Grilling fish: everything you need to know

If you have a new gadget in your kitchen, then you will rush to expand the scope of its application in order to justify the purchase. Therefore, more and more people are wondering what kind of fish is best to fry on an electric grill? Fatty and large fish species are suitable for this: trout, salmon, sturgeon, carp, perch, whitefish, pike, etc. If you fry dry and not very fatty pieces, then the finished dish will disappoint you, because the fillet will dry out and become rubbery. Whether it’s the fatty varieties: the flesh will be juicy, soft and tasty, the crust will be crispy and spicy. To cook fish on an electric grill, you just need to know proven recipes and follow the recommendations exactly, and the device itself will do the rest for you. Therefore, these recommendations are suitable even for culinary neophytes. Let's begin!

Red fish steak (trout)

Ingredients

Red fish steak on an electric grill is made with the following ingredients:

  1. Trout steaks - 1 kg, about three pieces;
  2. 1 half lemon;
  3. Salt to taste;
  4. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon.

For this dish, it is better to take fresh steaks rather than frozen ones, because defrosting destroys the fiber structure.

Preparation

Wash the steaks. Squeeze half a lemon directly onto them. Season generously with pepper and salt. Distribute the spices evenly and let the fish marinate for 10 minutes at room temperature. During this time, we start the grill. Many modern grills have a “fish” mode, and that’s what you should use. If it is not there, you can adjust the temperature and cooking time yourself: 200 degrees and 5 minutes (if the grill fry on both sides). Potatoes fried on an electric grill are suitable as a side dish.

How else can you marinate trout steak on an electric grill? Garlic, dried herbs, and smoked paprika are widely used for pickling. For thrill-seekers - hot pepper. But do not overdo it with seasonings, because their abundance extinguishes the taste of the fish.

With vegetables

This is one of the most common options for preparing salmon. As side vegetables, you can take eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, sweet peppers and onions.

Ingredients:

  • salmon steak, 2 pcs;
  • vegetables for baking;
  • olive oil, 100 ml;
  • lemon, ½ clove;
  • garlic, 1 tooth;
  • fragrant herbs;
  • ground black pepper;
  • salt.

  1. We take out the dishes into which we will pour the liquid for the marinade. Squeeze lemon juice into it and pour olive oil. Mix until smooth.
  2. Squeeze the garlic and throw the chopped herbs into the resulting mixture. Let's stir again.
  3. Add chopped fish steaks. Sprinkle with pepper and add salt.
  4. Dip the salmon into the prepared marinade. Let the fish pieces sit for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the grill and place the marinated steaks on the grill. Cook them for about 14 minutes, frying on each side.
  6. Grill the prepared vegetable mixture. This is a side dish for a dish.

This grilled salmon recipe is popular among those who like to cook fish on the grill. If desired, salmon in vegetable marinade can be served with sauce.

Salmon steak

Ingredients

Electric grilled salmon steak is a great holiday recipe.

  1. 2 salmon steaks;
  2. 1 teaspoon French herbs;
  3. 2 tablespoons olive oil;
  4. Salt and pepper to taste;
  5. Lime juice (0.5 lime);

You can also prepare a simple sauce for grilled fish: 70 grams of sour cream, 2 cloves of garlic, dill and parsley.

Preparation

Pour French (also called Provençal) herbs into a marinade container. Pour oil. Salt, pepper, stir. Add lime juice. Coat the fish on both sides and let it absorb the marinade (10-15 minutes in the room). During this time, heat up the electric grill. If you have a fish routine, don't reinvent the wheel. If not, fry the steaks for 5 minutes at 220 degrees. If only one panel is working, double the cooking time. Finally, chop the garlic and herbs, stir them in sour cream and serve the finished dish! It will be perfectly complemented by zucchini fried on an electric grill.

Grilled salmon steaks

M.Taste

Red fish steaks, be it salmon, sockeye salmon, salmon, chinook salmon, coho salmon or trout, are simply made for the grill. If you have never cooked fish on a grill in your life, then we recommend starting with this type. It is very difficult to spoil it and you don’t even have to marinate it first. In general, if you want something tasty and healthy, quickly and without much fuss, you should buy red fish steaks. By the way, don't confuse steaks with skin-on fillets. It's a little more difficult to prepare. You want smooth steaks with a bone in the middle.

Ingredients:

  • Salmon steaks 2 pcs.
  • Coarse sea salt pinch
  • Freshly ground pink pepper pinch
  • Olive oil 1 tsp.

Brush the salmon steaks with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground pink pepper.

Place the steaks on a heated and oiled grill over hot coals or cook on an electric grill like the Tefal Optigrill+ GC712D34. Fry the salmon for 3-5 minutes depending on the desired degree of doneness. Serve with a slice of lemon or orange, green salad and baked potato.

Ingredients:

  • Salmon steaks 2 pcs.
  • Coarse sea salt pinch
  • Freshly ground pink pepper pinch
  • Olive oil 1 tsp.

Fish in foil

Ingredients

Fish in foil on an electric grill doesn’t make any sense, oven owners will say. But those who do not have an oven do not have the opportunity to bake fish in foil. For them there is an option using an electric grill.

  • 1 whole salmon fillet on the bone - 400-500 grams;
  • 2 sprigs of thyme;
  • 3 sprigs of parsley;
  • Salt and black pepper - a pinch;
  • Butter - 100 grams.

For green oil:

  • 120 grams of butter;
  • 1 bunch of parsley;
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • Coarse salt;
  • Freshly ground black pepper.

Preparation

Soften the butter at room temperature. Finely chop the parsley, removing the stems. Finely chop the garlic. Salt, pepper, make a paste in a mortar. Stir the oil and fragrant paste until smooth. Place the butter on film, make a sausage and wrap it in two layers. Place the sausage in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Remove the skin from the fillet, pull out the bones with tweezers, and feel for any remaining bones. Rub the fillet with salt, pepper and butter.

Scatter the greens onto a sheet of foil. We put the fillet on it. Place pieces of butter on top of the fish. We fold a tight envelope, leaving a little space above the fish.

Fry on an electric grill for 15 minutes at a temperature of 220 degrees. When the fish is cooked, do not forget to put pieces of green butter, which we prepared in advance, on the smoking fillet. The fish will be very tender and delicious! It can be served alongside grilled corn.

How to Grill Rainbow Trout

Trout is considered one of the cleanest fish. It lives in reservoirs with crystal clear running water. To cook it on the grill, you need to take into account some nuances:

  • It is better not to use frozen trout; choose a chilled or fresh carcass;
  • To prepare whole fish, it is recommended to use baking foil, this way it turns out juicier and retains all its taste;
  • You shouldn’t marinate it for a long time; for trout, 15-20 minutes is enough.

To make grilled fish juicy, appetizing, tender and aromatic, you don’t need a lot of spices and seasonings. The trout itself tastes perfect. It is enough to add salt, pepper and lime juice, and optional white wine. Bake on the grill on both sides until golden brown and surprise your loved ones with impeccable culinary skills.

Dorado

Ingredients

Dorado on an electric grill is a very tasty and healthy dish for the whole family!

  1. 2 Dorado fish;
  2. 3 sprigs of dill;
  3. 0.5 lemon;
  4. Seasoning for seafood: thyme, dried garlic, paprika, cumin, white mustard.

Preparation

Fish carcasses can be fried completely, cutting off the tail and leaving the head. You need to remove the gills and cut the fish lengthwise to stuff it with lemon and herbs. We cut the greens and lemon coarsely, without ceremony. Rub the fish with spices on top and brush with lemon juice. The fish mode is suitable for it, and if it is not there, then you remember - 7 minutes at 200 degrees. When the fish is ready, it needs to be removed from the grill and swaddled in foil for 7 minutes to rest. Then you can serve it with a salad of grilled vegetables.

River fish

Trout

This is the queen of barbecue and fish kebabs. The price in the store corresponds to the status of a delicacy. The structure of the meat is dense, the fish does not fall apart on the grill. It is so tasty that it does not require any spices. The taste will be emphasized by a slice of lemon.

Salmon

Delicious fish in any preparation, grilling is one of its culinary forms. By the way, the meat of this fish is traditionally used for sushi.

Som

Cut into steaks on the grill. Juicy dense meat with a lamellar structure holds its shape on the coals. Specifics of preparation: the catfish needs to be soaked for an hour in water with lemon juice (vinegar) and spices to eliminate the smell of mud.

Zander

Grilled steaks turn out delicious and juicy. One problem is that there are a lot of small seeds.

Pike

Also bony, but tasty, although the meat is a little dry. To preserve juices, wrap steaks or small gutted pike in foil.

Carp

The sweetish, tender meat in steaks will not hold its shape. Stuff the carp with herbs and wrap in foil.

crucian carp

Ingredients

How to cook crucian carp in an electric grill? The recipe is not at all complicated:

  • 3 crucian carcasses;
  • Salt and pepper to taste;
  • Rosemary - 1 tablespoon;
  • Nutmeg - 1 teaspoon;
  • Thyme - 1 tablespoon;
  • Juice of 1 lemon;
  • Parsley (dried) - 1 tablespoon.

Preparation

We cut the crucian carcasses crosswise, take out the insides and remove the gills. Pour lemon juice over the fish. Mix dry spices and rub the crucian carp. Marinate for 20 minutes. Then heat up the grill. How long does it take to fry fish on an electric grill? 5 minutes and 200 breasts - done! If only one side is fried, then multiply this time by two. If you are very afraid of eating river fish (due to the possibility of acquiring parasites), extend the time to 10 minutes. You can serve it with one of five homemade sauces.

Salmon steak

Ingredients

How to cook fish on an electric grill? Here is a simple and economical recipe:

  1. Salmon - 2 steaks;
  2. 30 grams of butter;
  3. Salt and pepper to taste;
  4. Garlic - 3 cloves.

Preparation

You need to grease the fish with olive oil, add freshly ground pepper and salt. Grind the garlic under a press and grate the salmon. Then place the steak on the preheated grill and close the lid. We choose fish mode or simply set the temperature to 220 degrees and fry for 5 minutes (if on one side, then all 8). After a few minutes, the fish can be placed on a plate and served to taste. It can be served with your own BBQ sauce.

Already know how to grill trout, pink salmon or salmon steak?

To prepare any of the listed fish, you first need to choose the right individual:

  • the carcass of salmon, trout or pink salmon must be intact, without any damage;
  • there should be no mucus on the scales;
  • the gills should be strictly pinkish in color;
  • the eyes of the fish are shiny and not sunken;
  • the smell of red fish is pleasant and marine.

Fish for grilling should always be fresh and chilled. Frozen is not recommended. A more traditional cooking option is to cut it into steaks.

For the marinade you will need the most basic products that you always have at home. These are salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon. Season the prepared steaks with spices and place them on a hot grill. Cooking will take about 15 minutes on both sides.

Do not dry out red fish or overcook it, so it will retain its delicious taste and aroma.

Do you already know how to grill this kind of fish at home? To do this, you can purchase an electric grill. This is just a godsend for seafood dishes. Once you cook this barbecue on the balcony for dinner, you won’t be able to stop.

Perch

Ingredients

  • 4 perch carcasses (medium - half a kilo each);
  • Seasoning from Provençal herbs - parsley, dill, tarragon, marjoram, thyme;
  • Peppermint;
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil;
  • Salt and black pepper to taste.

Preparation

We rinse the carcasses with hot water (but not boiling water) from the tap, wait 5 minutes and easily peel off the scales with a knife. Remove the entrails and wash the fish. You also need to get rid of the black film so that the fish does not taste bitter. We make oblique cuts around the perimeter of the carcass on both sides. Rub the fish with dry seasonings and salt. To ensure that the seasonings are better absorbed, you need to rub the perch with vegetable oil and half the spices. Don't forget about the inside of the fish. Thanks to the oil, they will quickly saturate the fish completely. Leave it indoors for 1 hour.

For frying crucian carp, the fish mode is suitable, or 18 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees, if both sides work evenly. In this case, it will take a lot of time, because the carcasses are large, and the fish is river, which means it requires more careful processing. You can serve grilled cabbage along with it.

Carp

Ingredients

Carp on an electric grill can make proper nutrition more varied and tastier.

  1. 1 carp - 1 kg;
  2. Salt and black pepper to taste;
  3. 2 tablespoons sunflower oil;
  4. Teriyaki sauce - 2 tablespoons;

Preparation

We clean the carp from scales: first rinse with hot tap water, and then peel off the scales with a knife. We scrape out the insides by making a longitudinal incision on the stomach. We remove the gills. We cut the fish, cutting it crosswise into uniform pieces. We make small cuts on the back. Wipe dry, rub with salt and black pepper. Add teriyaki sauce to the oil, stir, rub the fish, not forgetting the inside. We give the carp 20 minutes so that it has time to soak.

Heat up the electric grill. Set to fish mode or heat to 220 degrees. How long to fry fish on an electric grill? 5 minutes is enough. By the way, you can cook very tasty squid on an electric grill!
