recipes for preparing bait for fishing at different times of the year

    The activity of carp and its taste preferences change depending on the water temperature. A carp angler must be able to prepare a mixture that works in any conditions.

    Bait for spring

    Making bait that will work effectively in early spring is quite simple. To do this you will need:

    1. Finely chop the wheat loaf and loaf with caraway seeds and dry them in the oven until they become breadcrumbs;
    2. scroll the crackers in a meat grinder and mix with 0.5 kg of rye bran;
    3. add 2 tablespoons of milk powder and 4 teaspoons of coriander to the resulting mixture;
    4. Immediately before fishing, after moistening, chopped worms and maggots are added to the composition.

    When the water warms up to 15 degrees, homemade bait for carp will work better, which includes:

    • 1 kg breadcrumbs;
    • 1 kg of corn grits;
    • 200 gr. oatmeal;
    • 200 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 200 gr. milk powder; 300 gr. ground hemp;
    • 2 packs of cinnamon powder.

    All components are thoroughly mixed and moistened. If fishing takes place in the current, millet porridge and soil are added to the composition.

    Summer bait

    Hemp is an important component in carp bait.
    In the summer, fish show increased activity and respond well to complex mixtures. The recipe for baiting carp in warm water consists of the following components:

    • 1 kg of corn grits;
    • 1 kg of wheat bran;
    • 400 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 400 gr. ground hemp;
    • 200 gr. ground hazelnuts;
    • 400 gr. baby food or powdered milk;
    • 200 gr. ground peanuts;
    • 200 ml honey or molasses;
    • any flavoring that has a sweet aroma.

    After mixing the bulk ingredients, they should be thoroughly mixed and moistened with water, molasses and flavoring diluted in it. If a bulk activator is used, it should be added during the mixing of the ingredients. Depending on what type of bait you are fishing with, the mixture includes corn or pellets.

    For autumn

    With the autumn cooling of the water, the carp becomes passive and begins to respond to less active baits. Bait for catching carp in the fall should include:

    • 1 kg of rye bread breadcrumbs;
    • 200 gr. sunflower cake;
    • 200 gr. hemp;
    • 4 teaspoons coriander.

    After mixing and moistening, bloodworms and maggots are added to the composition. Since the fish have lost their summer activity, the daily amount of bait mixture should be reduced.

    For winter

    In some reservoirs, carp continue to be caught throughout the winter. His behavior becomes inhibited and it is not always possible to lure him with bait. However, there is a recipe that can stir up winter carp. This recipe includes:

    • 0.5 kg of rye bread breadcrumbs;
    • 0.5 kg fishmeal;
    • 100 gr. dried daphnia;
    • 100 gr. aquarium food intended for feeding goldfish;
    • 400 gr. feed bloodworm.

    Such bait does not require moisture and is delivered to the bottom of the reservoir using a winter feeder. To quickly attract fish to the fishing site, the contents of the feeder are soaked in bloodworm extract.

    The best bait for large carp consists mainly of cut or whole boilies, as well as pellets. Trophy specimens rarely pay attention to bait that does not contain large elements.

    Bait recipes for carp

    Each fisherman has his own little secrets in preparing bait, which he willingly shares with friends, or, conversely, keeps secret. However, the results of these recipes work and here are some basic carp bait recipes.

    If you do not want to waste time or do not have all the necessary ingredients, we recommend BUYING proven bait for carp. This is one of the best baits tested.

    Recipe No. 1 spring

    To prepare the recipe you will need:

    1. Semolina, pearl barley and rolled oats - 150 grams .
    2. Cake – 100 grams .
    3. Honey – 1 tablespoon .
    4. Breadcrumbs – 200 grams .
    5. Sugar – 2 tablespoons .
    6. Popped popcorn – 50 grams .
    7. Powdered milk – 100 grams .

    Pearl barley and rolled oats must be boiled until tender. Then add semolina and mix everything. The semolina will infuse, and the whole porridge will have a viscous consistency. You need to add breadcrumbs, cake and milk powder to the resulting mass. Next, add sugar and honey and mix everything.

    This bait is considered one of the classic preparations for carp fishing, which combines many pleasant aromas, which will clearly interest carp in the spring.

    Recipe No. 2 for autumn

    A meat grinder is the best tool for grinding hard ingredients such as peanuts.
    This bait recipe will act as a magnet for fish. If you periodically feed carp in a reservoir while fishing, then it will practically never leave the given place and the chance of catching it by fishermen will increase significantly. This bait consists of the following components:

    1. Pearl barley – 200 grams .
    2. Bran – 200-300 gr .
    3. Honey – 2 tablespoons.
    4. Raisins or crushed peanuts – 50-70 g .
    5. Anise flavouring.
    6. Bloodworms and maggots.

    Pour boiling water over the pearl barley and let it brew for about two hours. The bran should also be poured with boiling water and after about half an hour add raisins, crushed peanuts and honey. Mix all this thoroughly and, just like barley, leave to brew.

    Pour a few pinches of bloodworms and maggots into the prepared steamed pearl It is very important not to overdo it with the proportion of drops, otherwise the bait, due to the very strong smell of all the components, will not attract, but rather scare away the carp.

    After all the preparations, the bran with raisins and peanuts must be mixed with the pearl barley mass. You can also add a small pinch of cinnamon, which will give the whole bait a sweet aroma.

    After arriving at the pond , the fisherman needs to add coastal soil to the carp bait and mix everything. If necessary, you can add water so that the bait does not turn out crumbly. From this bait you need to roll up lumps the size of a chicken egg. Due to the presence of soil in the bait, the lumps will be dense and will reach the bottom of the reservoir without losing all the components of the carp feed mixture.

    Recipe No. 3 feeder

    Dry bait must be moistened with water from the river or pond where you are going to catch carp.
    This recipe for bait for carp has proven itself well when there is a weak current in the reservoir. This bait is most often stuffed into special feeders, from where the current gradually washes it out at the bottom of the reservoir, thereby carrying the smell downstream and luring carp from the lower reaches of the reservoir to the fishing spot. To make this bait you will need the following ingredients:

    1. Breadcrumbs – 200 gr .
    2. Ground mixture of pearl barley and rolled oats - 500 grams .
    3. Honey – 2 or 3 tablespoons.
    4. Gelatin – 1 teaspoon.
    5. Cake – 100 grams .
    6. Crushed dried worms or food for aquarium fish.
    7. Cat or dog food.

    Rusks and cereals must be mixed and poured with a small amount of warm water. The water should be poured gradually so that the mixture is slightly moistened. After this, cake, gelatin, honey and crushed dog or cat food are added to the mass. The bait is ready.

    At the pond, slightly moistened bait is hammered into the feeder and sent to the bottom. Also, this bait has proven itself well when fishing for carp on a feeder and anglers willingly use it throughout the summer season.

    Recipe No. 4 simplified, spring-summer

    The bait is molded into special balls in order to be evenly distributed along the bottom and precisely delivered to the spot.
    A life-saving method for fishing in strong currents. This recipe for bait for carp is one of the simplest and most effective, which does not require any special skills or preparation tricks from the angler.

    Most often it is used from late spring to early summer, when carp have just come out of hibernation and are actively feeding. Preparing such bait does not take much time and you can even prepare it on the shore of a reservoir if you have the necessary ingredients, a fire and a metal container. For this you will need:

    1. Half dried peas – 200 grams .
    2. Pearl barley – 200 gr .
    3. Millet cereal – 100 grams .
    4. Anise or hemp oil flavoring.
    5. Breadcrumbs – 100 grams .

    Peas, pearl barley and millet are poured into a container and cooked over the fire until tender. After this, add breadcrumbs and flavored drops to the finished mass. If you have vegetable oil or sunflower seeds, you can also add them to the bait. This bait is very simple and universal and, most importantly, it requires special expenses.

    Recipe No. 5 for fishing in summer

    This recipe is most effective in the summer, especially in hot weather, when carp prefer to live not in the bottom layers of water, but on the surface. For this carp bait recipe you will need:

    1. Powdered milk – 300 grams .
    2. Egg powder – 100 grams .
    3. Soy flour – 200 grams .
    4. Sugar – 1 teaspoon
    5. Honey – 1 tablespoon.
    6. Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon.
    7. Breadcrumbs – 100 grams .

    In a small container you need to add milk powder, egg powder, soy flour and mix it all. After this, add the remaining ingredients and, stirring the mixture slightly, pour in water. It is best to use water from the reservoir in which fishing will take place.

    This bait gives a pleasant aroma and attracts carp to the feeding site. Due to the light ingredients, it remains in the surface layers of the water for a long time and forms a cloudy spot, which will clearly interest a representative of the aquatic environment - carp.

    Features of bait production depending on conditions and fishing location

    If fishing takes place in a small, shallow reservoir with stagnant water, then you should not over-wet the bait, much less add binding components or heavy soil to it. The weighted balls will sink into the silt of a stagnant pond and remain invisible to the carp.

    On rivers with moderate currents, you should also not use bait with ballast soil. Binding components in the form of boiled millet or ground oatmeal will be quite sufficient.

    Heavy compounds are used on deep rivers with strong currents. Only balls weighted with soil will be able to reach the bottom and remain at the fishing point for some time.

    Features of bait production depending on the weather and time of day

    In cold weather, when the water becomes noticeably colder, fish begin to react worse to bait mixtures with a pronounced sweet aroma. In hot weather, on the contrary, carp prefers sweet compounds and responds well to fruit and caramel aroma, while it is recommended to add an activator even to rich store-bought food.

    In the daytime, with good lighting, carp can easily notice even complementary food that blends in with the color of the soil. At night, the fish have to rely only on their sense of smell, so it is recommended to add bright particles made from millet or barley colored with food dyes to the bait intended for fishing in the dark.

    Features of bait production depending on the weather, time of day

    In spring, carp bite in warm weather, usually before lunch at a depth of no more than two meters.

    For night fishing, paint the bait white. Throw it in as quietly as possible. It is better to start bait for fishing during daylight hours. In this case, use long-soluble baits (balls with the addition of a dense binding component).

    Carp have a good appetite when there is an approaching thunderstorm. Therefore, during this period, prepare a lot of bait and do not skimp on it.

    Carp is a cold-blooded animal. As the temperature of the water drops, its temperature also drops. He becomes less active. Therefore, it needs to be stirred up and a slightly larger amount of aromatic additives added to the bait than usual.

    There is no one universal bait recipe for successful carp fishing. The more experience you have in preparing different formulations under different fishing conditions, the faster you will find that one recipe that is suitable specifically for your fishing location.

    DIY carp bait recipe for feeder

    Carp bait for fishing with a feeder should have a stronger aroma, since using a feeder it will not be possible to deliver a large amount of food to the fishing area. The mixture, enhanced with flavors, compensates for the lack of bait at the fishing point.

    For the same reason, more live and coarse-grained components, which include pellets and corn, should be added to feeder complementary foods. Otherwise, the bait for the feeder is no different from the traditional bait.

    Flavorings for bait

    To quickly attract fish to the fishing site, anglers include natural and artificial flavors in the bait mixture. Such flavorings for bait serve not only to quickly attract fish to the fishing point, but also ensure that they remain on the bait spot for a long time, since they are able to be absorbed into the ground. The ability of the flavor to be absorbed into ground sediments is very important, as this helps to keep the fish in the fishing area even if it completely eats the bait. Artificial flavors include essences used in cooking, as well as specialized products widely available in fishing stores. Beginning carp anglers make the mistake of believing that the more flavor they add to the bait, the better the bite will be. Such a misconception often leads to the fact that the carp bypasses the feeding point.

    Particular care should be taken when handling essences intended for culinary purposes, since they have a highly concentrated composition with a high content of odorous substances. Food essences must be diluted in water and only then added to the bait mixture, and the smell of the resulting liquid should not be pungent.

    With purchased odorous substances intended exclusively for fishing purposes, the situation is a little simpler, since they do not have such a high concentration as food essences. However, there are manufacturers whose bite activators have a very pungent odor that can scare away fish, so a fisherman, when purchasing a flavoring agent, should always be guided by his own sense of smell.

    Carp loves the smell of coriander

    When preparing bait yourself, you can use natural flavors, the main advantage of which is that they have a moderate aroma and it is almost impossible to overdo it with their concentration. The most effective activators of natural origin include:

    • garlic;
    • coriander;
    • caraway;
    • cinnamon;
    • bergamot;
    • honey;
    • sunflower cake;
    • hemp and coconut cake (which are also feed components).

    You can add ground coffee and cocoa beans to the bait, which also helps activate the bite. Among carp anglers, there is an opinion that if the fisherman himself likes the smell of the bait mixture, then the carp will like it too. This point of view has more than once proven its validity in practice and should be taken into account when preparing bait for carp with your own hands.

    Feeding carp on short fishing trips

    Short fishing trips are a kind of lottery. The fishing time period is not selected, it is “lowered from above” - from Friday to Sunday. If the carp is not in a cool mood at this time, then you will have to return without testing the strength of the tackle with the trophy.

    But is everything so uncontrollable? Maybe there is a way to somehow increase the chances of catching carp during short fishing trips using conventional methods - smart choice of place, special feeding, bait that attracts the attention of fish?

    On a short fishing trip, you just need to do everything to position the gear in the place where the fish are. After all, if the carp doesn’t swim even close to the abandoned gear within the allotted time, then you definitely won’t see a bite. As always, choosing a location comes first.

    Choosing a location is a top priority

    There are two main promising points - where the carp is constantly located and where it feeds. There is also a route for the movement of fish between these points - also an option for choosing a place. The importance of finding the casting point is such that you need to take advantage of the slightest opportunity to obtain information. First of all, you need to talk with fishermen who are regulars at the reservoir, with the protection of the reservoir, and also find information and reports on the Internet.

    The second thing to do is watch the pond. It is best to find time and arrive at the reservoir on a separate day to walk around its perimeter. The relief of the coast continues at the bottom. If there is a steep slope on the shore, then most likely there will be a decent depth near the shore.

    The gully through which water flows during rains turns into a depression at the bottom, which the fish really like because it brings oxygen and bugs. If there is a dense forest on the shore, then most likely there will be remains of snags at the bottom - the same good place.

    If a carp splashes on the surface, then there is a good chance that it will be caught in this place, although this does not always happen.

    Unremarkable places are also interesting, but those where no one fishes, where there is no approach to the shore. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to check them by bringing gear from the opposite bank or diagonally.

    Other signs of places where carp usually feed are thickets on the border with great depth, protruding branches of snags at a decent depth.

    It’s not a bad idea to check the bottom with a marker during a reconnaissance trip, find the edge, the distinctive bottom topography, and find the casting point. Then the fishing time itself would be saved by half. Finding the casting point is the main task of all preparation for fishing.

    Bait for short fishing

    Another nuance that completely determines success in short-term fishing is proper feeding in accordance with the chosen place.

    If the chosen place is obviously promising, where the fish live or feed - snags, edges near the thickets, ravines with an influx of water, depressions at the bottom with clay outcrops... then you need to assume that the fish are there and there is no need to attract them from afar. All that remains is to invite her directly to the hooks.

    Therefore, the bait should be moderate in quantity, and should be placed very precisely at the fishing point. It is better to deliver it by boat or boat, and in many cases, when the fish are active, PVA packaging is sufficient.

    It’s a completely different question when we are not sure that the carp is nearby, but we assume that somewhere nearby there is a route for its movement, and within 24 hours the fish should pass nearby.

    Then the task of baiting is to attract fish from afar. First of all, the bait is filled with fine-grained bait, dusty and carried by currents, and also saturated with attractants that would dissolve well in water. It is better to use complex mixtures with many components, as well as impregnation with fermented compounds or use fermented grain.

    Attractants are first dissolved in water, and then the bait is mixed with it. It is better to throw such bait with a rocket or fall asleep from a boat. For greater depths, the crumbly bait must be moistened more so that it reaches the bottom layers. And at a depth of up to a meter, you can use very dry bait.

    Retain fish with food

    An active carp will definitely be interested in small particles, but at the source of their distribution it must find something nutritious, something that can be collected from the bottom. Otherwise, the fish will leave the fishing point. The second part of the feeding consists of a fraction that should hold the fish in place. At the same time, it should not oversaturate the fish. It is better to use moistened balls, molded with the same small bait

    and grain mixture, but with the addition of chopped and whole boilies and pellets.

    If the fish does not approach within 3 hours, then it is better to repeat the procedure of baiting with a crumbly dust mixture, otherwise the chances of seeing carp in a short fishing trip will quickly disappear.

    When the fish approached, the bite began, it is better to feed after each bite exclusively with large granules, boilies, using a cobra, so as not to frighten the carp off with the noise of a large ball.

    For short fishing trips, it would be a good idea to organize an important place - long enough, and regularly feed the fish in a certain place and thus artificially make it a hot reservoir.

    Nozzles, boilies

    Short fishing does not leave extra time and forces you to speed up all stages of fishing. There is simply no time to wait for the carp to find the boilie on the hair, eating complementary foods in a row. The boilie needs to be highlighted so that the fish takes it first.

    Firstly, it needs to be slightly raised above the bait composition. For example, combine it with half a floating boilie or floating foam. This kind of bait is also easier for fish to take.

    The second way to highlight the bait is to cast it with a PVA sausage, equipped with cut particles of different buoyancy and impregnated with an attractant. The fish will be attracted to the area by a large concentration of food at one point. But it is important that the attractant is of high quality, made on the basis of natural acids and extracts, and not just colored, flavored glycerin. The third method of isolation is dipping the bait itself into an attractant before casting, but only of the specified high quality.

    Often, anglers overestimate the importance of smells and other qualities of a bait boilie, and believe that they are not biting because the boilies are “wrong.” Preferences for boilies of one or another company, or homemade ones, with one or another predominant odor, are of course possible.

    But the basis for success in short-term fishing is still not the selection of boilies, but the fulfillment of the three above conditions - choosing a fishing spot, feeding in accordance with fishing conditions, and highlighting the bait boilie on the bait. Then, most likely, fishing will be successful.

    Common mistakes

    When feeding carp, novice fishermen make mistakes that lead to poor catches. Typical mistakes of beginning carp anglers include scattering bait in bulk over a large area - this leads to the fact that the fish take a long time to find the bait lying on the bottom.

    Another typical mistake is one-time feeding. Many fishermen feed carp only at the very beginning of fishing, which is completely wrong . A flock of carp that comes up for bait quickly eats the food and goes to another place. You need to feed regularly, throwing small balls of bait mixture at the fishing point.

    Carp feeding tactics

    The first stage of feeding involves throwing 5–8 orange-sized balls into the water. This is followed by a pause, which is maintained until the first fish is caught. After catching the first carp, 2-3 balls the size of a walnut are thrown into the water. If the bite is good, it means the fish approached the bait and began to actively eat it. In this case, additional feeding in the form of 1–3 small balls will have to be done after each bite, even if it is not realized. If the carp is not active, then there is no point in feeding more often than once every 10–15 minutes.

    When a fisherman aims to catch a trophy specimen, he feeds the fishing point with bait boilies. In this case, regardless of the intensity of the bite, 10–20 boilies should be thrown into the fishing area every 20 minutes.

    A simple, but very effective and proven bait for spring

    Ingredients:

    • Corn 1 kg.
    • Wheat 1kg.
    • Flavor bottle (fruit or berry) - 50 ml.
    • Sugar 100 gr.

    Rinse the cereals well in water. Fill with water so that there is five centimeters from the contents to the surface. Add flavoring, it is better to take anise or hemp and sugar. Stir everything until the sugar is completely dissolved. Place the container in a warm place to ferment for two days.

    Carp like this bait for several reasons:

    • The persistent smell of fermentation is very attractive to fish.
    • Such food is easier to digest than dry cereals.
    • A simple composition without spraying is not liked by other small and nimble fish, so the carp can get to it first.

    For winter

    With the onset of cold weather, carp begins to reduce its appetite and diet. To gain fat, fish look for protein foods. Therefore, canned fish in oil, fish oil, and fish meal are added to the bait. In winter, carp are less active, so catching them requires a lot of patience. The bite will most likely be in the deep part of the reservoir. The bait should be small in size with not very dusty components. You can use maggots as a basis, after scalding them with boiling water. A live larva can spook winter carp. Feeding must be done with extreme caution in small portions. In winter, carp are very capricious in their choice of food and are calm, and food is needed only to stir it up.

    Quick bait from improvised means

    There are times when you urgently need bait, but you don’t have it prepared. The way out of this situation is simple bait from what is at hand or what can be easily found in any stall.

    Recipe from improvised means No. 1

    Ingredients:

    • Seeds.
    • Cocoa.
    • Black bread.

    Soak the bread in water, squeeze out the excess, add cocoa and seeds.

    Recipe No. 2

    Ingredients:

    • Breadcrumbs for breading.
    • Canned corn.

    Pour half a can of corn into the bag. Let's crush it there. Add the remaining corn whole. We also pour the liquid from the jar into the bag. Breadcrumbs are needed as a binder.

    If there is no store nearby, use live ingredients. They can be found by running a net along the bottom of the reservoir. These are all kinds of larvae, crustaceans, leeches, and babies. Great luck for you if there is a field nearby with corn, sunflowers, rye, and wheat. It’s good if you find acorns, chop them up and fry them over a fire. Armed with a shovel, go to the field and dig up worms there.
