Fishing in Murom and the region
One of the most famous cities in the Region is Murom, located on the right bank of the Oka. This location contributes to the development of fishing; there are a lot of people in the city with this hobby.
Most of the fishing enthusiasts are located along the banks of the Oka River; in addition, they fish along the oxbow lake; fishing on the Dmitriev Gory and on the Zaton on the Oka is in demand.
Fishing in Murom and the region can be either paid or free. Stocked lakes provide a wide range of services, including comfortable accommodation with your family. Relaxing in the clean air will benefit everyone; while dad is fishing, mom and the children can take a walk and admire the beautiful scenery.
Mainly caught in the area:
- pike;
- perch;
- silver bream;

- bream
They use different tackles; spinning rods, float rods, and donka rods are considered popular. Fishing is carried out both from the shoreline and from boats.

Best fishing spots
For many, free fishing is a priority, because to catch it you need to show dexterity and skill. This skill cannot be developed in a reservoir overflowing with fish.
The fishing club in the region recommends a large number of free places for fishing holidays. You can practice your favorite hobby both on ponds with standing water and on rivers. The main condition will be the preliminary purchase of everything necessary, because it will not be possible to purchase additional bait or bait in the wild.
Rivers
There are many water arteries in the region, some larger, some smaller. But everyone equally has more than enough fish. There is an unspoken rating of rivers that are worth going fishing:
- They often fish on the Nerl, mainly fishing with spinning rods, and they catch predatory fish species. There is also a place in the reservoir for peaceful fish: minnows, ruffes, and bleak are excellent food sources for pike, perch and pike perch.
- The Klyazma River is quite deep and has many tributaries; fishing here will bring great pleasure to both experienced fisherman and beginners. In addition to the predator, roach, ide, bream, and gudgeon will be a worthy catch. A predator can easily be interested in a wobbler or spinner, but bloodworms and worms will attract the attention of other inhabitants of the reservoir.
- The Oka is the main waterway of the region, and naturally many people catch fish there often. The most desired trophy for all fishermen are catfish and pike perch, which often grow to impressive sizes.

Winter fishing in the Vladimir region is especially good on Koloksha, and in the summer there are many local fishermen on the river.
Lakes and ponds
As already mentioned, there are many ponds and lakes in the region, some large and some small. Everyone chooses where to go on their own. The most popular are:
- Lake Vvedenskoye is known to many fishermen in the region. People from many regions come here for chub, pike, and tench. Even a beginner will not be left without a catch; roach, bleak, and ruffs often get hooked by anglers. Spinning anglers are lucky to catch pike, perch, chub, and very rarely catch pike perch.
- Fishing in Kolchugino is also known outside the region. The reservoir is especially famous for its large quantity of bleak; it is caught here all year round. In the summer, it is advisable to feed it, then the catch will be simply huge.
- Fishing in Vyazniki on Lake Kshara is very popular. Mostly they catch carp and crucian carp, but there is a lot of bleak in the lake, tench, pike and perch are often caught.
In addition to these, there are many other reservoirs; fishing there is also not bad. Don’t be afraid to look for new places and go a little further than usual.

Paid reservoirs
Paid fishing in the Vladimir region is well developed; there are a lot of artificially stocked reservoirs in the region where you can catch a wide variety of fish.
In most cases, such databases offer:
- cozy and comfortable houses;
- gazebos with barbecues;
- additional entertainment for the fisherman’s family and friends.
It is mandatory that there is a store with bait and bait on the territory of the paid reservoir. Some even offer rentals of fishing equipment and watercraft. Often, for an additional fee, you can hire a huntsman who will guide you to the most successful places for fishing.
The pond in Ileikino is one of these reservoirs; many species of fish, including trout, are bred there. Fishing is carried out year-round, regardless of the time of day and weather conditions. Khryastovo is also famous - fishing here is considered elite.
The cost of fishing varies greatly; each base has its own price list. Some take only a one-time rental, while others will charge a separate fee for each kilogram of fish caught. The rules will also vary, but in most fisheries they encourage fishing here.
On the banks of the Nerl
Must-see attractions:
- Residence of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky. The white stone palace of the Grand Duke, located near the city of Vladimir. Its construction dates back to 1165. The village in which the palace is located is called Bogolyubovo, hence the prince’s nickname. Now the palace stands on the territory of the monastery. These architectural creations are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The white stone monument of Vladimir and Suzdal is the only building erected before the Mongol capture of Rus', and partially preserved to this day.
- Church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary. Another monument of Old Russian architecture, an example of the architecture of the Vladimir and Suzdal school. The secret of this building is its harmonious proportions and the perfect combination of the church with the landscape of the Russian plain. The temple is one of the most beautiful religious buildings and, together with the surrounding meadow, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Architectural ensemble of the village of Kidekshi. There is a village not far from Suzdal. The first white stone church in this part of Rus' was erected there. The date of construction of the church is 1152, the period when Yuri Dolgoruky was the ruler. Blank, undecorated walls make it look like a fortress; the interior decoration is also distinguished by its austere simplicity. After the restoration of the village from the consequences of the Tatar-Mongol yoke, a monastery appeared on this site. Stephen's Church and the Holy Gate, along with the monastery, form a single architectural monument.

In addition to these attractions, there are small settlements on the banks of the Nerl. They also amaze with the beauty of their natural landscapes.
Fishing in Kovrov
The administrative center of the Vladimir region is famous among fishermen for its large number of reservoirs containing a variety of fish. There are free fishing spots in the area, but there are also many paid ones. Many people go to these places for a family holiday, some rent a house at the base and spend only the weekend, some come here for a longer period.
Clean air, beautiful nature, many comfortable bases will allow both the fisherman and his entire family to have a great time.
Fishing in the region is very developed; here you can go fishing both wild and at paid bases with comfort. The ichthyofauna is represented very widely, every fishing lover will be able to find something to their liking.
Navigation
The Nerl River is not navigable, but small catamarans and kayaks can easily navigate it. In May, rafting on any type of watercraft is possible, but you should be careful when going out onto the river during low water. Several dams have been built along the river.

The bottom of the Nerl is a mixture of sand and rubble; in some areas there are huge boulders in the middle of the riverbed. The danger is that due to the large amount of algae, you may not notice the stone.
The width of the river ranges from 10 to 30 meters. In narrow areas, the Nerl is a seething stream, and as it expands, it turns into a leisurely marshy current.
