Even fifteen to twenty years ago, fishermen could not even imagine that it was possible to purposefully catch silver carp with gear. Such a fish, as a rule, was hooked only randomly. Today, a successful “hunt” for silver carp has become a reality, and all thanks to this magical mixture - artificial plankton. What consistency should it have? And is it really possible to make technoplankton with your own hands? Our next article will talk about this. We hope that it will be useful for both beginners and avid fishermen.

What is it and what do fish eat it with?

A compressed mixture of various finely ground food is shaped like barrels or tablets, and once in the aquatic environment, it dissolves and forms a cloud with suspended particles, which in appearance resembles the natural plankton that silver carp feed on. After throwing technical plankton, the fisherman will need to wait at least half an hour, without touching the equipment during these minutes. Because as soon as the bait gets into the water, its upper shell, which makes up almost a third of the tablet, begins to dissolve, producing turbidity, which attracts fish. The smallest particles of food begin to separate from the mixture. The silver carp stops and waits for the next tasty lump to separate. Some impatient specimens try to deliberately push the food so that it “falls out” faster. And if the water is relatively calm, and the floats are swaying, it means that the silver carp liked the bait and bites should be expected soon (which can be very effective).

DIY technoplankton

Many fishermen are already accustomed to not buying bait or bait manufactured in industrial conditions. Such baits are very expensive and have the ability to be used up quickly, regardless of whether the fish bites or not. Good production of technoplankton with your own hands will differ little from factory production, perhaps only in molding. In order to make it at home, there are many recipes. This bait is prepared both in pressed and unpressed form. The second type is used in mesh feeders equipped with devices for hooks.

What is technoplankton

To understand what it is, we should consider the composition of technoplankton. You can make it with your own hands even at home. Technoplankton is a pressed mixture of various types of feed, pre-crushed and mixed in certain proportions. Externally, this complementary food resembles a barrel. Once in water, such a tablet begins to dissolve. As a result, a cloud of particles is formed. From the outside, this phenomenon resembles real plankton, which silver carp love to feast on in their natural environment.

Manufacturing technology

How to make technoplankton for silver carp with your own hands? When manufacturing it, two main conditions must be met. First: the bait should produce turbidity (particles separate from the tablets in the water, creating a cloud, reminiscent of phytoplankton). Second: the technoplankton on silver carp must, so to speak, “dust” with your own hands (particles are separated from the “barrel”, sinking to the bottom, and then, when floating up, they pull the dregs along with them). At the same time, you should not get too carried away with the variety of components - remember: the best is the enemy of the good! Three or four components will be enough.

Features of preparing technoplankton depending on fishing conditions

When preparing technoplankton, you need to consider what type of fishing you are preparing it for: surface (float) or bottom:

1. To fish on the bottom, you definitely need to add ingredients that will “dust”, components that can float (ground wine cork, bran, etc.).
2. For surface fishing, these should be substances that dissolve gradually and leave a large cloudy trail behind in the water.

Main Ingredient

The main components included in technoplankton compositions are fillers. You can use flour from corn or buckwheat, millet or peas, as well as crushed crackers, cookies, and other ingredients that can be ground into flour. Proportions are not so important; you can take everything in equal quantities. In order to enhance the taste of hand-made technoplankton, it is recommended to heat treat crackers with cookies. It would be very good to take oat flour, it gives the bait the ability to dissolve evenly.

Components of technoplankton

Barrels containing various ingredients are available. Therefore, it is possible to choose bait to suit your fishing conditions. Despite this, many manufacturers do not disclose some production secrets. In this regard, our fishermen have to experiment.

If the barrels are poorly pressed when preparing bait, then you need to add a little water to them. The amount of water is calculated based on the cost of preparing 1 barrel: about half a gram is needed. The result of such production should be a barrel characterized by a certain density and hardness.

To reduce the rate of decomposition of the bait in water, starch or rice flour should be added to the composition. At the same time, you need to be careful, since their overdose leads to the opposite effect: the keg will dissolve much faster.

Filler

This ingredient plays a major role in making quality kegs. Basically, oat, corn, buckwheat, pea or wheat flour is chosen for this purpose. If possible, you can add crackers to the main composition, grinding them to flour.

Preparation of technoplankton does not require careful adherence to proportions. The most important thing is the careful processing of each ingredient, although the fish may ignore any flavor. For example, many fishermen recommend frying crackers or cookies in a frying pan for a brighter aroma. In addition, oatmeal can create exactly the feed cloud that is needed.

Adhesive base

The adhesive base is necessary for the barrel to have a certain strength. Despite this, it should not impede the process of decomposition of the bait into small particles.

At home you can use:

• Maltodextrin.
• Dextrin.
• Powdered sugar.
• Powdered milk.
• Dry cream.

The presence of the adhesive base should be no more than 10% of the presence of all ingredients.

Use of flavorings

Whether or not to use flavorings depends on who is fishing. This ingredient, in this case, is optional. These substances are available both in the form of dry powders and in the form of liquids. As a rule, they are characterized by a very strong aroma that will not leave anyone indifferent. Mostly sweet aromas are used, such as vanilla, spice, honey, strawberry or raspberry.

• If the tablets do not compress well, you can add a drop of water per unit. As a result, when it dries, you get a dry, hard bait, and it cannot be broken with your fingers.
• Silver carps really like it if technoplankton, made with their own hands, smells like fresh honey in the summer, and in spring and autumn they really like various herbal aromas. With such additives, fishing will be more effective.
• Regardless of the composition of the product, be sure to add powdered milk (or a substitute) to create a cloudy path. And starch (as an option - oat bran), so that when it floats up, it pulls the turbidity along with it, attracting fish.
• Factory-made tablets have “geyser” effects - they hiss and bubble when they fall into a liquid medium. This is an element of bait for silver carp. In the kitchen, for this effect, you can add pharmaceutical “Alkozeltzer” to the composition (as an option - a dry mixture of baking soda with lemon acid).
• The “correct” technoplankton slowly melts, starting after about 5 minutes of being in the liquid. The effect should last about half an hour. In the case when the bait invariably stands on the tackle and then instantly disintegrates, the result will not be achieved.
• To press tablets, you can use a do-it-yourself technoplankton device at home. It is a small hand press, which you can also build yourself (drawings are available in the relevant literature and on the Internet).

How to make technoplankton with your own hands: flour-based recipes

1. You need to take 200 grams of buckwheat flour, 200 grams of oat flour, 400 grams of corn flour. 200 grams of breadcrumbs. Then prepare sugar syrup (100 grams of sugar per 100 grams of water). Mix the dry ingredients and moisten with syrup, giving the mass homogeneity using a blender.
2. Roasted ground peanuts – half a kilo. The same amount by weight of corn flour and semolina. Add fish meal - a kilogram. Prepare sugar syrup (100 to 100). Mix the dry ingredients, moisten with sugar syrup, and mix the mixture in a blender.
3. Take in equal parts: corn flour (250 g), pea flour, sunflower seeds (grind!). Add breadcrumbs - one hundred grams, the same amount of dry milk, dry jelly - fifty grams and the same amount of flower honey. We dilute the jelly separately in a small amount of water, and then cook it in the microwave. Then mix the dry ingredients, gradually add the jelly into the total mass, stirring with a blender.
4. Semolina - 500 g, corn flour - 500 g, breadcrumbs - 300 g, hominy - 300 g, sugar - 300 g. Mix all the ingredients, then add honey syrup (add in small portions so as not to over-moisten the complementary foods).
5. Part one: dry dog ​​food - 500 g, roasted ground peanuts - 100 g, paprika powder - 50 g, powdered sugar - 200 grams. Part two of the bait: boiled potatoes 500 g, bananas - 1000 g, egg yolk - 1 pc., condensed milk - 50 grams. In one container we mix the ingredients from the 1st part of the recipe, and in the other - from the 2nd. Then we combine these parts and knead the dough for use in bottom feeders. In order to obtain a mixture for making tablets, you will need to add more of the dry (1st) part of the mixture so that the consistency is similar to crumbly porridge.

It should also be noted that although this type of bait was originally intended for “hunting” silver carp, it can also be used to catch other types of fish. The basic rule for effective fishing is to leave the equipment alone for about half an hour. When the tablet enters the aquatic environment, a cloud is formed, it imitates plankton, attracting fish. Afterwards, the fishing process itself becomes exciting. And an important factor will be a high-quality bait that you made with your own hands! Good luck!

Recipes for making your own technoplakton

Each fisherman makes the composition in his own way, but there are several of the most popular mixtures, which we will focus on.

Recipe 1:

• 200 grams of corn flour (you can make it from popcorn ground in a coffee grinder);
• 200 grams of wheat flour;
• 300 grams of oatmeal flour;
• 200 grams of semolina flour;
• 150 grams of soda + lemon juice.

All ingredients must be mixed and sprinkled with water. When the dough becomes plastic, it must be placed in a press and made into briquettes, or it can be baked in a microwave oven. The effervescent mixture must be mixed with the mass immediately before pressing.

Recipe 2:

• 0.5 kg of raw semolina;
• 0.5 kg corn flour;
• 300 grams of breadcrumbs;
• 300 grams of mamalyga;
• 300 grams of sugar.

Mix everything until smooth and dilute with honey solution, gradually.

Recipe 3:

• 1 can of condensed milk;
• Powdered milk mixture;
• Powder cake.

Pour a can of condensed milk into a bowl and gradually stir in the dry ingredients until the mixture reaches the consistency of sour cream. Milk and cake should be added in equal quantities. Place this in the freezer for half an hour. Then we take it out and knead it into a tight dough, again adding dry ingredients in equal quantities. Add the bulk part a little at a time; if you add a lot at once, the dough may thicken too quickly. Moisten slightly with water to make it sticky. At the end we pass it through a sieve and press it.

Recipe 4 for feeding on the bottom:

• 0.5 kg of dog food;
• 100 grams of roasted ground peanuts;
• 50 grams of dry sweet pepper;
• 1 cup powdered sugar.

If you want to use this recipe for float fishing, add more dry ingredients.

Recipe 5:

• 250 grams of ready-made fruit jelly;
• 1 tsp. honey;
• Any combination of crushed cereal flakes, breadcrumbs and powdered milk.

Mix the cooled jelly with honey, and then gradually add the dry mixture into it until a moist (but not wet) mixture is formed. Place the compressed barrels on a napkin to dry completely.

Recipe 6:

• 350 g ground flour;
• 350 g raw sunflower seeds;
• 150 grams of wheat flour;
• 150 grams of rice flour;
• 1 cup corn flakes;
• 100 grams of milk powder.

First grind all components to a powder using a coffee grinder, and then mix.

Recipe 7:

• 250 grams of sunflower seeds;
• 150 grams of shortbread cookies with creamy taste;
• 125 grams of dry cream;
• 250 grams of cooked peas;
• 250 grams of fish bait;
• 250 grams of semolina;
• 125 grams of protein powder;
• Flavoring.

Grind all ingredients and mix.

Recipe 8:

• 0.5 kg corn flour;
• 250 g rice flour;
• 250 g pea flour;
• 250 g buckwheat flour;
• 250 g milk baby food with rice;
• 250 grams of raw peanuts;
• 250 g raw sunflower seeds without peel;
• Honey syrup.

Recipe 9:

• 1 tbsp. Sunflower seed;
• 150 grams of dry cookies with vanilla flavor;
• 250 grams of chopped popcorn;
• 250 grams of semolina;
• 250 grams of corn flour;
• 250 grams of milk powder;
• 125 grams of cucumber flour.

To make cucumber flour, you need to grate the cucumber, dry it and then grind it. The flour has a fairly strong aroma, which attracts silver carp well.

Recipe 10:

• 4 parts flour for hominy;
• 4 parts millet flour;
• 1 part rice flour;
• 1 part milk powder;
• Vanilla flavored sugar syrup.

Mix everything, adding syrup periodically. The total syrup should be added to about 30% of the total mass. Then let the mixture rest for 60 minutes. And at the end, we pass through a coarse sieve, press and dry.

Sugar syrup: 1 part water + 1 part sugar + vanilla, boil everything for 20 minutes and cool. If you need to increase buoyancy, add crushed cork.
