Fishing in the Ulyanovsk region and Ulyanovsk in 2021

Fishing in the Ulyanovsk region and Ulyanovsk is of interest to many fishermen. After all, the variety of reservoirs and fish in them will not leave fishermen indifferent. But not every body of water can catch big fish. It can take years to find a catchable spot.

So that you don’t waste your precious time looking for places where fishing in the Ulyanovsk region in 2021 will be successful. We decided to put together for you a whole selection of lakes and rivers where you will never be left without a catch. We also paid a little attention to the choice of gear, which you can read about below.

catchable places

The catching places of Ulyanovsk and the region have been delighting fishermen with a rich catch for many years, but it will be quite difficult to describe them all in one article. Therefore, we decided to present to your attention only the most popular ones, including:

  1. The Sviyaga River
    is located near the village of Isheevka and is a right tributary of the Volga River. Local fishermen say that the river is the best place for fishing in the region.
  2. Near the village of Kriushi there is a small lake
    in which fishermen catch crucian carp using a float rod all year round. The best bite here is on bread as bait.
  3. The Kuibyshev Reservoir near the village of Shilovka
    pleases local fishermen with large catfish, perch, bream, asp and pike perch. Most often, fishermen catch trophy fish using jigs.
  4. Ryleevsky Descent
    delights local fishermen with pike perch, bream and trophy crucian carp, which are caught using feeder rigs.

This is not a complete list of places for free fishing, because there is also paid fishing in the Ulyanovsk region, but more on that below. Many fishermen think that fishing occurs only on the Volga, but this is far from the case, because underestimating small bays and tributaries is a big mistake.

River Uren

The Uren River flows through the entire territory of the region and is 42 kilometers long. The river belongs to the Volga River basin and is quite picturesque and attractive for fishermen. It is especially popular among fishermen during winter fishing periods. When you go to the Ureni River in winter, you may have the following goals:

  • Catching active predators early in the morning (perch, pike and pike perch);
  • Catching roach in baited holes;

On the river it has been noticed that perch most often stands close to the shore

. It is best to drill several holes at a distance of about 5 meters from it and study the terrain. Local fishermen choose the following tactics: drill 4 holes with an envelope, and then move along the coastline. The perch is fed with bloodworms, a handful of which is dropped directly into the hole.

When fishing for roach

holes must be drilled using the same technique, only at a distance of about 15 meters from the coastline. It is best to use store-bought mixtures as bait, since cold water requires a sharp and tasty smell.

It is best to feed all the holes in which you plan to fish in advance.

Perch fishing is most often done using a jig with bloodworms. If significant aggression is noticed in the predator’s behavior, then you can try changing the gear to a reelless one.

The wiring of the jig is carried out in three stages:

  1. Triple hit the bottom;
  2. Stable and smooth rise of 30 centimeters, which is accompanied by play;
  3. Smooth and leisurely descent to the bottom.

As practice shows, the perch bites already on the 2-3rd cycle of fishing, it is worth sticking to exactly this tactic when fishing all the holes in order to come home with a catch. After all, catching a predator with thin, sensitive winter tackle will not leave any angler indifferent.

Biryuch River

The Biryuch River is a left tributary of the Sviyaga River. This river stretches across the entire territory of the Ulyanovsk region, covering a very large water area. The 58 km long river pleases fishermen with its picturesque beauty, and the clear water with an abundance of fish.

Taking with you a light float rod with delicate equipment, you can safely go in search of dace and sitney

, which usually live in pits. The most commonly used baits are worms, bread crumbs and dough.

Most often, rocky rifts become the chub's habitat. Where you can catch it using ultralight spinning rods with appropriate baits. It is necessary to cast the bait downstream, so the retrieve will be more natural. Some anglers use goose liver and chafer as bait.

The chub is in the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk region

. Therefore, it must be released back into the reservoir immediately after capture.

Burbot is often caught on the Biryucha River

, local fishermen use bottom equipment for this, which is called zakidushki. It is best to go looking for burbot early in the morning or before sunset. It is best to use frogs and minnow fry as bait.

Shale mine

Fishing near the Ulyanovsk region in a shale mine is often the choice of fishermen who have a boat or an all-wheel drive vehicle. The road is very bad and stretches from Isheevka to the sign, after which it passes through the village to the very coast, and then uphill through the forest.

This is a quiet bay that pleases fishermen with trophy catfish and pike perch; they catch it with jigs and narrow-bodied oscillating spoons, and from peaceful fish you can often catch roach and bream using bottom rigs.

Among the features of fishing in this reservoir are the following:

  • If you are fishing from a boat, then you need to cast the tackle towards the dump;
  • The best bait is an earthworm;
  • The composition of the bait must be selected with heavy particles;
  • The optimal rod length does not exceed 5 meters.

This area is not suitable for recreation, as there is a lot of silt in the bay. But fishing in such an area is simply delightful and interesting, and also brings very great rewards. Local fishermen most often catch pike perch in return and catfish in return.

Dubravka

Near the village of Dubravka there are ponds that attract many crucian carp fishing enthusiasts

. Local fishermen prefer to catch it with feeder gear, as well as with a sliding float for long casting. The peculiarity of fishing in these ponds is that crucian carp will take any bait.

It is very good to catch carp in these ponds

. Most often it is caught close to the shore, about 10-15 meters. In these reservoirs the fish are quite cautious, so the use of a leash is mandatory. Most often, canned sweet corn and boilies are used as bait. But not everything is so good, there is a highway near the reservoir where cars are constantly making noise, the nature is quite sparse, and you will have to find a place to stay for the night yourself.

Yurman Bay

Yurmansky Bay is located on the left bank of the Kuibyshev Reservoir, and stretches for a distance of about 10 kilometers. In the pits, the maximum depth of the reservoir is approximately 4 meters. The main part of the catch of local fishermen is white bream and bream, large roach and crucian carp are often caught, and fishermen also enjoy trophy perch

.

For fishing in the Gulf of Jurman it is best to use a boat. As for gear, a float rod equipped with floats for fishing in still water is best.

It is best to cast the tackle closer to the reeds or along the coastline. The best time for fishing is early morning and late evening, before sunset. Local fishermen consider the most catchy baits to be:

  • dung worm;
  • bloodworm;
  • greenery;
  • maggot.

The fresh air and picturesque landscape of the bay are simply indescribable, because it’s not for nothing that fishing in Ulyanovsk attracts a lot of tourists, and local fishermen spend most of their time there. Also pleasing is the paid fishing in the Ulyanovsk region on the bay, most of the shore of which is reserved for bases.

Ozerki

Not far from the village of Ozerki there are excellent ponds where paid and free fishing can take place in the Ulyanovsk region. This place attracts tourists from all over the country, and the reservoirs are known for the capture of trophy carp and crucian carp

. Equipped with a long float rod, you can safely fish directly from the shore.

The landscape and fishing conditions are similar to other places in Ulyanovsk. They catch crucian carp in the early morning, using semolina as bait, which the fishermen prepare themselves; steamed pearl barley and worms also perform well.

If you are going on a summer fishing trip, then take mosquito repellent with you, as there are quite a lot of them here.

Robin

Not far from the village of Malinovka there are shallows of the Volga River, which often attract fishermen. Fans of float fishing will enjoy fishing for roach and bream.

, and fans of spinning fishing
can hunt for pike, perch and ide
. Local fishermen recommend using bait that contains many substances of plant origin.

To enjoy fishing as much as possible, it is better to use a boat. As for the most effective baits and attachments, the following work best in these reservoirs:

  • Rotating spoons;
  • Wobblers;
  • Oscillating spinners.

It is best to use light spoons and wobblers with a shallow working depth, since there are very few deep places suitable for fishing. Most often, the predator attacks bait while casting into reed thickets.

Kashinka

In the village of Kashinka, Ulyanovsk region, there are five ponds, two of which are paid, and three are free ponds for fishing. Most often, large carp and crucian carp are caught in reservoirs

. Fishing on paid ponds is allowed only during the daytime. You will have to pay for catching above the norm and pay for a day's stay at the pond.

It is best to acquire gear with a good margin of safety, since lakes often delight fishermen with bites from large carp. The choice of bait is best made in favor of canned sweet corn or boilies. Although the fishing ponds in the Ulyanovsk region are not particularly beautiful, the fishing reports speak for themselves.

Fishing in the Ulyanovsk region is quite exciting and unique. When fishing, it is worth remembering the prohibitions and the Red Book of the region in which the chub is listed. We will talk about seasonal fishing bans below, but now is the time to watch a video about jig fishing in Ulyanovsk.

Lakes and ponds

Lakes of the Ulyanovsk region for fishing should be presented from the unique Beloye reservoir in the Nikolaevsky region. It is considered a natural monument; the places are reminiscent of northern Finnish lakes. And it is located near the Moscow-Ulyanovsk federal highway. There, on the banks there are rest houses and sanatoriums. But you can also find a place for free fishing.

The next one can be called Kryachek or Kryazh lake. Pike, perch, crucian carp and roach live there. The banks are overgrown with reeds, so it is better to fish from a boat. It’s not easy to find, so you need to check everything well with the local population in advance.

There are many carp ponds spread across the region, some are already abandoned and are not used for breeding, like the Novikovsky ponds, but the remaining population is quite developed.

The pond in the village of Mikhailovka is not the largest, but it is very popular, especially among the locals. The distance from the city is about 20 km. Catch: carp, crucian carp, roach. It bites on corn, worms, maggots, and semolina.

Beautiful nature and big catches await fishermen in the Ulyanovsk region

What gear to choose

Once you have decided on a fishing spot, you need to move on to choosing bait and gear. If we talk about choosing gear for catching predators in the rivers and lakes of the Ulyanovsk region, then you should choose strong spinning rods and fishing line, or braid with a decent margin of safety.

As a rule, the search for a predator takes place in water bodies with an abundance of aquatic vegetation, which significantly increases the risk of gear breakage.

But you shouldn’t get carried away with the choice of hard equipment, because everything depends on the expected catch, for example, catching perch with a retractable leash involves using a soft rod and thin fishing line. Fishing in the Ulyanovsk region for perch bears fruit when using thin and sensitive gear in combination with a spinning rod of fast and ultra-fast action.

If you like fishing with feeder and these equipment, then most likely your potential catch will be bream or roach. Canned corn and a regular worm are excellent baits. As for the choice of tackle, any feeder will do; I use Gardner’s loop tackle. For such fishing, it is best to choose lakes and rivers with great depth.

Fishing on Sviyag

For some reason, many fishermen do not go fishing on Sviyaga, believing that there are no fish in it. This point of view is quite surprising, because the river is quite large. It is quite obvious that there are a lot of fish in it.

Characteristics of the river

The length of Sviyaga is about four hundred kilometers, the maximum width is forty meters. The river originates in the Kuzovatovsky district, flows from south to north, and flows into the Volga. Water from the river is actively used for agricultural needs.

There are about twenty species of fish in Sviyag . The most popular among local fishermen are:

  • perch;
  • crucian carp;
  • roach;
  • bream;
  • silver bream;
  • rudd;
  • carp;
  • catfish;
  • ide;
  • pike;
  • saberfish;
  • bursh.

Fishing features and best places

On the river, fishing for predatory fish using spinning rods from the shore is popular . Spoons and wobblers catch bursh, pike, and pike perch. In the spring, sabrefish actively bite on Sviyag. In autumn, local fishermen like to catch perch with a spinning rod using multi-colored twisters. In the summer, large bream are caught: with mugs from boats, with feeder gear - from the shore. Pearl barley porridge, corn, and peas are used as bait. Sometimes they fish for lard.

The river is relatively convenient in terms of choosing a good place for fishing. There are quite a few approaches to the water, but local fishermen prefer the section of the river near the village of Linevka and the spills near the village of Dachny.

Dachny . There are quite a few water holes here from where you can catch pike quite easily. They catch a predator from a boat using a girder. Sometimes catfish and bream bite. Roach and bluefish are also caught on the float rod. However, there are also disadvantages. Firstly, there is a highway and a railway nearby, which creates a lot of noise. Secondly, the water in the spill is very dirty, so you can’t swim here.

Near the village of Linevka there is an oxbow lake called Sviyaga, in which roach, crucian carp, and perch are found. Here they catch both from the shore and on boats.

Summer fishing

Summer fishing in the Ulyanovsk region and Ulyanovsk most often occurs on the banks of the Sviyaga and Volga rivers. Fishermen from all over the country come to these rivers to enjoy paid and free fishing. Most often, paid bases provide all the conditions for a comfortable stay in the company of friends or with family. The average price is about 200 rubles per day, but this is with a catch rate of 3 kilograms; if you want to take home more fish, you will have to pay extra or look for fishing spots without a catch rate.

At some bases, by paying only 1000 - 1500 rubles you are given the opportunity to rent a boat for a day or more.

Among the features of fishing in the reservoirs of the Ulyanovsk region in the summer, it is worth highlighting the need for frequent feeding of fish

, so before going to the pond you need to stock up on bait in sufficient quantities.

It is best to go fishing early in the morning or before sunset. In some places you can successfully fish even in the midday heat; most often these are fast-flowing rivers or paid ponds where fish feed around the clock.

Shilovka

The village is located on the banks of the Volga in the Sengileevsky district, 60 kilometers from Ulyanovsk. The journey there from the city will take approximately 1.5 hours. This is one of the most favorite places for Ulyanovsk fishermen. Prey can be ide, catfish, bream.

Picturesque nature, silence, and most importantly - there is always a bite. This is evidenced by photographs that fishermen share on social networks and on the fishing forum.

Winter fishing

In the vicinity of the villages of Kriushi, Krestovo-Gorodishche, Shilovka, Tsemzavod, Bely Yar and Sengiley, you can see a lot of fishermen who are united by a common goal - winter fishing in the Ulyanovsk region. It is near these villages that the Volga begins to be covered in ice cover first; this happens in the second half of December. The main target of fishing in these areas is usually large perch and trophy pike perch. Winter fishing in Ulyanovsk attracts fishermen from all over the country.

Sprat is most often used as bait for pike perch. When it comes to fishing technique, it all depends on the angler's personal preferences - some choose active play, while others prefer passive fishing. If you prefer to fish on the Volga, then you should pay attention to gear equipped for fishing in the current, while in lakes there is often standing water.
