Fishing in the Orenburg region in 2018-2019

Fishing on the Iriklinsky reservoir

The Iriklinskoye Reservoir is a creation of human hands, the largest in area (26 hectares). Even fishermen from Kazakhstan fell in love with this place; they, along with guests from neighboring regions and local residents, enjoy fishing in the Iriklinskoye Reservoir.
If you look from the other side, this body of water is truly amazing in its dimensions, its average depth is fifteen meters, and the maximum is about thirty-eight! But despite this, the fisherman has one more joy when fishing in this good place - the ichthyofauna (the diversity of fish in this body of water). If we are talking about diversity, then it is simply shocking! In the reservoir you can catch:

  • whitefish
  • ripusa,
  • crucian carp,
  • carp,
  • roach,
  • catfish,
  • bream,
  • pike perch,
  • pike.
  1. For those who like to catch “predators”, Birch Backwater is ideal. Near the shore you can catch perch and pike, and if you swim further away, you will catch pike perch. In the summer, it is possible to catch crucian carp, the “calling card” of the reservoir.
  2. Salty Balka - in this reservoir the fishing season begins earlier than anyone else, because the already warming shallow water is good for crucian carp. Knowledgeable people say that on Solyonaya Balka, 1.5 kilograms of catch is common!
  3. Khrushchev's backwater is also a fairly shallow place, you can catch bream, pike perch or crucian carp.

The most successful reservoirs for fishing are the rivers that flow into the Iriklinskoye Reservoir.

If you have good equipment - an echo sounder, a boat, then you can safely sail to the flooded hills, where the depth is shallow, and in the summer the tops of the hills are visible even without an echo sounder.

Winter fishing

In the Orenburg region, especially on its main river, it takes place taking into account certain features. It is at this time that grayling begin to go under the ice to spawn. The disadvantage of winter fishing is that some reservoirs are covered with very thin crust, and therefore it can sometimes be very dangerous. Fishing at this time requires careful preparation and knowledge of the characteristics of the river or pond.

In general, since there are a large number of reservoirs in the region, the choice of a place for winter fishing, an area where you can drill a hole and cast a fishing rod, is unlimited. Small and very shallow bays rarely attract fish, but medium and large ones, with decent depths, can feed underwater inhabitants all year round. One of these places is the Iriklinskoye Reservoir.

At the end of February and beginning of March, shallow waters are the most promising for fishing.

Kumak Reservoir

The Kumak Reservoir is an artificial reservoir located at the junction of the Kumak and Koklety rivers. This reservoir is considered an excellent place for a picnic, because the reservoir is clean and meets all the bio-ecological characteristics of the reservoir. Naturally, where there is outdoor recreation, there is fishing, and therefore it is impossible to leave here without carp, pike or perch.

Paid reservoirs

Of course, there is fish in all reservoirs and rivers of the region. And you can catch it from the shore, but many of them are overgrown with reeds, so to get a good catch you need to fish from a boat. But this pleasure is not cheap, and, moreover, it is not accessible to everyone.

Therefore, where fish are specially bred and fed, the population size is several times higher than, for example, in an ordinary lake. Therefore, many beginners who have just recently picked up a fishing rod prefer to engage in fishing on paid reservoirs.

Before the weekend, when the number of fishing enthusiasts increases, the owners do everything to ensure an uninterrupted bite for their guests.

The fish does not pre-feed, so it greedily pounces on the bait. Residents of the Orenburg region prefer to combine spearfishing with outdoor recreation when going outdoors with their families. The cozy gazebos located on the banks of almost all paid reservoirs are equipped with tables and benches where you can pleasantly relax after a good bite.

In general, fishing in the Orenburg region brings great pleasure not only to adults, but also to children. Very often you can see a son sitting next to his father with a fishing rod in his hands. Another advantage of private reservoirs is that their owners, in addition to providing gear, provide the opportunity to boil or fry the caught fish and taste it on the shore. In addition, fishing here is possible all year round, regardless of the season.

Koskol North and South

Karst lakes are located not far from the Salty tract. The maximum depth reaches 2.5 meters, so the lakes are considered shallow. For comparison, Northern Koskol is a reservoir with a sandy bottom and a shoreline without vegetation, which differs from the Southern one. But Southern Koskol has become famous for crucian carp, which attracts a large number of fishermen in early spring (during this period the fish gain mass). It is worth noting that maggots and worms are more relevant bait for fish in the spring.

From summer to winter, the bite is mainly in the morning, as the sun heats the water well, which affects the fish and they become less active.

Spring fishing

In the Orenburg region, from April to May or June, depending on the reservoir, there is a ban on certain types of fishing. This is due to the fact that the fish go to spawn. Therefore, except for a float or bottom fishing rod, with a maximum of two pieces per person, fishing from the shore is not allowed. At this time, it is strictly forbidden to catch freshwater trout (trout), sturgeon, white fish, grayling, especially in the Ural basin.

Nevertheless, some fishermen go to reservoirs in the spring. The water is still cold until the beginning of April. Therefore, many consider playing along with a jig useless. This is due to the fact that the fish in reservoirs are still inactive, and therefore slowly raising or lowering the bait brings much better results. In the spring, according to experienced hunters, the prey needs to literally bring the bait to its nose, which complicates the fishing process.

During this period, fishermen stop using sweet smells and high-calorie bases as complementary foods. Fishing brings better results if you have cut worms in stock.

Ural

The Orenburg region is rich in dams, which are located on the largest river and therefore fishing conditions differ in different places. The upper reaches of the Urals are famous for perch, pike and pike perch; below you can catch a hefty catfish (they use a feeder when fishing). In the spring, crucian carp swim there, living near the shore, near the snags.

Sheer lure is suitable for catching predatory fish

The Sakmara is considered the largest tributary of the Urals. The river is colder than the Urals, because its length is from the north to a deep gorge. For those who like to catch “predators”, you can find here: pike, pike perch, and perch. Ide, grayling, catfish, bream and chub also diversify the fisherman’s leisure time.

Free fishing

There are many places in the Orenburg region where you can go fishing for free. The most popular are:

  • Iriklinskoe reservoir,
  • Koskol Lakes,
  • Kumak reservoir,
  • The river and the Ural and its tributaries.

Let's take a closer look at each of these reservoirs.

Iriklinskoye Reservoir

An artificial reservoir where you can fish all year round. The reservoir attracts both locals and residents from neighboring regions. Here you can find carp, pike perch, whitefish, ripus, smelt and grass carp.

There are many fishing spots on the Iriklinsky reservoir:

  • Berezovsky backwater. Predators mainly live here: perch and pike;
  • Khrushevy backwater. Shallow backwater with a predominance of pike perch and crucian carp;
  • Salt beam. Located on the south side of the reservoir. The fishing season can start there the earliest.

A good catch is also observed near the coastal village of Energetik, where pike perch is found in abundance.

Koskol Lakes

Northern and Southern Koskol are lakes of karst origin with a shallow depth of up to 3 meters. It is recommended to come to these reservoirs in the spring, when crucian carp begin to gain weight after winter and actively bite on almost any bait.

Kumak Reservoir

Another artificial reservoir in the Orenburg region, the second largest. It is considered one of the cleanest in the region. Here you can count on a good, sometimes moderate bite. Usually a carp or perch is caught on the hook. If you were unable to catch anything at the Kumak reservoir, then you can try your luck at the Krasnochaban reservoir.

Ural and its tributaries

There are many dams on the river, so fishing conditions at each site may vary significantly. So, in the upper reaches you usually find pike perch and pike, and downstream - catfish and crucian carp.

Paid fishing spots

Fishermen who do not like to waste their time choosing a place or who lose patience go to the Orenburg bases. The bases, in turn, provide a fishing area with an abundance of fish for a certain amount. Orenburg provides many opportunities for paid fishing, for example:

Gainulinskie lakes (Gaisky district)

The reservoir is crossed by a dam into two parts. Commercial fish are raised in the upper lake, while the lower lake is used for fishing. Various types of fish are released into this reservoir, which can be caught (of course, not for free) with a spinning rod and fishing rod. BUT: for disabled people and pensioners, all fishing is free. For relaxation, there is a beach and a cafe.

Lake Linevoye (Dombarovsky district)

A small pond (1000*500), where you can catch carp or pike. But you can’t do without a boat, since the shoreline is overgrown with reeds and algae.

Lake Mozharovskoye (Novoorsky district)

Everything is strict on this body of water. For fishermen, farmers (owners of the lake) will allow entry only after purchasing a fishing ticket in Orsk. The catch here is decent: carp, bream, grass carp. Without much effort and unusual feeding, you can take away prey weighing up to 10 kg (Maximum weight of caught prey)

Pond in Blagodarny

The new pond is located in the Tyulgansky district and is overflowing with crucian carp and crucian carp. Due to the fact that the reservoir is quite “young”, it is not popular among fishermen, and the bite is not particularly encouraging, sometimes it is not even there. There are no restrictions on the weight of prey.
