Fishermen regularly catch such fish, especially if they are well informed about its sites. It is ideal for spinning, mugs and vertical lures, which are used mainly in winter.

Bream is found in the area of ​​the flooded riverbed of the Istra, and quite large specimens are regularly caught, the size of which is about 5-6 kg.

If you have certain skills, you can even catch a catfish. However, today this is a great rarity, since this breed is on the verge of extinction here, this problem is connected with the difficult environmental situation, because the water is becoming increasingly polluted year after year.

Fishing here is allowed only if you have the appropriate permit. Along the banks there are a huge number of fishing bases, as well as recreation centers. There you can rent all the necessary equipment, purchase a ticket, rent accommodation for one or several nights, acquire a boat for the required time, and so on.

Winter fishing

The most catchable place used for fishing in winter is located in the area of ​​bays and near the mouth of the Katysh River, which flows here from the right side. These areas are quite deep. If you stand along the riverbed, you can catch quite a large perch, roach, and sometimes pike.

Fish bite most actively in the Istra Reservoir towards the end of winter - in the second half of February and early March. At this time, water leaves the reservoir through the dam, a current appears in the Katysh River , bringing with it a sufficient amount of fresh water saturated with oxygen, this, in turn, attracts fish.

Trusovo Beach on the Istra Reservoir

A very popular recreation area, so it is always crowded and noisy. But guests will be pleased with the good level of infrastructure:

It is located near the small town of Solnechnogorsk, which is located 35 kilometers from the ring road. The area occupied by this base is 7 hectares, all of which are located along the shore of the reservoir. Spruce and pine trees grow on the territory, under which you can find boletus and other noble mushrooms.

Open all year round. The base has two guest houses - large and small. Both of them are two-story: the small one can accommodate 12 people at a time, and the large one can accommodate up to 30 . They are equipped with all the necessary amenities: showers, saunas, spacious rooms, billiard rooms and small swimming pools.

For the summer season there are small wooden houses for four people. There is a well-maintained and well-equipped beach on site.

There is everything necessary for fishing in both summer and winter, including a boat station. Along the banks there are gazebos with barbecue areas.

Beach "Dam" on the Istra Reservoir

A real place of worship, always crowded. The beach is quite large, you can find a quiet place. The coastline is mostly sand, the slope to the water is gentle, there are no cliffs.

The special feature is excellent scenery and clean air, thanks to centuries-old pine trees. By the way, you can hide from the sun and have a picnic there. The advantage is a huge water area, the opposite shore is not visible, clean water. The bottom is not silted, Rospotrebnadzor officially allowed swimming. The downside is that the water is quite cool even in the heat; it warms up slowly due to its impressive depth.

You need to get from Moscow to the city of Istra - along the Moscow Ring Road we move along the Volokolamsk Highway along the main road. Location. How to get there

The Istra Reservoir is located on the Istra River in the north-west direction from Moscow. The distance from the Moscow Ring Road to the city of Istra, then to the village of Letishchevo along the Volokolamsk highway is only 55 km.

You can get there by car along Volokolamka, New Riga or along Pyatnitskoye Highway; you need to go to the city of Istra, and then from there to the village of Letishchevo.

You can get there by train. To do this, take a commuter train from Rizhsky station and travel to the station. “Istra”, then take a bus to any village located on the shore.

Istra Reservoir

The Istra Reservoir is one of the most beautiful places in the Moscow region. The artificial lake is located near the village of Mishutino and is one of the largest reservoirs in the Moscow region. Description 

The Istra Reservoir is an artificial lake 25 kilometers long. In the widest part of the water area, the water spills over four kilometers. On average, the depth of the lake is about six meters, and in the deepest place it reaches 28 meters. The reservoir occupies about 3,300 hectares of area. In total, it contains 180 million cubic meters of water, which is supplied to Moscow and the Moscow region for the needs of the population.

The Istra River is a left tributary of the Moscow River, which until the 18th century connected the water artery with the Volga into one transport route. There is not a single industrial enterprise in the Istra region, so the air in the vicinity of the river is considered clean and healthy.

There are a large number of bays and ledges along the winding shore of the reservoir. The irregularities appeared when the tributaries of the Istra River were flooded during the process of filling the reservoir. The water level in the artificial lake is the same throughout the year. A slight decrease occurs by February, and then gradually the amount of water is restored. The area along the coastline of the Istra Reservoir surprises with its unusual contrasts of hills, plains and fields.

History of creation

The Istra reservoir has existed since the mid-30s of the last century. This is one of the first artificial reservoirs in the Moscow region. The man-made lake was created in order to supply water to the residents of the capital and regulate the overflow from the Istra River basin to the Moscow River.  

In the fall of 1934, the flow in the Kuibyshev dam was finally closed, and the Istra reservoir gradually filled with water. During the flood of 1935, filling continued, and all work on the reservoirs was completely completed two years later.  

Previously, passenger ships regularly passed through the artificial reservoir, and people could travel through the reservoir to remote places in the Moscow region. Safe navigation stretched for 36 kilometers.

Interesting Facts 

1. The water in the Istra Reservoir thaws after winter in mid-April and freezes again at the end of November. Studies have shown that the reservoir has a low level of turbidity and pollution, since self-purification of water occurs due to flowing currents and a large number of spring sources. The condition of the Istra reservoir is constantly monitored by employees of public utilities.
2. Around the artificial lake there are many unexplored places where colonies of Red Book birds live in the wild: muskrats and black storks.
3. Many Russian famous singers, artists, politicians and athletes have bought property near the Istra Reservoir. The cost of country houses in this ecologically clean area is one of the highest in Russia. Today, active development continues in the area around the reservoir, and housing prices in elite villages continue to rise.
4. Initially, the reservoir was planned to be made in the form of a canal to connect the Volga River and the Moscow River from Gorodishchi to Istra. In the mid-30s of the last century, prisoners of the Soviet forced labor camps Belbaltlag and Dmitlag, engaged in the construction of water canals, built a dam near the village of Rakovo. Now this settlement is called the village of the Kuibyshev waterworks. The constructed dam was used as the basis for the Istra reservoir.
5. During the Great Patriotic War, the waters of this artificial reservoir prevented the advance of the German army. While the Soviet army was retreating in the Volokolamsk direction in the fall of 1941, enemy troops practically surrounded Moscow. On November 24, 1941, by order of I.V. Stalin, a charge was placed at the base of the spillways, with the help of which the Kuibyshev dam was blown up. The height of the powerful water flow was 2.5 meters, and its length was about 50 kilometers towards the south. The dam was then finally destroyed by German troops during their retreat. The following year, 1942, the object was restored.

For families with children there are comfortable recreation centers and country clubs. The quiet pond and beautiful landscapes are conducive to quiet reflection. Fans of tent holidays stay in campsites to feel closer to nature. The Istra reservoir is located far from industrial zones, so this area is considered environmentally friendly. An artificial reservoir is used to supply drinking water to Moscow residents.

Swimming is officially allowed in the reservoir. The beaches have everything you need for a comfortable stay: sun loungers, umbrellas, places to change clothes.
